I'd Rather Die Standing Than Live on My Knees - Charlie Hebdo Pays the Price for Free Speech

We let them into our country as well, and greeted them with open arms, to boot. The same shit will be happening in America as well. The only reason Europe is going down in flames faster than we are is because their countries are a rocks throw away from middle-eastern countries.
The US is ahead of Europe in building a police state and behind Europe in disarming its citizens, but both are moving generally in the same direction. Either way, the immigration will continue, and there's little we peons can do to stop it.

Right you are flenser. Wilson's decision to take us into what was basically another European war was a mistake. Also his decision at the same time to ignore the pleas of the nationalist movement in Vietnam led us into that war. The State department and intelligence agencies warned Eisenhower that if he recognized the statehood of Israel it would be a blood bath. Look at the players in the creation of the federal reserve. We have over 900 military bases in about 130 different countries.
I don't see an end to all the madness.

German newspaper target of arson attack after printing Charlie Hebdo cartoons

A German newspaper in the northern city of Hamburg that reprinted Prophet Muhammad cartoons from French paper Charlie Hebdo has been the target of an apparent arson attack. Authorities said no one was injured.

Police said “rocks and then a burning object" were thrown through rear court-yard windows into archive rooms of Hamburg's daily newspaper, the Hamburger Morgenpost around 0200 a.m. local time (0100 UTC).

Two people seen acting suspiciously in the area had been taken into custody, as authorities investigated further, police added, refusing to give more information about those detained.

The investigation had been handed to Hamburg city state's police and intelligence authorities.

Hebdo massacre connection?

The Hamburger Morgenpost had printed three Charlie Hebdo cartoons following last Wednesday's massacre in Paris. The Morgenpost headline on Thursday had read, “this much freedom must be possible.”

The “key question” authorities said early on Sunday was whether there was a connection between with the reprinting of the caricatures, adding that it is “too soon” to confirm such speculation.

“Thick smoke is still hanging in the air, the police are looking for clues,” the Hamburger Morgenpost wrote briefly in its online edition early on Sunday.

The German news agency DPA reported that contents in the newspaper’s archive rooms were destroyed in the apparent attack. No one had been injured in the incident.

"Two rooms on the lower floors were damaged but the fire was put out quickly,” police said.

Belgian paper evacuated

The offices of Belgium's "Le Soir" newspaper were also evacuated on Sunday after receiving a bomb threat. The paper had republished the Charlie Hebdo cartoons.

I personally got a huge kick out of all those politicians ("world leaders") trying to upstage the demonstrations on free speech - when they do so much to curtail it themselves. A new or expanded war is obviously in the works. Syria maybe?

Could be flenser....Here's a headline I saw last week.....
"The United Nations’ Response to ISIS Beheadings in Syria. “Resolutions” Calling for “Regime Change” on Behalf of Washington"

Also, punishing innocent civilians for the wrongdoings of a government is absurd... But you can't expect much from muslims, they aren't the brightest of humans on the planet. In fact, I'd wager pigs are more intelligent than most of them are.

I'm still waiting for the day that muslims are deported from all western countries, and are left in the desert to continue to kill each other as they have been doing for thousands of years. How can we expect a religion to be tolerant to western society when they can't even tolerate different sects of their own religion.
Punishing innocent civilians for the wrongdoings of any (terrorist) individual or group is absurd.

The French prime minister Valls has already officially declare France's "war on terrorism" in response to Charlie Hebdo massacre. His comments have regrettably been compared to former President Bush's post-9/11 war on terrorism speech.

Instead of being in fear of the terrorists, Americans should have been afraid of what the government would do to its own people in terms of using the new "war" as a pretense to erode the freedom and liberties of its citizens.

It's a pivotal moment for France. Will it truly remain committed to defending liberté, égalité, and fraternité? Or will it chip away at those principles with its own version of the Patriot Act and forms of government surveillance that unapologetically target non-terrorists?

"liberty and equality" That's funny. The French sure fought like hell to hold on to their "colonies" in North Africa, the Middle East and Indonesia.

Well, we know what the French (or any) government will do if unchecked, and the people are apparently focused on the wrong aggressor. At least it looked that way from the limited media coverage I managed to sit through. I routinely flip flop between being entertained by the absurdity of it all to being depressed by the reality it defines.

Read an article a couple of weeks ago and thought I would share. The article "The War Nerd: Why Sherman was right to burn Atlanta." Written by Gary Breecher. If you follow his findings, the same applies to Japan and Germany. Vietnam is another story. Have to wonder what that area of the world be today, if the US continued the bombing operations, stayed committed to ground forces and applied this approach.
I agree completely Millard... But that's what we do; Atlanta, Germany, Japan, Vietnam.......

Also wonder what it (and us) would look like if the US had kept its nose out of other people's business and not invaded at all.

I just got a copy of the book. I'll start reading it tonight. I have to disagree about Germany and Japan and there was nothing we could have done in Vietnam that would have made a difference. We had already dropped over 7 million tons of bombs. We could have gone into Cambodia and Laos (we did actually) . But then we'd have to deal with the Chinese. The Vietnamese fought the French for over 10 years and just continued on when we came in and took their place. Perhaps we should have listened to them when they asked for our help in the first place. And how many ground troops would have been enough to occupy the entire country. A whole division could get swallowed up in one of those valley's.
James Zumwalt put this a lot better than I could in his book about his experience with Vietnam. "Bare feet, Iron will"

I agree on Vietnam, short of nuking them, it was a lost cause to begin.

Charlie Hebdo cartoonist Bernard "Willem" Holtrop:

"We vomit on all these people who suddenly say they are our friends."

:)

"We have a lot of new friends, like the pope, Queen Elizabeth and (Russian President Vladimir) Putin. It really makes me laugh," Bernard Holtrop, whose pen name is Willem, told the Dutch centre-left daily Volkskrant in an interview published Saturday.

France's far-right National Front leader "Marine Le Pen is delighted when the Islamists start shooting all over the place," said Willem, 73, a longtime Paris resident who also draws for the French leftist daily Liberation.

He added: "We vomit on all these people who suddenly say they are our friends."

Commenting on the global outpouring of support for the weekly, Willem scoffed: "They've never seen Charlie Hebdo."

"A few years ago, thousands of people took to the streets in Pakistan to demonstrate against Charlie Hebdo. They didn't know what it was. Now it's the opposite, but if people are protesting to defend freedom of speech, naturally that's a good thing."

The Charlie Hebdo incident will get the whole Nationalist front movement rolling through Europe. Germany's party had 15k at their last rally the one next week I believe they are expecting 10x that number. It is getting eerily dangerous in Europe........AGAIN!!!!

Indeed. Europe faces to possible scenarios: 1) civil war, or, 2) it's culture will disappear in the face of rapidly changing demographics.

The West is old, tired, soft and weak. It no longer has the will to fight so it will choose option 2. Like it or not, the future belongs to Islam.

A military coup here in this country if handled quietly and properly might be an answer.
