I've never had WKM status. Was never demoted.

Ghoul joined here (early March 2024) about 4 weeks before I received my first temp ban in late March 2024. He started posting in April 2024 a few weeks after I was gone. Did I create my next account a few weeks before I was temp banned in anticipation? Can I see the future?

And ur constantly likening and responding to him also? Wtf?

I appreciate the effort he puts in and his willingness to share pertinent material. He gives a great deal to this forum. I don't think he receives any compensation.

I've been critical of the current algorithm since I joined. Absolutely. You've got the old members whose status was grandfathered in on the prior criteria. The status construct should never be used by noobs to screen for proper info. It's a classic issue on forums.

I think those who throw around "fear mongering" have latched onto a term to rationalize their inability or unwillingness to accept knowledge progresses.

Typically the people who use "I injected this and didn't lose an arm" so it's perfectly safe standard.

You see these types in every area of life, particularly regarding technology.

Usually starts in midlife and becomes more pronounced with age.

The "fear" is being faced with the possibility that assumptions they've made turn out to be wrong, knowledge they've accumulated may have to be discarded, but instead of moving on based on new information, their outsized ego forces them into bunker mode.

Their brains turn into concrete. (Quite literally losing the ability to form new memories and become endlessly self referential back to ideas formed when they could still learn new things, but that's another topic.). Changing anything at this point is too costly.

I'm not a mind reader, but I think our host knows the risk of a forum operator seeming to "endorse" medical advice is much more fraught than certifying someone's shroom growing cred.

Probably best to recognize contributing members in some way that doesn't lead anyone to think they're relieved of due diligence and weighing health related advice from online randos, as advice sourced from online randos

Of course you have a point. The system would have to be functional, and not limited by mods own lack of knowledge.

There are levels to understanding medical practice, some come with years of use/study and others with inteligence and ofc knowledge (you can't be a 23 yo and be in the same rank as somebody who's almost 2x your age and has been in the game for a decade or more) These strata could be determined and together with some other clever check boxes, one could have a working system, which could be layered upon the existing ranking system, if nothing else.

Beyond that, it's at the users risk - this place doesn't guarantee anything.

This isn't my fight and I certainly don't want to get yanked into it as I have a great deal of respect for the knowledge and the way in which most everyone here goes about things on Meso. With that said, I truly don't understand the vitriol that always seems to be targeted at Ghoul. I genuinely think he's a net positive to this forum and I do think some of the attacks against him were a bit much -especially in regard to his warning on changes to CBP and increased seizures of small parcels. I mean all he did was read an article on the topic, share what he read and then post the article itself. It turns out he wasn't wrong to warn us to stock up on cheap gear while we could. Yet he was raked over the coals and accused of fear mongering Meso members into panic buying, thus netting more profits for Chinese UGL's.

Just my two cents on that particular situation.

Like everybody else on this thread who is fairly active on Meso, I think Ghoul brings a lot to the table. I don't know where the vitriol stems from but it doesn't seem all that productive or necessary.

If you have been around long enough you know that people have titles on certain forums and they are complete idiotic pieces of shit. Yes, there are others that do know what they are talking about and their title does match their knowledge.

Then you got some members that don't have any forum title but they have their little group of fanbois that push that 'like' button for them so that they can proclaim themselves as experts because their fanbois liked some of their comments.

Its all dumb, egotistical bullshit with the titles and the little fanboi groups but sometimes it is funny.
