Gear review

So concensus is the Adidas powerlifts blow?I was looking at those to jay

All the reviews Ive read on them have been good. Its just the romeleos are reviewed better. But there is a huge price difference. Only reason I chose the romeleos is because at my age I can keep shoes forever. (except work boots and running shoes)
So I went with the more expensive shoe just knowing it will even out over time (meaning ill wear them for years and wont be getting any new ones anytime soon)

All I have are the adidas powerlifts and harbinger gloves. I like the gloves better than wrist wraps as I feel I get better overall support. I have a tweaked left wrist after breaking it twice.

I have used the Adidas Powerlift for a couple years now. I can not speak highly enough about them. Not only as a mid range shoe, but as an incredible show altogether. I have used them consistently for over 2 years, placing incredible amounts of punishment on them. My typical training sessions rarely go below 500 for my top and drop sets, as well as commonly placing loads >600 on them on a weekly basis. Having 4 to 5 rounds of squats or its variations every week, I believe I have given them quite a test. I also own a pair of Adidas Adipower. They are in a class of their own. I use them any time I have programmed front or high bar squats. After a year of regular use I still feel as though I am trying to break them in. The shoe is as solid as they come, and hold together like no other shoe I have ever had. Based on a lifters training and squat style, I would feel comfortable suggesting either of these shoes for training and competition.

Hmmm interdasting thanks for the info,I'm really leaning towards the Adidas.nike is a notoriously shitty fitting shoe for me and my wide feet.ive actually never had a pair of Nike.

Im the same way. Nikes are usually more for looks than function in my experience. If it wasnt for reviews of people I trust on here I wouldve never got them. But I am excited to get them (and the other stuff I ordered). I feel like the jerks in the underground waiting on their first order to come in.

Yea I wouldn't lift in em. I got these for cardio and light stuff. They have a pretty flat sole. OG Chucks for deads n squats

Wrestling shoes for deads. I know a few guys who use socks and slippers. Wrestling shoes are about as close to socks as you can get with still having a sole. If you have wide feet it's a bit of a problem as there are only 2 or 3 models for guys with wide feet and you also have to avoid split soles. Fortunately, the single non-split sole is on the cheaper end of the scale. Zero arch support, but a pretty flat thinner sole...like a deck shoe with ankle support and maybe even less sole. http://www.onlineshoes.com/mens-asics-dave-schultz-classic-red-gold-white-p_id319774?adtrack=gpa&term=Men%27s+ASICS%AE+Dave+Schultz+Classic%99&offer=&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&mkwid=&creative=&pcid=319774m&adpos=1o3&gclid=CjwKEAjwq6m3BRCP7IfMq6Oo9gESJACRc0bNsBggfiVekNklisRmIf2AgQhEc8MttWkUzJU_zyPKZBoCtlzw_wcB

I"m not saying it has to be that exact model, but that type of sole is what you are looking for...the basic flat one. I live in Oklahoma, so we can just run down to academy and try them on to see how they wear, which is a plus.

I don't know why I hadn't included this earlier thanks bud! One of my training pals uses wrestling shoes for squat and deadlift and loves them for sure he only issue is the lack of meditarsal strap so you sometimes can get foot roll in the wider stance squat because they are so thin but it is a very very solid dual purpose shoe. If sabos didn't have a strap on them that said deadlift I may have boughten wrestling shoes.

Unrelated to shoes but for anyone who uses headphones in the gym- check out the comply memory foam tips. They come with the Jaybird X2s but you can buy them for any headphones. I bought some for a cheap pair of Bluetooth headphones that I have and the improvement in sound quality is unreal. They also stay in your ear really well because they get such a great seal. A $20 pair of headphones with those tips will sound like $150 pair.

I don't have much gear as I don't consider myself advanced enough to need it yet. I have a ziploc with chalk for deads, some really cheap wrist wraps that came with straps also REALLY CHEAP like $12, Nike Metcons for daily but chucks for deads and sometimes squats, and of course headphones went with the Jaybird X2 really like them except the battery life lasts like 2 workouts when advertised a week. I don't think I've even used the wrist wraps yet and typically only use the straps for dumbbell farmer walks or last few sets of heavy shrugs. Wife did just order me a cheap dip belt off amazon that should be here tomorrow, guess she got tired of hearing me talk about one but not pulling the trigger. I have kept all my gear cheap so far just because I barely use it figure I will upgrade as I advance.

personally use the vibram five fingers for lifting, nike free flyknit for anything cardio. sperry's for when I'm done. yes i bring three pairs of shoes the gym. lol
