What's also "funny" is that, although suicide rates are on the rise, statistics show that suicide among previous generations was higher than recent statistics.

So, just in case you thought his statement couldn't be more flawed... It is.

@ulfbehrt I sincerely hope you never have to witness the damage that a suicide causes friends and loved ones that are left behind. I hope you never have to know someone that's in so much pain that they choose to end their life to escape it. Worry about your own self improvement and less about how "today's generation" doesn't measure up to yours.

In my generation we take our hits and keep on keeping on, but the newer generations seem to fizzle out when they face hardships and that's just a fact.....a sad one at that.

Just the other week I seen a teenage girl have a complete meltdown in the middle of the apple store because they were all out of "bling" covers or something like that. The kids parent just coddled her like it was the end of the world so yes I believe the newer generations are weak. I should not have refereed to them as "Pussies" so I admit my wrongdoing and I apologize for that. I have ZERO problem admitting when I am at fault so thank you for pointing that out.

Your logic that the newer generation can't face hardships is due to the fact that you saw a teenage girl throwing a tantrum. With this, you've come to the conclusion that it's a fact that they fizzle out in the face of difficulty.

I specifically said that although they are up within the last few years, they were higher among previous generations - which you'll see in the chart you posted where there is a spike in the 80's and early 90's. I would guess this is the generation you're apart of... Maybe you're apart of the 50's segment though.

Bad choice of words for sure but I think the lesson was learned--this guy seems like a pretty good guy from what I have seen on here... I am 47.. My friends and I grew up in a rough environment and we are certainly not pussies. Lost about 12 of my friends so far and suicide and drug overdose is the #1 reason... I can tell you some of the overdoses were intentional. As I type this I am looking at a picture of my best friend who took his life at 20--knew the guy since I was 6 and we hit the gym constantly and lived at each other's house... He got a gal pregnant-- he was in love... wanted to marry her-- she got abortion and broke up with him--- This guy was not a pussy-- he was an ass kicker with a broken heart.. got drunk and went 140 miles per hour on his crotch rocket... ran into a wall. The guy was adopted... most people did not know... He did not believe in abortion and thanked god every day that his birth mom did not believe in it either. I often think I screwed up-- maybe I could have done something different--- many of these people are not pussies---they are just done! The pain becomes too much and they just want peace. Sorry for the rant-- very touchy subject for me.

Can't speak for psychological or emotional pain but people in chronic extreme physical pain should be able to choose medically assisted suicide IMO if they wish.
