311 - A Damn Good Rock Band

I have been listening to 311's Greatest Hits CD for the last 2 weeks nonstop in my car and at home. I LOVE 311, cannot get enough of those guys. I am glad I spent the $14.

Anyone out there who is looking for a kickass album, I mean a really, really, really good fucking album, either buy the CD or download it. 311 rocks very hard.

Great Tracks : 1,3,4,5,6,7,10,11,15,17 tracks 4 - "Amber" (which was in Adam Sandler's 50 First Dates) and 7 are my favorites

Track # 7 - "Creatures....For a While" God the first time I saw that video on MTV, I was moved. I cannot even begin to tell you how great that song is. Fellas, do me a favor - buy the CD or burn it off the net. Play "Creatures.....for a While" right there in your gym parking lot before you walk in for your workout. That song will fucking give you an extra 10% strength on all your lifts. Very moving, inspirational song.

i know i am going to take some heat for this...but 311 is the best band to sit back smoke a joint (only when off cycle) and just float away too ..this works great after a stressful day at work and then dealing with the girl....don't get me wrong it is once every 6 months that i smoke..if that..but 311 will be playing when i do

My all time fav. rock band, first cd "music" Rocks. Saw them about 13 years ago at lalapalooza and fell in love. Cant believe they have been around that long, music, grassroots, all of there albums have been good

If you ever get a chance to see these guys in person, do it. They put on the best damn concert i have ever seen...I wasnt really into the music the make, until i saw them live. Incredible. Very talented bunch of guys.

311 is so funky, they have such a funky sound. They remind me in a lot of ways of The Red Hot Chilli Pepper's guitarist - both of them are just so unique and funky.

The lyrics on all of their songs are just great. I can listen to a song, belt out the lyrics with them and everything fits..........everything makes sense, there is a method to their madness.

The bass player is a fucking BADASS. I swear 311's bass player is a fucking monster. So many songs, he just has these amazing riffs. I definitely would kill to play the bass as well as him.

Majors did they sound studio quality in concert............or did they sound concert quality?? I justy ask because that is a very tough job for a good band to pull off - sound as good in concert as on their CD.

Fellas Track#4 "Amber" God that song has so much heart, so much spirit. It will move you. It's infectious damnit, I hear it, and then I can't stop singing it for 45 minutes. which is actually cool because Amber is a BADASS song.

I have seen 311 probably 12-15 times. I havent seen them play in over a year, but I used to travel just to see them. You guys are right when you say they are the best live band.

Good live sound is as much a product of location and the technical expertise of the sound and mixing engineers,,,The best live sound I ever heard was a Grateful Dead concert at Englishtown Raceway in Jersey,,,Even a mile away the sound was crystal clear,,,I want to check these guys(311)out,,,Sounds like something I might favor,,,VDC

their old stuff isn't as bad (1996-98) but they still suck.

Crewboss, that's cool, to each his own. There are probably some bands you love that I cannot stand.

311 actually does not have a "lead singer". They have 2 guys, both of whom split the vocals roughly 50/50. So to say the lead singer sucks..........doesn't make any sense, because they do not have (1) lead singer.

Also Crewboss, I cannot disagree with you more On Linkin Park. I love Linkin Park. There music kicks ass, and out of all of my friends, not a single one dislikes them.

Maybe, but I seriously doubt it. Their music certainly is not indicative of any inherent racism in the band. Look at the lycrics to any of their songs from any of their albums - no hint of any racism.
