What do you think about God?

There's a miniseries on Netflix called "secrets of the Bible revealed" I believe and it's pretty mind blowing. I've never been religious but I've always been intrigued by the subject. It's crazy how our modern religions are based on a book that has been translated and interpreted so many times. Ever play the telephone game when you were a kid? Adam and Eve may just be a product of translating the Bible into another language. They weren't actual people, it just refers to 'man' and 'woman'. I could go on forever but I really recommend watching the series, believer or not,it's interesting

I tried explaining that to my last roommate...that the bible was not word for word how jesus wrote it because of the many different translations, and how maybe just maybe certain rulers having it translated may have just added or removed parts that they didnt like.

Point blank refused to believe what i was saying, we almost came to blows over it.

The crazy thing is that Jesus may not even be the son of god. There were many disciples (or whatever the he'll they're called) that did the same thing and had a similar life story as Jesus. I can't remember it all, I need to watch the series again! And Jesus never truly arose from the dead. In the original bible he died and his body was stored in a tomb (to keep fresh until burial a couple days later) and some ladies came by a few days after and his body was gone. End of story. (Because he was already buried) Then in later versions it was added that he came back to life.

The entire premise of the bible and the entire key to salvation is believing jesus is the son of man and that he died for your sins. Without that your missing the entire point of the book. He was a martyr for our sins. The only perfect being to ever exist took on the burden of our sins by dying on the cross.

The disciples were chosen by god to translate his words thru the bible divided in to books or sections. Example, book of matthew, mark, Luke, John etc. All NEW testament. He used very unperfect people to demonstrate his works. For example Paul the apostle killed and murdered christians before god used him as a vessel for christ.

Now to your last statement, in the late 1940's we discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls which has more or less added to what we believe the bible should of been in its entirety. Interesting stuff for sure. Stuff that wasnt in the widely accepted king james version

I always find these discussions interesting mainly because of the strong positions on both sides with minimal actual facts from either side.

Wars are fought over this shit and it's essentially opinion and faith. Crazy shit.

In part
A large portion of the bible is HISTORY. Not just opinion
For example Jesus is actual HISTORY. He existed and science acknowledges this fact. Even marking time with AC or BC

I get the history part it's the feats and what he was is more what I mean by opinion.

I may be incorrect but even the Muslims acknowledge his existence just not his position.

I just find it an interesting topic. Most people who aren't undecided may never change their view but it still makes for good discussions.

That's exactly what I'm saying, according to the researchers in the documentary that I watched (take it for what it's worth) they were stating that Jesus may not be the actual son of god and if that's the case, what does that mean? I think there was a whole episode about the Dead Sea scrolls but I can't recall much about them, going to have to watch again sometime!

Yes, believing jesus is the son of man is the faith part

I do know the bible acknowledges the prophet muhammed to have walked the earth. Not by name specifically. Just that there will be others who claim to be sent from god. I believe jesus came before muhammed did or muhammed walked the earth on the latter part of Jesus life. But it is interesting to me

I'm going to stop playing the activist brother, but do you seriously believe that history is objective? And that there is a universal logic? Please, if you read a bit of Aristotle and study some symbolic logic, you will begin to realize that all we can do is trust. And no GG I have not made any copy paste; This shows that I am good at my job. :)
