To be honest I haven't actually looked at them yet because I'm on a mobile but I will when I have time. I'm assuming they aren't sterile or they are unusable for filter hormone because of the price. All of the 10-20/packs that sell for $10-20 that I've seen are for cosmetic/vet/lab use.

I would stear clear of Naglene. Ive heard that they crack pretty easily.

Im hearing the same thing ...i always use 22um 25mm PVDF syringe filter...its the best for me..i actually order mines on ebay...maybe a no brand company but it never failed on me.

Brother, when you show a picture with sexy gear vials with brand label and more than a handful of them, you know viewers are going to think you are likely selling gear. I totally see that coming. I am kinda jealous of your brew. Hoping to brew me some very soon but not nearly as much you though

Ok fellas, up till now ive just been filtering via syringe filter into sealed sterile vials. Can yall chime in on how you all go about sterilizing open vials and stoppers? I have a couple buddies that want some gear and i would like to put caps on the vials via a crimper tool. Not sure you can use that on a sterile vial that already has a stopper in it or can you?
You can pry the cap off and remove the stopper and then recrimp another cap once you replace the stopper but you will be forfeiting the low cost of open top vials. There are a few threads in here giving methods of sterilizing your glassware.

Also, do use a sterile syringe filter or non-sterile? Does it really matter?

I'm assuming that if you bought non-sterile that you could sterilize them in the oven or auto-clave.

Why wouldn't you want to use a sterile filter? You want your gear to be sterile, right?

Ye - obviously. If I were to buy an un-sterile I would sterilize in the over before use. I'm just having an hard time finding the whatman ones that i normally use under a quantity of 100. Honestly, just trying to see if there is an alternative to the Whatman that ppl here have had success with. @Lukesky152 stated he orders of ebay, most of the PVDF ones on there I saw are un-sterile.
Oh okay, I didn't realize you were able to sterilize vials full of hormone in the oven after filtering, maybe I'm confused. Anyways, I stated the same thing, most bulk syringe filters on eBay/Amazon are non -sterile.

Sorry guys - I know I'm posting alot today but my next brew I wont be using pre-sterilized vials. So, if I'm using open vials and stoppers:
After sterilizing the vials in the oven and wrapping in tinfoil, would I just filter via a syringe filter directly into the open vial through the tinfoil? Would it be possible that a piece of the tinfoil would end up in the vial? Or, would I take the foil off real quick even though it would expose the inside of the vial to air?
Once again sorry for sounding like such a noob, I just want to get this right. As previously stated, I've only ever used sterile vials with stoppers already in place.
