Gear review

I'm not gonna lie. I passed this thread by on tapatalk timeline MANY, MANY times thinking it was just another shilly thread about some "FIRE" gear. Glad I finally said F It and checked it out, good thread.

personally use the vibram five fingers for lifting, nike free flyknit for anything cardio. sperry's for when I'm done. yes i bring three pairs of shoes the gym. lol

Only three pairs? I bring my oly shoes, sabo deadlift shoes, Nike free run 5.0, rebook nano 4.0 or chucks. It's normal to bring a closet to the gym in my world.

Glad you dig it man I've got some more gear on order that I'm pumped to get so will have more reviews in the future.

There's a such thing as deadlift shoes? That's new to me, can you post a pic?

There are deadlift shoes and deadlift slippers these are sabos

Great shoe comfortable built well. I reccomend them to anybody who's trying to get serious about their powerlifting game and has extra money to spend on it. Not a scrape the bottom of the barrel and look in the cushions for change kind of thing though.

What's the usual price on those? And I have heard someone mention deadlift slippers before

Dip belt came in today. Felt surprisingly sturdy for $22 with free Amazon prime shipping. Can't review on it yet as it won't be used for a few days but I'm sure it will work for what I need it for.

Ok. I was reading some people saying get them smaller than usual. So like large = medium...

My buddy uses mediums with a size 13 foot but that's because he stole mine when I got my sabos. He'd use large if he bought them. I liked mediums and I have a size 9.5 foot

I realize most of this thread is about shoes. I just wear cross trainers, never really cared too much about them other than they were good for super wide feet.

My 2 pennies is about wraps. I have some interesting issues that I have had to fight the past decade. Injuries from my service means I will forever fight tendonitis in the arms just because of how I have to lift now. I have tried just about every brand of wrist wraps but finally gave in and went to APT (prowriststraps.com). Their convict and strangulator lines actually have finally immobilized (sp) my wrists.

Some of my power lifting friends used to swear by APT and they seemed a bit intimidating to a little body builder. After finally spending the bucks and trying them, I could not imagine using anything else. This includes sling shot, grizzly etc, etc... APT just has much, much stiffer wraps. Lifting straps are a permanent fixture in my life as well and, theirs are much bigger than I was used to but now I could not imagine going back.

Titan or Inzer might have better, I don't know. So far, APT has been the best.

I've been looking into those APT Strangulator knee wraps. Have you used them? I've been using Slingshot wraps and I get about 50lbs out of them. I'm looking for a little more for my next meet.

I use the convict knee wraps and elbow braces and strangulator wrist wraps.

I tried the sling shot, APT is much stiffer. I like the black and white better than the grey and white, tbh. Strangulator is stiffer though.

They just put out a new one that is supposed to be even stiffer than the stragulator.

APT has some of the best wraps available. There were dominating the market several years back for good reason. When they began having bad stocking and shipping issues they fell out of popularity. I have the convicts, strangulators, blue line hybrid, 2X The Wrap, and 3X The Wrap. Both wrist AND knee wraps in all....Yes...I was quite the gear hoarder. Lol. The convicts are stiffer than the strangulators and when wrapped properly give you a cast style wrap. I'm not even certain if "The Wrap" line is still available, but they are in a class of their own. I have never used anything that gives such a cast like wrap. They were in fact TOO much for me personally. When I competed with wraps, my all time favorites were the convicts. I can't speak for their current quality since it has been several years since I have purchased from them, but I would honestly say that they have the best wraps around. This has just been my personal experience.

Bumping this up, been thinking about buying some fat gripz to help my grip strength. I saw Rodger didn't care for them, how about the rest of you guys? Still using them? Worth the money? My grip is still pretty shaky after my carpal tunnel surgery. I've been just hanging from a thick pull up bar, holding deadlifts as long as I can and a few other things to try to bring it back.
