Depression and/or Anxiety

A light dose of DXM is enough to pull me away from any matter I'd normally get angry at but with DXM it's trial and error it takes time to get the dose right for you. .
I use kratom dxm .. this kanna extract seems strong so not sure how I'll use this but the kratom alone works wonders ..
For energy nothing beats the Maeng Da and the Red Vein for sedation but not too sedative like xanax it still gives a good mood and energy from the good mood ..

It affects beta-adrenergic responses in your body, therefore stopping the physical "flight or fight" response that an adrenergic response would trigger. However, they have been linked to carpal tunnel syndrome (to which I can attest) and excessive bowel movements (to which I can also attest). They do not cause vaso-dilation in the sense you were asking.

Were you taking this for both anxiety and high BP? What medication did you try instead since propranolol caused negative sides? I have pretty high bp so I'm wondering what the best medication there is for bp and since beta blockers kills two birds with one stone I'd assume that would be the best, along with calcium channel blockers

Nicolaus, the wellbutrin doesn't have any real sides that I've noticed. The first few days you'll feel a little like you're over-caffeinated with some jitters and feeling hot/flushed for the first few hours after you take it. By day 3, that subsided for me.

I have a scrip for Lorazepam and only took it a few times when the anxiety was really bad. I've since just kept it on hand for an in case situation. The proponolol (beta blocker) seems to do the trick at 10-20mg on an as needed basis.

Aside from the medication, seeing a therapist would probably do you a lot of good. I've had a really rough past 6 months. The circumstances were such that I was struggling a lot to keep my head above water and was not able to do anything but sit back and take it. Life's a real bitch sometimes, but it's whatever you make of it. The therapist helped me get some clarity on my situation and helped me better cope with everything that's outside my control.
I hope you're doing better bro, in whatever predicament you are facing.

From what I've been reading, wellbutrin seems to be at the top of the list in terms of effectiveness and least side effects.

What are your thoughts on the carpal tunnel syndrome and possible nose problems/GERD from the beta blocker?

First off your not being a bitch!! Don't put yourself down because your only making things worse for yourself. Your life is worth living. Quick story that no one knows but my wife and doctors. When I was medically discharged from the USAF after 16 years I was lost. I was an elite Air Force Commando and was in tears everyday(some badass huh). I came home and for 6 months straight I sat in a chair in front of our front door with a loaded shotgun. I thought Al Qaeda fighters were going to break in to my home and try and hurt my family. I started to drink heavily for a few months before my wife dragged me to a doctor for help. I was suicidal at this point. I was put on Zoloft like @puckhog and xanax. The Zoloft made me numb to everything and my dick refused to work on it. At this point I stopped the Zoloft and began therapy. I also reached out to friends in the Defense Dept. who got me a great job. I am still on xanax as needed. I also wasn't discharged for mental illness. I cracked to discs in my back on a military free fall jump. In a nutshell mental illness can attack anyone no matter how manly they think they are. I hope you reach out to a doctor like you did to us. There is zero shame in doing so. I also have a incredible wife who stood by me along with my savior Jesus Christ(didn't mean to get religious on you). You realize your post has probably helped others and now I urge you to get help. Keep us updated and never give up. My thoughts are with you as you struggle with this. Good luck brother. PM me anytime you feel like you need to talk. Best wishes bud.

I absolutely love this post. Hope you're doing much better man and I will definitely PM you sometime :).

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my post and share their experiences and what's worked for them and what didn't, and all of the advice that's been provided. I really do appreciate all of you and this is what I have concluded from my reading here and other threads.

1) Medication should be last resort after all other options have been exhausted. However, if medication is the only option, the most commonly ones that I've seen mentioned with success are wellbutrin and xanax, but obviously used with caution as they can be addictive/cause dependence

2) Bp meds can work to lower anxiety which are known as beta blockers meds or calcium channel blockers (from google). This might be an option for me as I have high blood pressure which might be caused by anxiety. These should be used with caution as well as they can cause a host of negative sides.

Here are couple links I've found useful.

You guys seem pretty knowledgeable however but thought I'd share.

Anxiety Medications

Good Info for Nolvadex And Antidepressant Mixtures!!

^ Not sure the validity of that thread however. But I'd advise be cautious when taking nolvadex and antidepressants

Love you all. Maybe...just maybe we can all get together one day and smoke some weed or something but I know that may never happen since there's a lot of security issues at hand. Good luck to all and maybe this thread can keep going!!!

I've taken a few antidepressants and didn't care for them. A lot of them will crush your libido.

I currently take Wellbutrin and really like it. For anxiety, you can go with Xanax, klonopin, lorazapam, etc. Those are work great, but can be addictive. I have a very addictive personality and don't like to be fucked up on pills as a trade off for not having anxiety.
For that reason, I take beta blockers on an as needed basis for anxiety. They work really well for me at doses that have virtually no side effects.

Above all, what franchise said about finding your triggers is the best thing you can do. I know what mine are and I've done a lot to minimize and avoid them as best as possible.
This is a good start. I tried several other anti depressants and most made me feel like a fat zombie (the fat part is a nasty side) Wellbutrin is he only one that didn't make me round and still left enough libido in for me to enjoy. I slowly weaned myself off that after a while. I still take .25-.50 klonopin nightly to go to sleep ( if not I'm up all night thinking about bs). And it helps keep me calm the next day. It's a long battle brother but you will get it down packed after a while. Keep in mind this shit comes and goes... you'll have a couple good months and then BAM!... stay up brother. You're def NOT alone.

Try Kanna I'm not even joking it's actually an herb and an SSRI
It works and I always speak from hands on experience. ..

I ordered the extract 200-1 I can't wait for it to get here
just for an update this Kanna is really like xanax so I recommend it for people with anxiety and panic attacks but not so much for mood because it will more than likely put you out if you react to it like I do..
I take it before bed ..
I do a 60mg bump like it's ketamine
It actually looks like K

Kept meaning to reply to this and been crazy busy and forgot. I had really bad anxiety and depression issues when I was younger. Actually diagnosed with GAD, panic disorder with agoraphobia and depression. It's what led me to drug use actually. Not sure how much of that was due to drug use or the drug use was due to it. Been on about every psych med you can think of at one point or another. Been in jails, rehabs, mental hospitals and prison.

I've went into most of the street drug stuff in the recovery thread, but after about a solid decade of heavy use I ended up doing 21 months. This is where I finally got sober and found recovery in training. When I got out I was completely unprepared for dealing with life. Spent a decade numb from everything and then prison, which in a messed up way feels safe. Small spaces, you know what to expect every day, no choices or responsibility and worst case is having to defend yourself.

Anyway, the agoraphobia was crippling for the better part of a year when I got home. Being in public and large places was unbearable. Strangely the depression cleared up in prison and I haven't taken any psych meds in over six years now. The agoraphobia faded a little over time and then getting on gear years later helped tremendously with it. I still have a phobia/anxiety about my heart rate. Had it since I overdosed on speed one time when I was younger. I get really worked up over my pulse being too high and of course this makes it worse.

Anyway, good luck, @Nicolaus and everyone else here that struggles with mental health issues.

Calcium Channel blockers are ok, but I wouldn't say they have a pronounced effect on anxiety. In regards to your question, I was taking a beta-blocker for bp and anxiety (metopropol). However, the beta blocker did stop the physical symptoms of anxiety and lower my bp, but anxiety is not solely a physical problem, for most of the time it is psychological in nature (which the bblocker does nothing). As far as a bp med that accomplishes both, that would be clonidine. But, the clonidine comes with a whole list of possible side-effects, which include rebound hypertension among others (think of E rebound when abruptly stopping AI'a like letro). Nevertheless, Clonidine works wonders for BP and anxiety.

I'm not too concerned tbh. I don't take the beta blockers every day. It' more of an as needed thing. My situation has lessened, so my anxiety levels have gotten a lot better. Part of that is the wellbutrin, and part is just my life situation has improved a little bit.

This is a good start. I'm got a couple additional scrips that my doc wrote. Lorazepam for anxiety (only took a few times) and Terazapam to sleep. The terazapam works really well, but I prefer not to take it. Makes getting up tougher if I don't truly need it to go to sleep.

And you're right about his shit coming in waves. I've seen anxiety/depression come and go. Being sober has mostly solved it, this whole divorce situation just really fucked me up.

avoid script drugs like ssri's and benzos.
look into "cognitive therapy"
kava kava root drink can help a bit day to day and is safe and doesnt have a tollarance build up or addiction issues.
but thats a tool, not a solution. you need inner reflection and open mind.

for anxiety I found this to help at one point and have shared it with others: http://www.selftherapy.org/ (Stop Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety, and more)

What are you doing now to address your anxiety and BP? Assuming you are still experiencing these issues
