Rob's log part 2 (gonna take a crack at PLing)

Ok day 2 went well. I underestimated my strength on tbar rows and pull downs. Tbar was 180 and pull downs was 160. I also did 40 mins of cardio at the end. I'm getting out of breath during my workouts and when I was doing cardio every day I felt much much better. So I'm going back to that.

Here is a current back shot. Feeling soft.

Tonight's workout went awesome. Really doesn't seem like a lot on paper but after warm ups and building sets them working sets it adds up big time. Ended up doing 190 on leg extensions. The weight was way off on that. Finished with 25mins of cardio and one hell of a night

Squat, bench, deadlift, two accessories plus 25 minutes of cardio sounds like a good session to me. Pretty close to my Tuesday workout.

Are you liking your new setup so far?

Yea I didn't have any carry over from yesterday's WO. I know I'm still on light weight but everything has felt great. Not so I'm laid up for days but it's definitely a serious workout. I'll have a better feel after the first 2 weeks. I'm hopeful of things continue on I'll be really happy

The lighter weights and more reps always feel great for me after going heavy for awhile, too. I'm always stronger once I transition back to heavier weight.

I ain't with you on that one I'm currently running some funky stuff and I work up to one set of 20 reps for my squats sessions... I squat a lot and yesterday's was 225x20 no sleeves only oly shoes Twas brutal and I'm feelin it way more then I feel 365 5x5

Yeah, I tried 20 rep squats a couple years ago and found it pretty unpleasant. I meant higher reps like 6-10. I feel it more as in it's harder and more exhausting than low reps, higher reps don't leave my body aching in a bad way like weeks and weeks of low reps do. They both have their upsides and downsides.

Rob I'm high jacking your thread temporarily.

By unpleasant whatcha mean? I've only done 4 sessions of the 20 rep program I was hoping to run it for another 6 weeks while on the first part of my cycle then go into my meet prep, really want 315x20 and thought might be achievable with tren test mast var combo. But if you mean unpleasant as in you don't really progress or the DOMs prevent further progression then I'm out and I'll go back to my squat errrry day program

I struggle with too many continuous reps. That's the only thing that hurts my back. I did 275 not too long ago for 17 and I was done. Had to go home and hang it up. I can do a lot of volume on squats just not continuous reps like that. The pump and is crazy though

Oh and high jack away. My thread is open to all

As it sits right now I think I physically have 260x20 in me but my mentality has me at 315x20 so that's what I want and I expect to push through to get that. I don't have a problem with the continuous reps when I wear my oly shoes I have 0 butt wink and my hips open up well to protect my back its just once I feel the pump my body goes straight into powerlifting mode and tells me I've overtrained so I'm trying to push past it. If nothing else I should at least develop some more defined wheels

I don't know, my form sucked back then and I wasn't as well conditioned as now. I did an easy 285x12 beltless yesterday outside of the rack. I'm not sure what the weight on my next AMRAP is, but it'll be with a belt and hopefully in the rack.

No, I was progressing on it when I tried it years ago, I just tapped out after a few weeks. Never really gotten DOMs that bad from anything that it prevented progress. If high rep deadlifts work surely high rep squats must work, too. Used correctly anyway.

Looking good brother.
I am with you on the cardio. My calf has been bothering me lately so I did not do any cardio for two weeks now and also I moved into 5 sets of triples for my main lifts (bigger weight but not as taxing for endurance) -- I feel the loses already in terms of endurance. I never thought I would say this, but I look forward to feeling 100% so I may start working on improving my cardio capacity again.

Tonight was a really easy night. It's meant to be that way but all in all I got a little pump took the extra time and did 45 mins of cardio. I had 3 2-3 mins spurts of moving pretty good then back to an incline fat burning pace. After I was done with my incline I wasn't very tired and the 115s felt closer to a 7 RPE and I don't lift again until Saturday so I grabbed the 125s and knocked out a set of 8. Well I tried for 9 but they didn't go up lol. I actually got that one on video. Lots of my face so if anyone is curious hit me up.

This session was brutal yesterday. My legs were beat up but it all got done. It still amazes me how much playing sand volleyball can eat up your legs. Recover today start week 2 next week. I'm really liking the program so hope it yields some good strength gain.

Doing all of the big three in one session really kicks your ass, but you'll be glad you did sessions like this come meet day. It's good for conditioning and getting used to training in a fatigued state.

Seriously that 340 squat was brutal lol. It's such light weight too and only 5 reps. I even did extra warm ups with 135 because I was so tight from playing the night before

sand vollyball is no joke haha
hell, even walking in sand kicks my ass.
That is awesome that you have the conditioning and recovery to do that and then train the big lifts the next day -- good stuff, I salute you brother!

I didn't think it was going to make it. We played 8 games to 21 throughout the night. 2 of them were 2 on 2 which is lots of moving the entire time. I had to convince myself over and over to even go to the gym

As most know from the group thread I pulled strained did something to my hammie. It's been 5 days and still is pretty tender. Gonna more than like hold off another week before easing back into legs. Gonna start counting calories this week and track everything. Not sure where to run anything at yet but I'm gonna shoot for 4K cals on big lifts days and 3500-3750 on accessory and off days. Nice part of current workouts are my arms are filling out again
