This is exactly what I do. I just left an administrative position at a company to being almost the lowest man on the totem pole. I don't care who it is I help them. Always on time, polite, excellent work ethic. They actually took me off my 90 days and gave me an$2.50 raise on the 19th day. Less then 3 weeks. My 12 working day there to be exact.

You just described my uncle (only ten years older than me). He treated my grandparents that way for a long time. Two years ago he married a real piece of shit who doesn't work so he got a job actually got an extremely nice paying maintenance job he stopped bumming from my grandparents and is now getting a taste of working your ass off just to have someone else spend it.

I have one in my family, very similar. Past few years he's developed a trend of getting hurt at work and using that as an excuse for his laziness. I want to slap him and point at my forearm scar, the giant scars on my legs and make him understand that just because shit hurts doesn't mean you can bang out of life. But, we all know that's not why guys like this do what they do. Guys like us get hurt and go put in overtime. Guys like that put as much or more work into avoiding real life than real life would take out of them.
