Why do some take DHEA and Pregnanolone on TRT?

I went in for labs today. Progesterone and DHEA are being checked. But I just looked at Fitomics and the Pregnenolone, MS lab only costs $60. It’s not cheap but not crazy expensive either. Maybe I’ll get that checked next time.
I bought this, seems pretty good

I've seen plenty of suggestions that you are welcome to supplement if you need it; I suppose you gotta test for it. I personally have tested it and my DHEA was fine, but the pregnenolone was zero. I find that supplementation doesn't help me, or gives me side effects.

Dr crisler (RIP) started all his patients on all of this as the feedbackloop and cascade of hormones all interact and are affected when adding test…. So he had all his patients using both preg and dhea

I tried using both… my dhea use to be pretty high and i felt awesome but preg made me feel like garbage… dhea i never really saw much of a benefit… but both could help i suppose
Seems like there is a diversity of anecdotes when it comes to pregnenolone. I certainly don’t feel any worse on it. They’ve used up to 500mg in a few studies.

It’s at the top of the hormone cascade so if I had to guess, the people who don’t feel as well on it are getting it converted to some of the wrong hormones, which could be a dosage issue (either too low or high, tbd).

Personally, I think there are benefits to boosting our progesterone levels so that’s where I see a pretty good use case for it. I also don’t love seeing a depleted level.

Side note, I forgot to mention in the earlier post that pregnenolone also converts to pregnenolone sulfate, and there isn’t a blood test for checking that to the best of my knowledge, unfortunately.

I see they have DHEA 5mg - 100mg. Depending on the results of my lab I might do a twice daily SR 25mg plus Pregnenolone if needed.
