Restoring sex-drive and improving erectile function after long term AAS usage

Hey guys,

I've been using aas in a cyclical manner since the age of 18, now I'm 28. Recently, after few 12-16 weeks cycles of 750mg Test + 500mg Tren a week, broken up with Dr. Scally's PCT, I decided to come off steroids completely. Below I posted my blood test results, 2 months after PCT and 6 months after PCT.

...another 6 months passed, so it has been a year since I came off AAS and I am having some issues. Ever since my libido suffered greatly, I get no random erotic thoughts and I don't really get aroused unless I find myself in an "heated" situation, I get no spontaneous erections - no erotic thoughts or images do it for me. On top of that morning erections seem rare and weak. I was able to have a normal intercourse with my regular partner when physically stimulated. However, after breaking up and getting some casual intimate encounters I struggled - so my guess is that my slight ED combined with performance anxiety kicked in. Viagra seemed to do the trick for me but I'm concerned that I'm heading towards full blown psychogenic ED relying on pills.

I suspect that my hormonal profile is to blame for the poor libido and mild ED. Could that be the case looking at my results? They seem in range but are they normal for 28 years old male? Should I consider another PCT protocol, long-term Clomid therapy or perhaps HRT?

You've been on supra levels of T for YEARS and, at least notionally, that produces some acclimation for everything to work at those levels. When those levels go away....

It took a decade for you to get where you are now so undoing it will not happen overnight; and you might not ever be the same as you were before you started cycling.

Clomid could be worth a try. Go with a low dose protocol (not like pct); something like 25 mg eod. Monitor how you feel and get labs at 5 weeks.

I've typed my fingers raw the last few years warning guys off doing what you did so they would avoid just this kind of result. Stick around the boards for a while to help others from making the same mistake.

Your experience could be considered par for the course when u start that young, and is possible when starting aas at any age from my understanding. I dont believe there's any such thing as no consequence cycling. That's why education beforehand is so crucial!

I agree completely. You read all these boards and it is all these kids giving insane advice and that there is no harm or long term damage if you "cycle correctly". I was older than you when I started cycling but my libido was never the same once I started. I am of the same school of thought as LW. I wish I had never started with it and am paying for it now on TRT for life. I am lucky where there are no issues but it is inconvenient keeping up with shots, getting bloodwork every 6 months, donating blood every other month as well as the expense of daily Cialis.

The mass is not worth the cost for the rest of your life...especially because excess mass causes many health issues. Fat or muscle, they both are a problem on the body if it is excessive. Lean and cut is the way to go. Women love it and so does your heart and other organs that are not being taxed to function normally in an oversized body.

I believe that my experience with aas was as well planned as it could be, I haven't started cycling steroids so that women will "love it". I need an advantage to stand a chance on a bodybuilding stage - I competed nationally. I believe that I was quite reasonable with the dosing and time off... which is to some extent irrelevant as I do experience the side effects now!

Someone suggested to me running another blood test, then 2000iu HCG eod for 20 days with 50mg clomid and see if that helps. What do you guys think? Also is there a possibility of actually making the situation worse with throwing in more PCT drugs at this stage (i.e. 12 months off)?

I am also debating whether I should get some underground PCT drugs or would it be possible to get my GP to refer me to an endocrinologist and get generic drugs. I'm based in UK...

...then I'd hope the problem would get fixed?
To be honest, after I started cycling, the problem was never "fixed". Some days were better than others, but my libido was never the same. Only years later now on TRT and daily Cialis do I feel better. It isn't perfect but it's way better.

This is a great post and should be framed and shown in every gym in america. This is the often untold consequence of steroid use. I did the same thing but my dosages were much less and still, my T levels never reverted back to normal and my libido suffers.
And for what? To look big on the beach and night clubs... What a waste.
As far as bodybuilding and competing, its a fucked up sub culture and most bodybuilders have big time personal issues.

I'm happy that my story can be inspirational but I am hoping to solve my issues rather than being a scarecrow of the forums. I would appreciate some positive reinforcement and practical advice. Can anyone comment on blood tests results? I will run another test next week...
I think that the rationale for using AAS is irrelevant. I remember reading an article somewhere about a research, during which Olympic athletes were asked would they take performance enhancing drugs knowing that they would never be caught and that they would win gold but at a price of -10 years lifespan. Most said they would...
Nonetheless, I was never aware of any irreversible non-cosmetic side effect of AAS usage.

Good luck gromon, I will be reading up on this. Hope it works out for you, wish I could contribute on an educated level but I can't unfortunately.

In terms of ED, whether that being psychological or affected by circulation issues. I'm posting few interesting links I've found...

Mediative Treatment for ED
Meditative Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction

50mg Viagra at night for 12 months for permanent erectile improvement
Nightly Viagra May Restore Normal Erections

Porn induced desensitization to 'normal' sex stimuli (i.e. "noFAP")

...not sure how these would be relevant to my situation. I'm starting to convince myself that most of my issues are psychological, really. The problem is that there is so many confounding variables that it is difficult not to worry about everything else. Anyway, I'm sure that these resources can be of help to some people struggling with similar problems.

Porn induced desensitization to 'normal' sex stimuli

This is a real thing, for me at least. If i watch more than I should the norm becomes dull. Next thing I know I'm watching Latvian orgy porn, then that leads to prolapse porn and then that leads to....

Def a real thing...

good article to read on this subject.

Interesting...

Thinking logically about it, to figure out the nature of the problem we could...

-Run USG of the penis (goody good!) to see if there are any morphological changes, maybe due to high blood pressure induced by AAS? If no then the mild ED problem is either endocrine or psychogenic. I'll try to get an appointment with an urologist.

-Do blood work now, start Clomid at 25mg 3x a week, give it a week or two and see if libido goes up, run a blood test whilst on again. If things get better than obviously the problem was with testosterone levels. If not, then things point out to psychological issues. Here, I'll try to get an appointment with endo. I would like to try to avoid self-medication.

...also thinking that I may have some trenbolone metabolites in my system even now, after 12 months off. I've been using "Tri-tren"; where the longest ester can be detected for up to 18 months (?). I've been reading some self-reported cases about AAS users who were perfectly 'recovered' until their bodyweight started to go down - they were convinced that broken down fat deposits were releasing stored tren metabolites and messing them up. Now this may seem like some pseudo-science but somewhat it makes sense. Perhaps reducing body-fat would help to clear the system.
