One thing to think about--which bit late now--would have been to talk with a doc after your initial results to get onto Rx TRT. It would have likely made things easier from here. Seems like more doc's are recognizing the need and your levels were pretty low. I have a friend who went into a different doc from mine a couple weeks back and was helped out with levels at 319 without much hesitation.
I started TRT just over 12 months ago and has proven hands down the best change in my adult life. Feeling the difference, I know I was likely low for years. Maybe since my early idiotic 20's when I ended a cycle without proper PCT after a sports injury. I was laid up for a couple months and never regained my fitness level from there. Add in grad school, work, kids, couple wives--and life just whirls by. Now mid-40's and seeing the huge increase in my fitness, overall health and enjoyment of life and while I am super proud of myself for the changes that I can see and feel--also beside myself for waiting as long as I did to be more proactive.
For my life--best decision in years, hands down. Nice added bonus, if you are someone who decides to augment the treatment level, it is easier to return to your therapeutic levels before testing with your doc without putting yourself into a complete tailspin crash. If your levels were low before, they certainly will be now when you stop taking your dosage. The normal PCT to kickstart your natural levels may not do anything depending on why your were low to start with. You likely prefer not to stroll into your doc's office asking for TRT with a self-administered elevated T level. So if you want to get legitimate medical treatment, it almost seems you have to let yourself come off before seeing the doc, which wont be the end of the world by any means, but will be a couple weeks of feeling lethargic.
An additional bonus is if you have decent insurance--much of your treatment could be covered. Luckily my wife has great benefits, so my TRT runs me about $36 for a 10ml bottle of Watson, Perigo or Sun Test C, with sufficient needles/bodies for draw and injection 2x a week. My Rx dose is 160mg a week, so the $36 is for roughly 3 months worth. I'm all for individuals doing what they want to try and improve themselves, whether for aesthetics, performance or simple quality of life. Test and the other options out there can clearly help with all the above if done properly, and with quality products. That said, if you are naturally low, to the point you are undertaking self-help, also owe it to yourself to see what a doc can help you with along the way.
Good luck and enjoy the positive changes a good diet, exercise and hormones yield.
