What do you think about God?

Okay so what's your thoughts on religion and God?
I'm Indian and we we believe in Sikhism.. I'm not a none believer but I can't say I'm 100% down. Like how can some people be so poor and can't offer to eat and others so rich they sleep in money? How can this happen when "God" says everyone is crated to be special?

What do you guys think?

I'm not a pastor but I can do my best.
The basic answer is that God did not create suffering. Many atheist and people struggling with god will ask the question "if god is so powerful, why didn't he create a perfect world without suffering instead of the one we have now?"
But they forget God DID create a perfect world without suffering and saw that it was good, in genesis. And in that perfect world he gave man free will. Man simply did not have the ability to sin or suffer and there was no understanding of sin or suffering. It wasn't until we (man) chose to have the knowledge of good and evil that WE created a world of suffering.
There is also a lot of scripture on the rich and poor.
But that is a separate question.

Christians believe that suffering comes from the absence of God.
For example if God is everything that is good, the absence of God would be everything else. Including suffering.
 
Since God is all-knowing, he knew what Adam would do when he created him. It's like I put the coyote in the hen house and then got pissed when a couple chickens ended up dead--except instead of just getting pissed I punish every human until the end of time.

I don't think much of him at all if he exists. Anyone who is supposed to be all powerful and allows the stuff that happens to innocent people (kids especially) when he has the power to stop it isn't anyone I could like let alone respect, love or whatever. If he exists were no more then his entertainment.

I agree. If I knew of a person who was able to intervene and protect the innocent or weak and didn't by free will he would disgust me and I would find him to be a waste of oxygen. Multiply that times infinity and that's where I'm at with God if he exists. I assume he's exercising his free will to not intervene.

The upside is you can pray to him and if it goes your way you can thank him. If it doesn't you can say "gods will" and still thank him and worship. Sounds like a win win. I'm good. I'll keep living life and doing the right thing the best I can and if there is a God fucking it I like warm weather.

I did too until I hit around 33 , 34 . Then it occurred to me that science had the mostly true answers and that the whole bible timeline was way off . My mother/sisters and their flock believe the Earth is only 10,000 or so years old , thats way off . As is everything else in the Bible .

"We and everything you see are the bye products of stars and evolution (time) thats what I believe...(same as ALL recognized collages)"
 
Being religious is cool, believing in God is cool, but if you truly believe everything in the bible is true you are either very uneducated or just an idiot.
