Why there almost certainly is No God!!

Mac, I say this completely without malice. Your above argument is without substance. While you were abused as an impressionable young schoolboy it doesn’t mean there is no God. It only proves the weakness in the human spirit.

When I was in school I had teachers smack my left hand with a ruler. It made my knuckles red but it didn’t make me write right-handed. That kind of mind-set years ago didn’t make everyone right-handed. It certainly didn’t make all teachers bad.

Years ago, I was a deacon in a church and was asked to shave my beard off because it offended another member of the church. He thought I looked like a “Hippie”. Incidentally that particular member contributed thousands of dollars. That didn’t mean there is no God. It only meant that sometimes Christians don’t act much like Christ and the Elders in that church liked money more than my beard.

The continued abuse of those who believe in God, by those who do or don’t believe in God, will not prove there is no God. Since I believe there is a One and Only God, you can call it “fairy story rubbish”, you can call it “hocus pocus”, but it wont make God go away. It may just prove that you will not respect my right to believe in God…or that you had some bad experiences from people who are supposed to emulate Christ, and fail to do so, only proving my point that the human spirit is weak and fallible.

As humans, we simply act like there is no God. That doesn’t make it so.

FWIW; I don’t cower, I try not to be too greedy, and the only power I want these days, is the power to keep my old Ford tractor running:)
without substance? have you seen him? cos i def have not, just like i've never seen a fairy, santa claus or a ghost. so where is your substance?
im not relating my experiences as a reason not to believe this hocus pocus, i related that short experience to highlight the fact that religion is about control and nothing else.
in contrast, i think believers are weak mainly in the fact they cant face reality without a fake crutch to prop them up, we decide our destiny and our path, not any non tangible and unproven fairy in the sky. in my view the truly strong minded amongst the human race are the ones that rise above this rubbish.

we are made from organic matter and once that organic matter ceases to sustain itself we die and cease to be. imho a dreamless sleep pretty much = what death will be, a cessation of consciousness.

we are easily tricked into believing in ghosts and santa etc when we are children, some ppl just dont grow out of the god think...........

and btw, if anyone anywhere can show conclusive evidence that religion and 'god' are both reality then im all eyes, until then i'll stick with evolution.
im not telling anyone to not believe, im just merely pointing out how ridiculous i think it is, its up to everyone else want they want to do.

How do you know this?...about death. Do you know anyone who has experienced this?
How do you know that you evolved? And from What? How do you know you were born?

no obviously i dont know anyone who has experienced this hence i stated IMHO
it is what i believe to be plausible, as in when we do kick the bucket, we're not going to know anything about it. the body shuts down upon sleeping and you arent conscious, and when you die your body most def shuts down, i see a similarity here.

how do i know i was born? eh, science kinda sheds light on that part and the hospital records and plus the fact my mother would would have a fair idea i popped out from inside her.

how do i know i evolved? apes.plenty of conclusive evidence on this theory and some posted by Dr Scally on this very thread. much more plausible than adam and eve etc.

science would be the most important hint in this post.

so, im waiting on your theory about a greater being, who incidently changes form and demands to be worshipped differently, according to the different and ironically conflicting 'cults'.

if someone sprang up tomorrow and claimed to be the second coming, would you believe him/her? no you wouldnt, because we no longer are uneducated simpletons, and he/she still wouldnt be believed in 2k years from now either

have you considered the bible may be based around a whack job? why does a degree of a long lost time make anything more plausible and necessarily true? ppl led simple lives and were easily conned long before the planet became a modern communicative place, have you considered that the rich used fire and brimstone to control and extract what they wanted?

i honestly do not know anyone around my age who leads a religiously based life anymore, in stark contrast to the fact that 20-25 years ago it was considered shameful to not go to mass. the majority do not think like this anymore and younger generations are even more oblivious to religion. based on that, the two main religions in Ireland and the UK will eventually end up in mythology where i think they rightfully belong.

i honestly fail to see how ppl still believe in this fairy story rubbish. when i hear someone banging on about 'the almighty' i cant help but think 'are you seriously so blindingly stupid'?!

So I guess you've told your kids there's no Santa Claus already [:o)]

A universe without purpose
New revelations in science have shown what a strange and remarkable universe we live in.
Pondering a universe without purpose - latimes.com

Perhaps most remarkable of all, not only is it now plausible, in a scientific sense, that our universe came from nothing, if we ask what properties a universe created from nothing would have, it appears that these properties resemble precisely the universe we live in.

Does all of this prove that our universe and the laws that govern it arose spontaneously without divine guidance or purpose? No, but it means it is possible.

And that possibility need not imply that our own lives are devoid of meaning. Instead of divine purpose, the meaning in our lives can arise from what we make of ourselves, from our relationships and our institutions, from the achievements of the human mind.

Imagining living in a universe without purpose may prepare us to better face reality head on. I cannot see that this is such a bad thing. Living in a strange and remarkable universe that is the way it is, independent of our desires and hopes, is far more satisfying for me than living in a fairy-tale universe invented to justify our existence.

No proof, but I thought that's why it's called faith?

You mean proof acceptable to the Atheistic Scientific Community. I dont want to put words in your mouth, but there is proof all around us. The sense that I can make of all the doubt, is...The Atheistic Scientific Community has succumbed to the religion of 'Disbelief'. The problem is their formulas are adjusted constantly making their argument a moving target.

There are the Apologists like Dr Lawrence Craig that shoot some pretty big holes in the sails of Harris, Krauss, Hawking and others. The result of the 'Religion of disbelief', likened to the 'Religion of Evolution', become hard set in their mind even though their argument is continually fluid.

If and its a big if. If the A-theist had a nimbleness of mind to match his/her continually moving argument, there might be hope, to rationalize the 'Perfect Design, Perfect Order. Starting from 'Nothing' the way God did it, does not make us worthless, empty boxes. It makes us 'Delightful in His sight' :)

god = fraud and you're a sheep my friend.....

Like many things in life; some have it, some don't and some don't give a damn.
So be it.

God cannot be disproven. How many times have atheists dug up bones and claimed it's the huge breakthrough and it wasn't? They want to disprove God because they don't want God to exist. They start with the premise that God must not exist.

Or proven, i.e. faith (belief that is not based on proof).

If God had wanted to prove himself to the world he could simply appear on the sky. If he did that everyone would be struck by fear and then it would no longer be free will. Also this isn't just about proof it's also an issue of the heart. If someone does not want to believe nothing will ever convince him. I heard many testimonies of scientists who came to faith in God and started with own research, some even trying to disprove God. Research and facts can point a person into the right direction but I don't think that facts can ever be enough. In the end it always comes down to faith and making a decision.

I personally believe there is limitless evidentiary proof just no recent near sightings or documented "closed encounters".
