Pea Protein is CHEAP!! Who has done it?

I use whey protein isolate.
I don't buy blended protein that has concentrate/isolate/hydrolasate.

Prices are getting outrageous. I usually find a newer upcoming brand and buy alot at cheap, or some other deal. I was able to isolate at around $38 for 5lbs, but the company has raised their prices.

Enter Pea Protein...
Only issue is complaining about no ease in mixing, along with videos of how it doesn't mix well. Obviously need a blender, which I'd rather not.
Also some say they hate the flavor, even if listed as unflavored. I don't really care as much about taste. Function is all that matters.

Isolate mixes so easy, and I don't even use alot of water. One scoop down the hatch with no thought, plenty of room for meal.

7lbs Pea Protein for $50 on amazon seems like a deal. Has 2g arginine as well per scoop.

If I buy it, will use no matter how much it sucks... and will probably mix with 2 Tablespoons of nesquick chocolate powder. Maybe some peanut butter powder.
I'm not trying to add fruits and stuff.

Has anyone successfully managed pea protein?

Or should I just go Protein Isolate for 5lbs $58 and save headaches?
I take 2-3 scoops per day.
I would take a scoop with every meal plus 2 post workout if it didn't cost $1million a jug now.

If function is all that matters and you're doing it to save money, make a gallon at a time so you have a few days worth. You don't need to run the blender every day.

Grainy weird texture. Tastes like saw dust.
Thanks for an idea of taste and texture. I think I could deal with that. Did see that someone said they couldn't mask the taste... but then again people review pure creatine and for taste put low score... "doesn't taste good" lol

Good idea.

If you don’t mind a “different” tasting protein it’s fine. Most important thing is g of protein compared to g of the serve. Should be very high, otherwise it’s mostly filler

Yeah, you're right about the prices. Crazy high! Not just protein powder but creatine. Go figure. Never tried pea protein, I stay away from plant based protein altogether. If I come across whey concentrate and the ratio of pro to carb is something like 25gms. Pro to 2-4 gms. Carb and it's under 50.00, it's mine. I will also go for a good buy for combo (whey, egg white, casein) I'll jump on it. If at the moment you can get whey isolate for 58.00 (5 lbs.) that's a good deal. I'd jump on that if you prefer isolate.

The country's leading pea protein producer, Minneapolis-based Puris, has won an initial tariff case against Chinese producers that are allegedly exporting heavily subsidized pea protein and undercutting Puris' business.

This "dumping" of low-cost imports has been so bad Puris had to idle a plant in Wisconsin this summer, laying off 48 people, according to federal and state filings.

I prefer pea protein when it comes to plant protein sources but it's not quite a complete protein. I would never supplement pea protein for this reason, I just try to use pea protein wraps & the like to wrap up lean meats like turkey, etc.

If you're feeling price sensitive towards protein, eat more eggs, and spare on the more exotic AAS. It's not worth losing sleep or skimping over the price of whey/casein.

I personally just don't like the taste/texture of plant protein. And like soy, pea protein is quite low in methionine. On the positive side, it's low in goitrogens, and it's been said that it doesn't cause as much stomach distress as does soy. Apparently it's also not estrogenic. But, again for me, taste texture.

Ever try a pea protein wrap? They're kinda good, I otherwise agree. That's where I get my pea protein from. You might be pleasantly surprised, is all.

Now where in the world would one find something like that? Only thing I can think of is in the frozen section??

Well, someone I know was doing Beachbody and had a bunch of boxes of Shakeology packets. They gave them to me awhile back. I take one in the morning. It's whey protein isolate and pea protein.
So I've been supplementing with it and didn't even know lol.
I will stick to whey isolate... but still going to get some pea protein just to have extra supplementation and experiment.
I will do some more research on pea protein. Once I get mine I will post some pics and thoughts on it. Going with "unflavored".

Been using Naked’s Pea Protein on/off for years. Mix it with some peanut butter powder, milk and chug it down. Tastes fine and doesn’t make me fart all day. Definitely easiest protein on my gut than anything else.

Normally do the unflavored but the Naked Shake Strawberry and Banana (made w/ Pea) isn’t bad at all either.

The Huel I drink every day is majority pea protein with other ingredients like superfoods etc. it’s a powder and it does have a grainy/oatmeal texture and flavor. I whip it up in the blender with my whey and bananas which smooths it out a lot. I had to supp with digestive enzymes for the first week because it wreaked havoc on my gut, but after that I was fine. I drink 2-3 per day.

Soy protein is fine as long as you consume enough to compensate for not so optimal amino balance, even studies proved this.
I think 30% more soy protein was the equivalent to whey when it comes to protein synthesis and as soy Isolate is 90% protein and cost 4$ per kilo it is the cheapest option out there and doesn't taste like ass (looking at you pea prot.)

4$ per kg? That's very cheap. In EU it's 12 - 15€ per kg (yes, when buying 2.5 - 5kg) ...

This is what I was gonna mention.. the amino acids are different in plant for dairy protein.. I believe whey is more complete for building muscle correct?
