PC & Powerlifting

If a guy is diagnosed with prostate cancer and has the organ removed, how does that affect his strength/hormone levels? If low, can he then go on HRT?

This would be a decision made between you and your personal physician.

As long as the patient has been properly educated as to the risks and benefits of TRT status post radical prostatectomy, I see no reason to not administer TRT if hypogonadism persists.

I would invite you to share with us how having a cancerous prostate removed affects strength once recovery is complete.

you could have your prostate removed? What would that effect? what the hell is it there for anyway? .. Yes,i am a moron :)

Swale, I was interested to know if anyone here has had a radical prostatectomy and if it affected their powerlifting, or strength sports, in any way. Apparently, it doesn't. But I wasn't sure when I asked the question if it would affect the body's production of T in some way and the ability to lift competitively.

Prostate CA has been known to lower T levels. I would guess it has something to do with the fact chronic disease does that. I think I read a study where T levels came back up after prostatectomy.

I shouldn't think powerlifting would be negatively affected once full recovery has been made.
