DNP Log - 34 Year Old Female

Osmanthus

New Member
In searching for completed DNP logs written by females, I came up with very few. Not that it was necessary, but it would've been nice for comparison. So, I'm starting my DNP journal now in case anyone else scours the boards for DNP results in women.

If you are a woman and you are reading this on or shortly after 04/29/09, it will not be completed for 5 weeks - so check back! Please understand that while I will be listing my weight every day, that is not an accurate reflection of the "magic" that the DNP is performing (due to water retention).

So, I started my cycle today and it will last for approximately 5 weeks.

CURRENT STATS

142 pounds
Chest - 34 in.
Waist - 29 in.
Hips - 34 in.
Quads - 19 in

Though I understand that any fat loss attributed to the use of DNP may not show up for a week after the end of the cycle, I will post my weight daily so that anyone reading this might get an idea of how one's scale weight can fluctuate.

I will post befores and afters at the end of the cycle.

DIET
Diet will be what some people call a "clean" diet. (Whatever.) I'll be eating lean protein, a fat and a carb at every meal. I toyed with the idea of a keto/low-carb diet, but after reading everything that was available to me, I've decided to to keep my normal balance. Unsure as to macro percentages at this point, although I will keep my protein at 1g per pound of bodyweight. (I was confused as to whether the protein should be 1g per pound of LBM or 1g per pound of TOTAL bodyweight. I gathered some opinions and it seemed that I should go the 1g per pound of TOTAL bodyweight. If anyone else has an opinion on that, I'd like to hear it.

Supplements
In addition to my normal multi-vitamins, Reservitrol (probably not necessary, but I was given two bottles of it.) and fish oil, I will be taking 2g of Taurine per day. Luteine and L-Carnitine are a possibility, because I have them in the house. Still unsure if I want to add more pills to the arsenal. I will not be taking an ECA stack. (I can't.)

DOSE
I will be taking 2 100 mg caps of powder per day for the first ten days. After that, I may bump it up to 300 per day if I feel the need. (It's a huge possibility that I'll stay at 200 for the duration, though.) The DNP came from a reputable source and I am confident that the caps are properly dosed. I haven't been on this board long enough to have gotten to "know" anyone, so please do not ask me for sources in this thread. Not trying to bogart the DNP. I'm just a little cautious.

PRECAUTIONS

I have digital thermometers by my bed, by the phone, in my desk at my office and in my purse. I'll be checking my temp regularly.

I will not drink alcohol while taking DNP.

I don't take "fun" drugs, so no worries about that, either.

I will not get antsy and think I'll do better at doses higher than 300.

I will stay hydrated (but not water-toxed).

I understand that there is some controversy regarding the "frying of my eggs" with the use of DNP. I'm not concerned about this because I am not having children. If you are a female of child-bearing age and potential and considering using DNP, please look into this issue further. I doubt seriously that it "fries" your eggs - however, the introduction of an unecessary drug/chemical compound while you're developing a midget in your womb might not be the brightest of ideas. (Just my opinion. . .nothing based in fact.)

A friend of mine (opthamologist) checked my eyes last week and will check them again mid-cycle and again at the end of the cycle. I'm probably being overly cautious, but I'd like all bases covered.

If anyone has any comments, ideas or thoughts on the above, please feel free to post them.

Thanks!
Os

I believe I read that every 100mg increases your metabolic rate 11%.
Right. According to Cutting and Tainter's original clinical research on DNP in humans, every 100mg/day of crystal DNP increases metabolic rate by an average of 11%. The rate for powder DNP, which Osmanthus is taking, is an increase of approximately 15% for every 100mg/day. At 200mg/day, the increase in metabolic would be double that.

According to the research, "If the basal metabolic rate rises less than 30 or 40 per cent there is little reaction except peripheral vasodilatation, and a slight increase in respiratory minute-volume. A greater elevation produces uncomfortable heat and sweating." (J Am Med Assoc 1937; 108: 21102118.)

Also, rash is one of the most common side effects of DNP, occuring in 10-20% of people. In several cases in the early clinical studies, people who developed a rash could discontinue DNP until the rash subsided and then resume use without any further problems. Also, if your rash is very mild, there's a good chance benedryl can knock it out.

Hope that helps,

:D

Well, the 100mg is definitely working. Although I took 200mgs last night, I awoke this morning to a loss of TWO POUNDS.

So, after one week of DNP - 200 mgs for three days 100 for three and 0 for one, I've dropped two pounds. However, I'm convinced that the pounds reflected might actually be a little higher than what I've lost. My upper body continues to appear thinner. Now. . .I'm hoping when this kicks in, my quad/hip fat is going to drop even further. I'll be taking measurements tonight for comparison to DAY 1.

Diet continues to go extremely well, although I ate under 1500 for two days. I didn't mean to, I just wasn't hungry. And I've had people telling me that 1500 cals "isn't enough." They're telling me that my metabolism will slow down. I don't see how that's possible while I'm on DNP. If anyone of experience or intelligence or science has an opinion on that, I'd appreciate it. Just "food" for thought.

Has anyone else noticed an absence of hunger on DNP?
Maybe it's the weather (it's warm where I live), but I have ZERO desire to eat. Occasionally, I'll get an intesnse carb craving - but that's not unusual for me. I usually drink a glass of water instead and afterwards, if I still feel like having something sweet, I'm grabbing fruit. (Although I'd readily mud wrestle someone for a bowl of Rice Krispies right now. Ha.)

Measurements tonight. After a stumble out of the gate, I feel like I'm on my way. Honestly, if the 200 causes me too many sides, I'll scale back to 100 gladly and just run it longer.

Oh, what is this I have, a box of Rice Krispies :D
I usually only get the carb cravings at the start but I run low carb and it subsides within 3 - 4 days after the help of some ECA. As far as hungry, I eat every 2 - 4 hours as I was trying to help the DNP do it's think so I was eating by the clock and not by my stomach, it didn't get the choice. Once I made an entry into my food log I would mark out the approximate time I needed to eat next so I would pay attention to the clock.

Oh! Gimmie! Ha ha ha. I'm doing o.k. with the carb cravings, mostly. It helps me get more water in, regardless (because, like I said, when I get one, I drink. . .then decide). I really wish that I could take the ECA stack, but I've been warned off of it (heart palps) and can't take it. I've heard that it seems to help in a DNP cycle with fat loss as well as energy. Bummer.

are we gonna be able to get a few pic?? Please:D

Not until the end of the cycle! :p Even if they look bad and I still look like a chunkwad, I'm still going to post the befores and afters so that people can have one example of how it may work for someone who had a bodyfat percentage higher than 25. (Oink. I know. Ha ha.)

I've lost my measuring tape. Wonderful. I'll get one tomorrow and post new measurements and the weight in the more "formal" format I intended! Ha ha ha.

TONIGHT'S DOSE
Will be my second night back at 200. Cross your fingers for me!

Alright. . .tonight will be the third night in a row of 200 mg. Keep those fingers CROSSED. I've got nothing even resembling a rash. I will tell you, though, I woke up in the middle of the night burning UP. I took my temp and it was only 98.7 (which is fine), but I was on FIRE.

My eating was SHIT today. I can't have eaten more than 1,000 calories. I failed to pack a lunch for work, went in early, drank coffee for about three hours before I went in search of something to eat. It's ridiculous. I need to be better on planning my meals and getting my protein in. To get Kate Moss skinny is NOT my goal. (Although, I don't see much danger of that yet. LOL.)

I hope my low calorie intake doesn't slow the DNP down. Way to sabatoge efforts, right? Sheesh. Off to find some tuna steak. Grrrr.

I'm telling you, keep a food log, this really helps me through my DNP cycles so I can see that I am either eating too much or not enough and I know when I need to eat again.

Gotta keep flipping that pillow to the "cool side" during the night, it's like someone turned the AC on, also keep an extra pillow or 2 handy, they really come in handy when you feel like your head is on fire.

Keep it up!

I have been keeping a diary of what I'm eating (fitday), but what I think I really need is a "check off list" to make sure I'm eating everything I should be. I was so blitzed yesterday that I really just didn't eat.

Yesterday, I had coffee, coffee, coffee, salad, protien shake, water, water, water, water, salmon (after my post.)

Today will be better - today I've had V8, pineapple, cottage cheese, water. Lunch is salmon and salad. Snack is more salmon. (I hate cooking, so I'll cook one big batch of something and eat it until it's gone. Ha ha ha.) Dinner . . .guess what? More salmon. LOL.[:o)]

Oh, also, I've had a few requests via PM for my source. In my first post, I asked that you please not ask me about that. I haven't gotten to "know" many of the folks on this board yet, so I'm not comfortable just tossing his name out there. I'm sorry.

I use an Excel spreadsheet so I can put the times I want to eat in, fitday is supposed to be very good though.
I think we all make big batches of food, I BBQ'ed 8 chicken breasts, 4 steaks and 2 pork chops and they are almost all gone already, LOL
Try getting some small tupper wares and making your meals for the next day, this way you can just grab the days worth of food and go if you are on the run. You can also get some low calorie protein bars if you have to just to get something in on the way to work if you are running late.

That protien bar suggestion might work. I was carrying around some protien powder with me, but mixing it on the run was a little tough. I'll get my protien in today for sure. Mmmmmmmm. Salmon. [}:)]

Source asking happens all to much here...I just ignore it. As for getting protein-it you have a good tasting powder-I use to mix it with a little water and sometimes some mashed banana into like a pudding. Kept my craving a little easier. But make sure you drink water after it b/c most powders are made to be drank with water. Also almonds and beef, turkey or ostich jerky can be kept on you all the time.

CURRENT STATS

Well, my starting stats were:
142 pounds
Chest - 34 in.
Waist - 29 in.
Hips - 34 in.
Quads - 19 in

My current stats are:
140 pounds
Chest - 34 (stayed the same)
Waist (above belly button) - 28 in.
Waist (AT belly button) 31 in.
Hips - at hipbone 34 in
Hips - at saddlebags 40 (YIKES)
Quads 18.5

I used the same measuring tape (cloth) and took each measurement three times. So, it appears that I'm down two pounds, minus a whole inch above the belly button, half an inch on the quads. . .which really surprised me. My lower body LOOKS the same, but my upper body appears thinner. Interesting.

Anyway, that's just after one week and two days. I'm going to keep at 200 for another three days and then bump it up to 300 just to see what kind of sides I get. If they're unbearable, I'll drop it back to 200. No probem. I'm seeing that this stuff works, regardless of how little you're taking. I'm in no hurry, sooo. . .

Although my birthday is coming up and I WOULD like to have on piece of cake. I wonder how much I'll sweat if I have a piece of cake? LOL. Better wear shorts and a tank top if I do. Ha ha ha.

UGH - ALSO. . .I am having difficulty (as you can see) with planning a diet.

I know WHAT to eat (I'm a "clean" eater with one PMS splurge meal a month.) but I'm so confused at this point as to how many calories I should be consuming.

I know that 107 pounds of my bodyweight is (roughly) my LBM.

I'm currently 140 pounds. I was just going to eat 1300 to 1500 cals per day w/ 1g of protien per pound of LBM.

Is 1500 enough? Or, if I'm on DNP, does it really frickin matter if I eat under 1500? I used to have a handle on this, but I've read too much and now I'm CONFUSED. Any thoughts are appreciated. [}:)]

on dnp, I would not worry about calories too much.

ive used it in the past but as time goes on my tolerance to the heat is not as good. I don't think I could ever stand to run it again.

LOL The heat is something to behold. I take mine 30 minutes after a Benadryl . . . right before I go to bed. So, I'm passed out for 7 to 8 hours. I've been fine, mostly, but today was a day with simple carbs. At first, I was fine. Then, I started BURNING UP and guzzling water. My mother was like "What is wrong with you?" I laughed. Said I was just hot. My temp is just fine, but good GOD did I feel like I was on fire. It was kind of awesome. . .(kidding)[}:)]

1 week , 5 days - holding steady at 140 (2 pound loss) as of right now. And it bears repeating: that just because the scale hasn't moved daily, doesn't mean that the DNP isn't working. It MUST be working, as I'm definitely feeling the sides (heat), slight raise in temperature (but below 99!)

My workouts are suffering just a little at this point - not too much, but I get winded much easier than I used to. Between the heat where I live and the DNP, running or even walking outside is not an option. And I'm ALWAYS hot. (Not whining, just noting for anyone who decides to read this.)

THe DNP has not interupted my sleep at all, though, since the first three days of taking it. I'm wondering if the pre-bedtime Benadryl has anything to do with that? :p

My wife got very little weight loss from a 2 week cycle of DNP at 200mg a day. She saw me loose abougt 8lbs in 14 days, and she lost right at 1.5 lbs. She said she would never use it again, because she got all the side effects and none of the benefits.lol

She only took 200mg for 2 weeks? I wouldn't have expected much more. I was told to expect about 2 pounds a week by the guy that got me started with this stuff. My cycle is five weeks.

I have used DNP many times. 2-4lbs a week is very, very realistic. Last year. I took 46lbs off in 14 weeks, doing 5 days of 7 off. Why would you even use it:D for such low loss? You can do that with diet and cardio. Just my 2 cents. Good luck though.
\
By the way, I only do 200mg a day to when I use it.
