What are those poor injection techniques you guys talk about?
Not following proper sterility protocols while injecting.
For example, not swabbing vial top or skin before injecting. Not washing your hands and not loading your insulin needles in a sterile location.
I have personally done I bet 6-700 sub q injections. I’ve injected pretty much anywhere, on different angles. Sometimes I get a shallow IM injection, depending on place, like thighs for example, so there I inject at an angle, sometimes I don’t. I also use 5/16” pins. Btw, it is best bet if you keep sub q injection to less than 1 cc. Right now I’m pinning 3 times a day. A primo test mix that is .50 cc and gh @ .15 cc 2 times.
After all these injections one day I was slack being a dumb ass and did a tri injection but didn’t use proper sterility and got cellulitis. I went to ER got antibiotics and a week later it was gone. It was completely stupid on my part. First off I had stopped using alcohol wipes for about 2 years, I would just inject right out of the shower, and this particular time I was putting medication on my feet for athletes foot, had not done a tri injection for a while, pressed on the skin to see where to pin then injected thru my skin that now had athletes foot bacteria on it. Immediately after I injected I thought, fuck, I just gave myself an injection, that was stupid, then prayed I was wrong, but wasn’t.
Anyhow be sterile. Do not become lax just because you haven't got an infection fir years or ever, lol, or you will be explaining to the er doctor why you are a dumb ass. He told me quote unquote, “it happens”
