So Ive been ordering stuff like a crazy man here lately so I can have everything completely broken in before I compete. The last thing Im still looking at is shoes (I train squats and DLs in socks now).
Ive been looking at these because of the price (they do have them cheaper on rogue)

but of course the romeleos are the best reviewed everywhere. Is it really worth it for the price difference?
Or are there any other lifting shoe suggestions?
Because you lift flat footed I wouldn't switch it up to a shoe with a heal only 2 months out from a meet. I think you'd be best suited in either chuck Taylor's or sabo deadlift shoes or metal powerlifting shoes. All are flat and will be able to maintain the same body positioning you are use to
Ill have to look at the other ones. I bought some chucks a few months back and wasnt feeling it. Thats when I started in socks (before that it was just tennis shoes)
Reebok CrossFit Lite TR is their version of a chuck taylor. It's a powerlifting specific shoe. The cheap guy who lives inside of me really wants one shoe I can use for both.

Outside of that, if you want an all rounder their is the reebok nano, Nike metcon, and inov-8.
You don't want a heal unless you are Olympic weightlifting.
Having a heal while performing a low bar squat puts you at a disadvantage because like in a deadlift it shifts your cg forward. I'm not saying it can't and shouldn't be done. It is a disadvantage mechanically when performing powerlifting squats and deads. The crossfit lite TR toe box is stupidly huge I find and really expensive compared to a chuck. Nanos, metcons are ideal for an all around gym shoe for sure too.
I wouldn't say heal is oly lifting only as I use romelaos 2.0 for squating low bar medium stance. It's more your ankle mobility and stance width that determines if you need the heal.

Olympic shoes are great for squatting even if a lifter doesn't do snatch and c&j. What I meant was Olympic squats (high bar vertical spine back squat and front squat) are more ideally suited for shoes with heals because at rock bottom a heal allows for a vertical spine due to a forward cg and assistance in ankle rom. Just thought it was faster to say only use oly shoes when oly lifting instead of explaining why.
