NPC Judges being too tough?

Okay Meso brothers I have a question. Are judges at the NPC ranks being too harsh on the amateur competitors? It appears there are many NPC amateur competitors “in my opinion” who should have been pro a long time ago.

However, it appears the judges are being too tough on them. For example, Kris Dim had HELL trying to get his pro card. When we all knew Kris carries a pro “physique.” However, the NPC judges gave him hell. Well Kris just competed in the Pro San Fran and took 3rd. Beating many pros that have been in the league for years.

What does that tell me? That there are many NPC amateur bodybuilders that will kick ass at the pro level. However, with the judges giving them hell and being too picky it takes them longer to reach the pro ranks and prove they belong.

What are your thoughts Meso brothers??? I think Kris’ placing was a blow for the other amateurs. “Hey although we’re rookies we ain’t carrying any bags and running errands for the senior professionals. “We’re here to kick ass.”

I don't really think the judges are too tough. I actually think quite the opposite. It seems like the trend of smaller, tighter, and possibly more asthetic packages is starting to be rewarded. Years ago, it seemed that if you weren't a heavyweight or superheavy, you weren't going to make on the pro scene. The new trend seems to play right into the strong points of guys like Dexter, Richard Jones, Haidar, Badell, and even Dim. Still, I don't think Dim (with his synthol biceps) has much of a chance of making a huge impact. He looked small up against Dexter, and Priest had much more quality. Besides, the San Fran was a weak show, especially after Cormier pulled out. Had guys like Gunter, Ruhl, Cormier, Dennis James, Victor Marinez, Darrem Charles competed or not been locked up, Dim wouldn't have stood a chance. Also, check out the pics of everyone else out of the top 6. Some of them don't even deserve a pro card! Johnnie Jackson's good, but he was definitely off that night. IMO, it's obvious who the rookies are vs the veterans. Currently, I don't really see very many rookies making a big splash on the scene immediately. But, I do feel the pendulum is swinging back toward the "prettier" vs the "freakier." Sorry to go off on a tangent!

Actually Bro I happen to know Kris and there is a lot of POLITICS envolved in the judging of these contest. Not only that but some choices he made early on haunted him for a long time. These contest thrive on sponsership and in case you didnt know Kris own 2 Max Muscle stores. Believe it or not I dont think that helped him at all. So I dont think it had anything to do with the judges being to harsh. I think they where being to political. I remember last year at the Sac Show two of the judges at the upcoming nationals where there and their conversation lead me to believe that if Kris came in the way he did at USA he would get his pro card. But then the POLITICS came in and the "EAS" boy took it. Which I am sure if you saw him you know he was a joke next to Kris. The main thing is the top 3 in SF go to Mr Olympia. I personally think Kris could of taken Cormier and this is the reason Cormier did not show up at the evening portion. Just my .02

Hey, it's nothing personal. I just don't care for the look. It doesn't take a rocket scientist....he must be left-handed, b/c he has a hard time getting the bicep peak to match the right one. If the muscles are smooth, lumpy, asymmetrical, and don't move when flexed....too much synthol. Sorry buddy, that's the way it is.

I think that jugding by the quality, of the overall quality of the Grand Prix, that the whole sport is losing popularity. It was held in a high school gym with thre or four vendors, it was all amatuer if you ask me! and hard to get you card? You know the guy I was with looked better than 10 of the "pros" on stage I thought it was cool to see preist an all but the whole thing was a joke. one Guy couldn't evem hold a pose! It's too bad they make it hard on a guy like Kris Dim who did look good. But the whole show sucked.
