Cats

I was going to cook something for the kitties on Thanksgiving, anybody know any good recipes or how it has gone for you in the past?

Something like this work?

  1. 1/2 cup organic chicken (raw, ground)
  2. 1/2 cup chicken liver (raw)
  3. 1/2 cup grains (brown rice or oatmeal, cooked)
  4. 1/4 cup zucchini (raw, or raw carrots or cooked green beans or winter squash, finely grated)
  5. vegetable broth to moisten.

This is the first photo I ever took with BUB next to the last photo I ever took with BUB.

I know that BUB has always written these newsletters. But today I have to do it, because BUB has finally gone back to space.

On the morning of Sunday, December 1st 2019 we lost the purest, kindest and most magical living force on our planet. BUB was cheerful and full of love laying in our bed with us Saturday night, but unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep.. I have always been fully transparent about BUB's health, and it was no secret that she was battling a persistent and aggressive bone infection. Even knowing this, we weren't expecting her to pass so soon or so abruptly without warning. I truly believe that she willingly made the decision to leave her failing body so that our family would not have to make that difficult decision ourselves.

It is impossible to put into words the profound effect that BUB has had on my life, on the lives of thousands of homeless pets, and on the lives of those of you that have cared for her as if she were your own family. She taught me everything that I know about unconditional love, she brought my wife Stacy and I together, she's the reason we have our beautiful children Rosco and Lula, and she has been a constant source of warmth and love in our lives for the past 8 years. To say that our family is devastated would be an understatement.

But most importantly, BUB has made a huge difference in the world of animal welfare, and in the lives of millions of people worldwide. She has literally saved thousands of lives (both pets and humans), she started the first national fund for special needs pets, she was the subject of groundbreaking genetic and biological research, she's helped raise over $700,000 for animals in need, and has spread a message of determination, positivity, and perseverance to people all over the world. And even though my heart is absolutely crushed by her graceful departure from planet Earth, I know that her sprit, magic, and overwhelming energy are still with us, reminding us every day to be better.

Dearest BUB, I will never forget your generosity, your limitless supply of love, or your uncanny ability to bring so much magic and joy to the world. I am forever honored and humbled that you chose me as your caretaker. Please visit all of us in our dreams often.

Anybody have weird habits with their cats?
-Sometimes I synchronize my breathing with them when they are lying on my chest or close to my face.

-With the Stray cat I have Junior, he is really "shy" still even though it has been two years. He doesn't make a lot of eye contact with me and many times I try to put him above me in elevation and make eye contact with him. In an attempt to make him feel more special.

They are probably thinking "WTF is he doing, silly human."

I heard that purring could be an evolutionary trait to help reduce blood clots. I thought that was interesting figured I would share.

Sorry for the late condolences to Dr. Scally for his loss. I am also an animal lover and have also lost some very special dog and cat family members over the years. How wonderful that Sam got to spend his final year in the arms of a loving family.
He deserved to end up with a family like yours.
All animals do.

Sam - He entered our lives a bit more than 5 years ago. Sam was the name I gave to him since he looked like your "everyday" cat. He was an extremely ill rescue. He was so malnourished that clumps of fur would fall off while being petted. The balls of his paws were the palest white I had ever seen.

My wife and I took turns attending to him. He had to be hand fed. At first, he was even too weak to stand for an extended period. Walking was not even an afterthought. I recall the first time I went to groom him and his fur just fell off revealing bald spots. I was worried he might not make it.

Well, Sam did make it and more. We have a number of cats, but Sam immediately became the statesman. His calm demeanor, friendliness, and confidence was a site to see. And, boy was he affectionate. One of his habits was to crawl up on my back and kneed. He did the same at night to the top of my wife's head. He was always willing to sit on a lap. Purring was as constant as his presence.

This past week, tragedy struck. His appetite almost disappeared overnite. What we thought was Sam trying to expel a hairball turned out to be worse, far worse. A visit to the vet showed Sam to be in heart failure with severe pulmonary edema. While the vet is unsure for the cause, he thinks cancer is the best guess. We took him home hoping he might improve, but his condition has worsened. He is losing weight daily. He will not take any food except for liquids sparingly. He lies in one place.

I do not make a habit of posting personal events as most will know. Sam will be missed.

Cats are jerks

I swear our cat is a little shit on purpose. She's a great cat but she knows exactly how to push our buttons and I KNOW it's intentional lolol

One of the things she does is stare at us, directly in the eyes, and without breaking eye contact, walk over to one of our carpets and start clawing it and when we clap or say hey!! she gets excited and runs away

She does a million things like this and we do find it funny but damn is it ever annoying
