The Electoral college is a good mechanism to offset some of the inherent problems with proportionalities and simple majorities - ref European Polish Parliaments. The Euro model would be worse.

Well, to me it's a serious issue no matter who benefits or not, but I would think there are laws and there are government agencies that specifically are in charge of dealing with these specific scenarios. Problem being is these agencies are corrupted by whoever is in charge at the moment. Not to mention, no matter how wrong these acts are, they are only important to those who benefit along party lines. A common complaint I see that attempts to defuse the outrage that "should" infuse is the monetary aspect. Like as if monies that would be spent on a particular travesty is wasted because there is no profit. But not all investigations need to profit. Certainly plenty do.

There's a reason why studies are double blinded which is done to prevent confirmation bias and I feel like there will be plenty of that in his investigation.
