Haha that is hilarious you said that! I use to roof for many years, and the contractor I worked for wrote out step by step excel spreadsheets for the customers. The dumbass thought it helped sell jobs (maybe a little) but a large number ended up taking the insurance money and doing it thierselves after having a check list to follow! So that made me laugh my ass off reading that

I usually tell the person I want to compare the quality/type of material they'll use when deciding on a contractor. Am I getting metal or PVC conduit, what type of shingles and what warranty? Smart guys will list out 20yr warranty shingles, double layer underlayer, ridge vent, etc but won't list brands and they don't itemize the lines, just give a total cost. If someone tries to ask about cost of individual lines or wants to swap out lines to see the adjusted total is it becomes obvious what they're doing.

You are a smart guy, it's usually easy to notice what people are doing up front in relation to this. But like your saying some people are smart and can out wit a dumb contractor in helping them out with the process! The guy I was under did very good in our town. He offer 50 year non-prorated labor/material. Which was another reason that made me laugh. We were certified in installing GAF material (membrane,shingles,metal) and if you do so as a contractor that company will cover that roof no questions ask if it was to thier specs. So it made him look good but wasn't really a true warranty with the specific contractor, just the manufacture lol

I called a 25yo female engineer/manager at work "sweetie" once. She reminds me of my daughter so my brain slipped. She knows me and said it wasnt a big deal. I apologized immediately. I had a high school girl at a convenience store call me "darlin'" once. It made me laugh. It's just how people are raised, most people dont even realize it sometimes. By the way, I only call my wife and daughter "sweetie".

The recyle yard i usually go through. There is one in florida and one in ca that i remember. HAP i think is the one in california, used parts but guarunteed to work and tested.

Yeah I think we all just have our certain ways of saying things. When taking to guys I usually say ‘dude, man, or bro’.
Females I say ‘honey’.

My little woman I call ‘babe’.

I was brought up to say ma’am and sir though. As I’ve grown through the years I’ve changed my ways.
By the time I’m 80 I’ll be calling guys either dick or asshole, females will be bitches or whores.

My little woman will always be babe though!
