Interesting, those are like the zapcaps, not marked sterilehttps://www.southernlabware.com/sale/autofil-polypropylene-500ml-funnel-assembly-0-2-m-foxx-high-flow-nylon-membrane-12-cs-9394.html
What is the funnel for? I was under the impression that all you need is a bottle top filter and media bottle.https://www.southernlabware.com/sale/autofil-polypropylene-500ml-funnel-assembly-0-2-m-foxx-high-flow-nylon-membrane-12-cs-9394.html
Oh okay, I see thanks. The funnel is the bowl portion of the bottle top filter
Recipes
Deca has odd mL because I adjusted mL and overdose to populate/match powder quantity I had.

He’s using a hand pump but you could also use an electric vacuum pump which sucks it through the filter. There is a fitting on the filter to attach a line. Yes, you just transfer to vials. Some people put a septa cap on the media bottle. It’s not 100% sterile to do it that way. Only way to be 100% sterile is a true clean room. Bet you worry about your ugl gear now lolNow i'm confused. You would pour the unfiltered oil into the filter bowl thing there and let gravity do the rest?
When it's done filtering, then what? Do you just transfer it into vials from there? How do you maintain sterility doing that?

The glass pipette goes inside the plastic pump? After filtering into a sterile media jar, I have a septa cap, on that jar, that has a hole in it large enough to stick these sterile pipettes through and draw up the oil. Then dispense it into sterile vials and place the stopper on that vial then on to the next. Below is the pipette pump and pipettes I use.

Wow very interesting! Thanks for that, I'll pick them up if I ever start capping. One end of the pipette sticks into the pump then you roll the wheel and the plunger goes up and creates a vacuum that pulls the liquid into the sterile pipette
I pour into a 60ml now. Hell, air balances in/out of vials every time you draw (hence BA in solution). I'm not saying leave the caps off sitting there and AC unit blasting but this works and is solid. Drawing from a media bottle sucks but I like septas for when I'm in a hurry and lazy.Given an area that has been wiped down, and an air purifier in the room running for some time.
You can simply remove plunger from a 60ml syringe, and backfill by pouring from media bottle.
Dangerous?
Think about filling vials.
You have to uncover the vial to use a pipette to fill. For a short time, exposed.
Have you seen an actual factory setting for vials being filled?
The vials ride along a conveyor, uncapped, then under a couple of fill nozzles. I have seen fill nozzles a half inch above top of vial. Once again, exposed to surrounding air as hormone oil is emitted into vial.
Sure, the area was put together in a precleaned decontaminated room. You have to enter through the decontamination air burst door thingy. I sure don't have that in my bathroom. I also don't wear a suit like I am about to make contact with alien life forms.
Me pouring filtered gear from a sterilized media bottle, half inches from a sterile 60ml syringe topped with a 20G needle, then placing plunger back into opening, flipping over then seating plunger.... into a vented sealed vial... works just fine.
I have not had any issues.
I do have GL45 open top caps, and awaiting septas. Turns the media bottle into a large vial.
That is my method in the future.
However, for the longest, I used method outlined above.

FancyIn fact this is what the entire pipette looks like

Anyone else use these? Thinking about grabbing somehttps://www.southernlabware.com/sale/autofil-polypropylene-500ml-funnel-assembly-0-2-m-foxx-high-flow-nylon-membrane-12-cs-9394.html
