I started this because I wanted to contribute. Do I have all the answers no, but I do know where to find them.

Fire away meso members im no guru buy all means but what you will get here is no internet garbage. just personal first hand experience and if I don't know I will say so.

Im very proud of the fact that most of my life was spent competing natural and placing in our nationals at a high level, im one of those people who I love others calling me out.

I have been lucky to mix with some awesome body builders and the highlight of my career was standing nest to lee priest 100% clean and placing, now I know this might sound argent but its true.

I wish to share what I have been blessed with so this is my way of putting something back, lets talk about posing, stage presence, tan choices, carb loads, music choices and how you hold yourself during compulsories.

this is a very good thread.... something this forum needs. I think this forum overall lacks support for what after all fuels the use of anabolics which is competitive bodybuilding.

Is that you in your avatar? and if so mind posting more contest pis?

No doubt - Shredded is shredded , at 49 not bad , Ive got a few years on top of that . Welcome to the Meso Half-Century BB Club ,lol. ~Ogh

Yes welcome.. Was there certain things you had to either work on/bring up more? Was size an issue? If so what helped you gain it?

Thanks guys, I started this because I made the same rookie mistake I hate others doing on my boards in Aus, went straight to to roid section and asked questions, got my bum smacked as would be expected.

So I started this to create some cred , yes that is me in my Avi at 48, No problem posting more pictures but instead of this being all about me why don't we create a thread where all members can post pictures.

Lets start a picture thread where you guys can log your progress it can be anonymous with know face shots. After all this is a bodybuilding site isn't' it and I would welcome giving some advice if I can.

Oraegongearhead if that's your avi im done, fuck man you look amazing, please put some of your pictures up to good to stay hidden.

Newtoketo, that's a hard one always had problems with my arms, for me form is everything, you will see guys lifting heavy but for me this never worked, the mind muscle connection can never be overstated, we always chase size but I realized early in the piece I could never match it with the size monsters, so now I concentrate on symmetry.

Im going to be blunt and answer your last question up front, years ago genetics had a huge role to play not now. The pros have two attributes one the ability to aborsobe huge amounts of drugs with minimal sides and symmetry.

Thank you everyone who took the time to contribute to this thread, I would really like to see a place on here where you guys can post pictures of your progress,

What did it feel like standing next to lee priest. Lee had a beautiful frame one of a kind. Never met him but appears he can match his ego aswell lol.

Thanks Shredded - your miles ahead of me there brother , you've done what I want to do . Your gonna get hounded here about diet bigtime , we all want that shredded look but most of us cant put the fork down long enough to achieve it (yours truly)......
I see Oregonstrong has chimed in , we both try to run a diet thread here and look forward to your vast experience and wisdom . Thanks ~Ogh

You guys look fucking incredible, especially for your age. I'm only 32 but hope I look like either of you when I'm 50! I have to keep up for 20 more years...you guys set the standard pretty high. Nice job!

@shredded- I realized after looking back at this thread that I should have first of all welcomed you to MESO before plundering you with questions. So.............welcome brother and we look forward to your expertise and knowledge. This is a great thread and thank you for starting it.

Sorry for the late reply mate comp prep has started.
To stand there with him was one of the highlights of my career, I can remember at the weight in looking at him and thinking, what the hell am I doing here look at this monster.

Even back then you could tell he had something special, up close his arms are simply amazing, I think he has muscles on his biceps that I can't even find on a anatomy chart, he is short though and when he's big it makes him look even shorter.

As for his personality well lets just say its not my cup of tea.

@shredded- can you give us a breakdown of what your offseason and precontest diet looks like?
Thanks

Wow that's a huge question but I can give you some basics,
Meal one, 4 large whole eggs scrambled with 50 grams of prawns or ham, 200grams of yogurt and 2 peace's of wholemeal toast.

Meal Two pasta and mince with a tomato based sauce.

Meal three rice and fish

Meal four post workout HWPI with juice.

Meal five salad or veg's with about 250 grams of a lean protein source.

That's the base of it but with a lot more thrown in, at this stage I don't count macros too much or think I need to eat every 3 hours. I pretty much know buy looking at my meat that for every 50grams it will contain approximately 10 grams of protein, same with carbs.

Im a big fan of carb cycling which for me works well. high carb days will be about 300 and low about 100 grams.

If I get the time I will try and right up exact figures and amounts but to tell you the truth these days I mainly play it buy ear, if I get up in the morning and think I look flat then that day I will increase carbs. I have a base plan but it always changes as I try and find that perfect balance.

Thanks for your kind words to be honest I never expected this thread to generate so much interest but im glad it has.

Keep pushing hard mate as bodybuilding for me is like building a brick wall, your putting one brick in at a time and seem to be getting know where. Then one day you step back and have a look at the wall and think man did I build all that, you couldn't see it before because you were to close. Only when we set back to see where we have come from will you see the changes that have taken pace, old pictures are a good example of this.

Ha Ha I here you brother I love my food to and my junk food, but I find I must walk to keep things under control, I love going out to dinner with my wife or a group of people so for me that's too much pleasure to miss out on so I just walk it of even during the off season.

I'll head over to the diet section and have a look thanks for the heads up.

Thanks mate and welcome to the thread glad to have you aboard.

They look better then the majority of youngins in they're 20's pushing for an npc show

Well that's the beauty of wisdom, as you get older you need to train smarter and to be honest there are very few guys I see at my gym who have a clue about the process involved in building a physique. Most well look ok but its mainly quality gear and youth on there side, there certainly is no focus or intensity involved in training the targeted muscle group. Some get it most don't.

LOL well that simply will not do. All good mate the fact you chose to be a part of this was welcome enough, thank you.

Shredded thank you for the replies brother. So it looks like you are pretty low fat and eat carbs with every meal besides the last meal of the day.........

If you get a chance could you stop by https://thinksteroids.com/community/threads/what-does-your-diet-consist-of.134355406/page-7 and critique my current diet plan? I am using a carb cycling/nutrient timing approach. Basically no added dietary fat, 40-50 grams protein per meal, 6-8 meals per day, carbs in morning, fibrous carbs during day when less energy is needed, and slow and fast acting carbs around workouts. Non-training days would be low carb because I basically eliminate the carbs I am usually eating around the workout.

@shredded considering you say you have stand on stage with a natural physique and rocked it. What do you think is achievable beyond that point with the help of anabolics and peptides? In other words, what stands out in a physique of anabolics vs natural in terms of total body composition? Besides the extra weight. Atleast easily in the eye?

Have to chim in here and say both shredded and ogh are in amazing condition if they were to say they were in the early 20s never mind any older, I tip my hat to both of you
