Conventional Mobil 10W-30 or Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-30???

Oil...

Bro,

Oil is only 1/2 the equation. A good oil filter is also part of the longevety equation. If you can afford it...the Mobil-1 filter is the best, but costs $10 a pop. Another good alternative is the NAPA Premium...basically a top-line Wix filter.

AVOID: Fram...total garbage. there are lots of filter and oil tests on the net. Read up...

I use Mobil-1 5/30 synthetic with a Motorcraft Filter (I have a Ford...bout it at 17,000 miles and now have 125,000 in 3 years), and my baby purrrrrs.

Hope this helps....

Oh....5000 miles easy with synthetic. Blackstonelabs.com has tested customer's oil (you can send in a sample too) and after 7500 miles, the oil still had life. I change mine every 5000 miles.

5/20 is too thin..not enough oil on the bearing surfaces when you start it up...

DBP Have you checked the owners manual for the recommended oil change interval? I'm guessing it's around 4k, and did you want a manual transmission? Those are extremely rare in the Camry.

I just checked my Camry owners manual and I am shocked............every 5,000 miles oil change if driving in "extreme" conditions (ie stop and go driving, frequent short trips, etc.....) Every 7,500 miles oil change if driving in "routine" driving conditions.

So every 5,000 miles then I guess.

Yes, I had to drive 300 miles to pick up my Camry because it is EEXXTTRREEMMEELLYY difficult to find a 5 Spd manual Camry. I talked to two different dealerships and they told me only 1-2% of Camrys sold are manuals. It sucks but oh well I drove 300 miles and got myself a manual Camry. I refuse to drive an automatic car. No way I will EVER own an automatic. All I have ever driven are manuals and I will drive manuals even when I am 95 years-old (trust me, I will reach 95 because I am using MuscleTech, the most powerful BBing supplements ever created).

Thick, what video are you referring to?? I have no idea what you are talking about.

dumbbellpress No excuses, no regrets.

Amsoil

It's been,and still is,sold through a multi- level marketing
scheme for over 30 years. If it were so good why wasn't it
patented? And why isn't it the industry standard?

My thoughts exactly. The Mobil name is ubiquitous - official oil of Nascar, Exxon-Mobil is the second largest corporation in the entire world behind Walmart. I have asked many mechanics through the years about Mobil Oil and they have, with one exception, all told me Mobil is about as good as it gets.

LOL But oh yeah, Amsoil, who maybe nationwide 1% of the population has even heard of, is much better oil than Mobil, the second largest corporation in the entire world. I do not for one second believe that those statistics on the Amsoil website could not just as easily have been manipulated to make Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline, Mobil.......etc. look like it was the best brand.

Figures don't lie, liars figure.

I am sure Amsoil is a great oil. Is it better than Mobil?? I would bet a large sum of my inheritance it is not.

The video thing I was making fun of dolfe. He has been trying for a couple of weeks to post a link for a video. He cant come close to figuring it out but remains remarkedly patient.

DBP, this is the same lame arguement that guys use in the gym when deciding who to go to for advice. "Well, the guy over there is really small, so he must not know anything. But that HUUUGEE guy must have a PhD is training!" Its the exact same comparison and its total crap. You can do better than that.

I forgot exactly what BMW puts in their engines. Its synthetic Castrol but not sure what the exact name is. My next scheduled oil change is 15,500 miles.

that is awhile off lol. 5w30 seemed to rate better even though there is a larger difference b/n that and 10w30 in terms of the polymer shit they talked about where the less gap is best. Did i read something wrong?
