I have a question about the polls!

Who on this board has ever been called up to participate in a poll?

How do they get these numbers for the polls?

I do not think the polls mean shit. I am in contact with about 50 - 100 different people on a daily basis, and none of them has ever participated in a poll. I know this because I ask them!

I believe DICK done a good job. Edwards done ok for himself, however, if you really listen to his responses you notice he answers everything with a lawyer answer.

Whats worse than a politician? A politician that used to be a trial lawyer!!

In a truly scientific poll, in order to guarantee total randomness, a computer/logarithmic program is used to generate a call list.

Obviously this takes time, so a poll that takes place in the matter of 2 hours, should not be reported IMO.

Thanks for your response.

I was not sure how they choose participants for the polls.

The only thing I know is that I have never heard of anyone that has taken a poll. Maybe they will ask me on the next one, LOL!

Don't feel bad because I've never been called either, not has anyone I know!!! :D

Damn good debate I must say. Both of them speak very well. Cheney is more forceful, but Edwards is more charismatic. Either way, this debate was a much stronger case maker than the Presi. debate. Who won? I don't think anyone really won. They both said what they wanted to, and both showed different points of their parties goals. See, I hate when the VP was spitting out facts that we honestly dont know if they are true or not... Maybe they should have an update the day after the debate, to show if their facts were true or false. The part about the 90% of casualties are US, and 80% of the war was paid for by the US... no one knows if the budget was really 200billion.
I definately like Cheney though, he knows his stuff, and can debate with the best of them.
Either way, the VEEP debates are nothing, wait til this friday with the next presidential election.. if Bush looks as bad as he did last time, I think we might start seeing some sway towards the democrats.

Oh i forgot to mention good morning america... anyone catch it this morning? Gotta love when they catch a VP lieing during a debate... and have video to back it up.

I see this morning that the Kerry campaign is holding up this picture as proof that Cheney's final sentence was a lie. I don't think so, especially if you acknowledge the universally accepted notion that "meeting" someone involves face-to-face contact and the exchange of some form of expression like a handshake and/or a "hello." This pictures shows the two men in close proximity to each other but in no way disproves Cheney's statement last night.

I would also add that it is interesting that in four years of Cheney being president of the Senate, and Edwards being the senior senator from North Carolina for two of those years, that he and the veep never met in a meeting to discuss.... anything? No agriculture issue? No textile trade issue? Even a testy exchange over tort reform?

What has Edwards done in his time in the Senate?

You guys are delusional you've repeated the lie so many times you believe it. The administration has never said that there is a connection between Iraq and 9/11. Now I don't link Iraq to 9/11. However, I do link 9/11 to Iraq and the Administration does to and rightfully so.

Let me ask all you liberals this. Do you think that Iraq had no ties to terrorism and Al-Quiada because of the evidence you've seen, or because you want George Bush to loose?

Windigo, like usual is right, but as usual, isnt telling the whole story. The 9/11 commission said that their was no evidence that Iraq and Al Qaeda collaborated in any way with regards to the strike on 9/11. They acknowledge the possibility that in 1999 a representative of OBL's met with Saddam personally and requested that they be able to train the al Qaeda operatives within Iraq. The 9/11 commission was clear to point out however, that there is no evidence that Saddam allowed or even entertained the idea.

Saddam had contact with OBL's group on occasion, and was purported by Intellingence agency releases to pay 25k to the families of suicide bombers in Palestine and other arab countries . This is the same intelligence community however that couldnt follow the money trail to the 9/11 terrorists once the trail led them to Iraq.

lmao when i was a kid my dad got called to vote for Jesse Jackson lmfao. He was like yeah Jesse is my man

You guys can rant and rave all you want about Bush/Cheney. Say what you want, but at the end of the day here are the facts...
1. There are no WMD. Period end of story. Just say you made a mistake and move on, even Tony Blair did that!

2.Because Bush rushed to war with Iraq (for what we now know was no good reason) The US military is stretched to the breaking point, we have lost 1000+ American lives and spend over 200 billion dollars and counting.

3. He is the first President in 60 years to lose jobs on his watch.

4. This was the debt when Bill Clinton took office and when he left...
09/30/1992 $4,064,620,655,521.66
09/29/2000 $5,674,178,209,886.86
Just over 1.6 Trillon in EIGHT YEARS!!!!

These are the numbers for Bushs watch...
09/29/2000 $5,674,178,209,886.86
10/05/2004 $7,422,781,062,573.89
Just shy of 2 Trillion in FOUR YEARS!!!!

I could go on and on...

Folks, we won the cold war without firing a shot...how? Economically, thats how. When the terrorists (UBL who we haven't caught yet, but thats another point) hit us on 9/11 (not Saddam, again another point), it wasn't to kill as many people as possible (although it was a bonus to them) it was to economically cripple us. Now we are spending BILLIONS to fight people who are using home made cheap bombs. The terrorists goal is to destroy the economy of the USA and George Bush is playing right into that by driving us deeper and deeper into debt. Make no mistake about it, he has weakened our Military might, lost credibility in the world and will leave our children so far in debt that it will break our country in 25 years. You think the debt doesn't matter, ask Argentina. There economy collapsed because of debt.

Let the flame fest begin, I will only answer well thought out responses and without name calling.

Thanks guys.

Very good points VC, all valid and TRUE, not paranoia and fear propaganda. People forget what pays for our national defense system, if our economy folds everything else does. This president has dug America into a depper and depper hole. Clinton took on the job that was left a mess, by Bush SR. Turned it around and gave Bush JR a healthy SURPLUS econonmy that was booming. But in just a few short years, sure enough Bush JR somehow managed to put us back into deficit, lost jobs, and now fighting a war that will do AMERICA no good. I would like to congratulate Bush/Cheney and wish them luck because it is true "ruining America is an 8 year job"

Well put except for this part, "ruining America is an 8 year job". He did it in 4. Bitch is, I'm a Republican. Hope Bush is not counting on my vote.

Uh, no, they did find some. Enough to kill over 50,000 people. But that doesn't count, huh?

The military is stretched to the breaking point?? You're a moron and don't have a clue about what you're saying.

3. He is the first President in 60 years to lose jobs on his watch.

He was the first president to deal with a 9-11 attack. Funny how you give a time period as example that doesn't include major disasters, and anyone can see it because you want to make Bush look bad.

Huh, you do know there is such a thing as inflation, right? You do know that the percent of the GDP is quite reasonable, right? You also realize there was that little event called 9-11? Are you totally clueless?

Oh, so your plan is to let the terrorists just bomb us and we should just ignore it and spend more money at home! Good plan, Einstein!

Weakened out military? Are you retarded? Lost credibility in the world? Oh wow, some real creeps, socialists, and countries that were in Saddam's pocketbook think less of us. Boo hoo. That's the most pathetic argument ever. Do you know what a leader does? I'll give you a hint...he doesn't do what everyone wants when there is something that needs to be done.

You are also dumb if you think the country will break in 25 years from something like this. Maybe people like you would give up like a big pussy, but real people wouldn't be beaten by a little adversity.

So. let me get this right:
You're a moron and don't have a clue.
Are you totally clueless?
Good plan, Einstein!
Are you retarded?
You would give up like a big pussy.

Since you are obviously so articulate, maybe you can understand this. Internet fighting is like running in the Special Olympics, even if you win, youre still retarded.

I expected this type of stuff from some people, my advice is to lay off the Tren and provide a reasonable discussion without resorting to 8th grade tactics like name-calling. It belittles you.

This is how most (not all) but most Bush supporters respond folks, it doesnt do them any good and it will not do him any good in November.

everyone is entitled to their opinion, so here's mine ... kerry cant get it done, he is all talk. better yet, if kerry was elected and something happens to him do you trust in edwards to fill in. there is more to look at behind the scenes. imho, bush/cheney will get 4 more years and i hope my vote gets them there. the US will adapt and overcome any obstacle, we have in the past and we will continue to do so.
