WKM's working sources for free gear behind the scenes

@bhog said almost that exact thing to me the other day, lol. This other board is another AAS board, by the way.

I like the "rating" system for posts over on that other board. I can mark that I agree with the post, just found it funny, or that it as helpful/informative... They might have went a little overboard on all the different emotions you can display though lol.

I don't think the titles work the same as they do here though either... I did think it was an interesting idea for Meso so that new members can see who just makes lots of jokes versus someone that posts information that many others have found helpful.

I think getting rid of it would be interesting. Someone said it you then would have to converse more and get an idea of someone somewhat more personally. Not just seeing a sign that says hes legit. You must research to find out if the person is good. Not being spoon fed info sort of.

Yeah, I haven't figured everything out over there yet. Hadn't logged in anywhere but here in over a week. Haven't been posting here much with everything going on. I was thinking TID had a similar system, but not sure.

Anyway, I do think that system has potential. Those boards being moderated would somewhat keep them from being abused. Like i was saying with the feuds here I could see angry trolls putting negatives on all of someone's posts. I'm definitely not saying we need moderation here because fuck that. I'm just not sure where the solution lies. Maybe just doing away with titles or making them much harder to attain. Or maybe a test run with an intricate system, I don't know.

Northern Muscle. I always forget this isn't a Canadian board.

On a side note, I've not been here for long, but people are like WKM, he must know what he's sayiing.

I only know what works for me.

Nope, I'm in the US. Not a member of any Canadian boards.

Status is somewhat necessary so someone new to AAS isnt advising another new guy (happens a lot with regurgetated bad info*) but the system should be updated, to what? I'm not sure. WKM has to be harder and some people should have higher rank than they have. Mands should be awesome for years with the advise and service he's done. I'm sure he doesnt care, but it would be a shame for someone to listen to me over him. Or Mindless giving advice...wtf? The only reason the Cdnguy drama got where it was is his rank also. Dont scrap the system, but changes are good.

*Like everyones first cycle HAS to be Test @500

I like the social aspect of LIKES and the back n forth that threads normally take. If all we have to talk about is fucking bench presses and AI doses itll get boring here real damn quick. Its not enough to sustain MESO. Its nice to have characters and joking and yes real value posts. But rating them ONLY on LIKES or DISLIKES or some sort of member devalue system is fucking stupid. Politics here will abuse that in short order.

I would ask for all of us to be just MEMBERS but still keep track of accomplishments here just have them mean nothing to "status". Keep likes, post counts etc but no impact on member status

^^^^ My thoughts exactly. Maybe factor time of membership into obtaining WKM status? Raising the bar somehow would be a step in the right direction.

I say just list the posts vs likes under or next to the user's name and join date. If a guys has 10k posts to 1k likes he obviously spits out drivel all day with 0 content or he's full of shit. If a guy has 10k likes to 1k posts it will show he's a quality poster. And it will show us guys like me who sit in the middle who either don't have the magnitude of knowledge that some do but contribute and with answers to a thread/question with first hand knowledge when few others have answered with anything meaningful. Guy like me are dead split between likes and posts due to limited time or knowledge but we contribute when we can and stay loyal to the site.

I know this was brought up a few months back how WKM's are running a little racket behind the scenes to get free gear in turn for reviews and to help new UGL's or Suppliers get a foot in the door.

Just wondering if anyone has anymore info on these members? I myself have found a couple soon to be named.

If you want to call out anyone, this is your chance. Please have proof when doing so.

mands
It never ends. Some members don't value their reputations. We always find out anyway.

Members deservedly like to be rewarded and recognized for their contributions. The status awards are an attempt to do that but reflect a flawed system. It would be great if MESO had an algorithm that could recognize quality contributions. But it doesn't. As such, the status titles are largely meaningless.

Obviously, the current status titles are being abused to manipulate sources. This is one harm. But their are others too such as newbies relying solely on status to determine expertise and quality of advice.

Given this, is NO status title system better than a flawed one?

Members do like to be recognized but in creating the status titles they begin to ignore the quality of the person's posts and base their opinions solely on status. I couldn't care less if titles are kept or not as I know whose information I can trust and whose I can't based on their post history. Plus, giving up my title was one of the easiest decisions I've made on here.

Unfortunately it is definitely a double edged sword. New members join and most(not all) will take the word of a wkm over a junior member everyday of the week. Its only recently that I realized some of the newer members are very well informed. And most wkm just instantly write them off. There is no perfect solution to this problem. I know at some point members get heated over certain topics. When a junior member sees a bunch of wkms acting like children how can any of us demand their respect. I know I've been an asshole numerous times but it usually involves steering kids away from AAS. Although the God thread fires me up all the time. I've gotten into it big time with @Dr Scally and @Docd187123. But at the end of the day I respect both of them and they've both helped me out tremendously. I think the status system should go. I know I'm a nobody on this site but good and bad info comes from all members. Myself included. @Millard Baker I honestly don't know how you hold this site together as well as you do. And I apologize for the times I've been a dick to members. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

We def got into it a couple times lol but at the end of the day I would not hesitate to shake your hand, thank you for your service to our country, and buy you a few shots of some nice tequila.

We need to differentiate between members who have contributed over time, otherwise we have 3 month vets with status. Likes are a popularity contest and have little to do as far as quality of posts. I feel both likes and time on board need to be factored in. Say 5000 likes and 2-3 years on the board.

What is the average time members stay on meso? My guess is a year or less. A few have been here for several years.

I also feel that members who have made contributions on other boards need to be considered for higher status.

Make it a community based system, not quotes or replies. Masteron gets quoted ALL the time, because he's a fucking moron. Some newb will see his wkm title and think the BS he spills forth is true. Add a "add rep" button AND a "remove rep" button. You can only add or remove from one person per post. That way we get to decide who's getting "titles" and not post count or quotes.
