How do you guys sterilize the filters? the ones on amazon are cheap but non sterile, the sterile ones are kinda expensive.
You buy the sterile filters.
Buying sterile filters is the easy button here. Depending on your setup, if you use the filter paper discs, you can find ones that are autoclaveable (Tisch Scientific), but if you’re concerned about sterile filter prices, I’m going to assume you don’t have an autoclave.

Gonna make some L-Carnitne and some Glutathione, can you tell me if I'm missing something before I place my orders? thanks. This is my order list so far:
- 100ml & 5ml sterile vials (100ml for canitine & 5ml for glutathione)
- 50ml & 20ml sterile syringes
- 27G needles
- 0.22um 13mm sterile filters
- beckers (different sizes)
- little spoon for sampling
- glass rods for stirring
- magnetic mixer
- scale (0.01g)
- ph testing strips (will use baking soda if I have to increase ph)
- sterile water
- benzyl alcohol
- L carnitine 99% pure
- Reduced glutathione 99% pure

Missing anything? thanks

The larger the syringe the more difficult it will be to filter. I’d go with 5ml. Also 13mm filters will are pretty small. 25 or 33mm are better. You may want some lower gauge syringes for drawing, not necessary just easier. The milligram scales are really small, and will be a pain. Plus you don’t need that accuracy for this application. Get a 0.1 at most, that’s still probably overkill here.

Actually you definitely want some 18g to draw the solution up before filtering.

thank you. why does the diameter of the filter matter?
