Race to a 455lb bench press

@Feppen You seem to know bench. Lol. What are your thoughts on a bench comeback after a labrum tear? I feel fine now, but haven't really gone "heavy" since my shoulder has recovered. Just a lot of quality reps so far. Not sure what to expect when I start getting back to 4 plate range

P.S. if it matters, originally hurt it back in December. Been pain free for about a couple months

Well I’m more than willing to share as much knowledge as I can!

As far as squats go do you go with a wide stance or shoulder with stance? I’m still experimenting with both.

I just made the switch to powerlifting about 6 months ago so over the years I developed some bad habits for power. Making the switch was definitely the best decision I’ve made concerning lifting though. I never realized how important technique is for maximum power. It’s pretty damn interesting and fun.

One of the top 3 decisions uve ever made.
Switching to Powerlifting has renewed my passion for lifting and exercise.

Love every second of it

My personal opinion is to stick with whatever feels more comfortable for you as a person, everyone is built differently, it might be limb lengths, mobility, previous injuries etc. not many people are going to be world class so going for “optimizing” your lifts versus your safety isn’t worth it IMO. I bench extremely narrow versus most of my competitors due to the fact that wide grip I feel as though my pecs are tearing at anything over 500. However every wide grip cycle I have hit PRs versus my narrow grip.
TLDR whatever feels safer and more comfortable will most likely be better for most lifters.

@Silentlemon1011 thats nonsense! Ask away

I have a PR attempt coming up on Saturday or Sunday, I'll post up then.

Right now I only have a front view video of my 315

hope I did this right-

also @Brandaddy as long as you’re g2g a labrum injury shouldn’t stop you. You just might have to alter your bench form slightly.

That went up so fast like it was nothing, well done. Just finished Smolov and in deload week. Hoping for 285 (+30) to 315 (+60) on Saturday but that is not much watching your bench.

Hey, a PR is a PR doesn’t matter how heavy it is! Weight is all relative anyway you’ve got 315 easy!
@Silentlemon1011 You can send me it if you’d like I’ll do my best to help.
Totally agree and we all start somewhere. My bench has been my weak link from day 1 hoping after this max its no longer weak link and get my squats fixed next lol
