@RodgerThat can you recommend a mouth guard? Do you use one? I grit my teeth while benching heavy :( hit 3 plates today for 3x3 :D but I some how cracked a tooth. ... I have a boxing mouth guard will this be ok or should I get one of the powerlifting mouth pieces or just go super hardcore and bite a bull whip while benching?

Funny enough I absolutely can! I have porcelain teeth so I use a new age performance 6ds mouthpiece, same one Brian shaw uses during strongman events.

6DS Mouthpiece | New Age Performance Inc.

That's the link it's kinda pricey but I've had mine for about 9 months and it's still perfect condition. Read up though n how to properly mold it and follow the directions to a T

That looks like what I need. I got to go to the dentist tomorrow so they can fix this cracked one. Nerves exposed and I'm trying not to pull my hair out. Looks like I'll probably get this one or one like it. I mean if it's good enough for Brian Shaw . I'll probably use my boxing guard till i can get one of the 6ds mouth pieces. Maybe they'll numb the Fuck out of this thing in the morning and I can give myself realistic Rocky speeches.o_O

Anyone have any experience with these? Seen them mentioned a few times lately, seems like you could make this work with regular straps also maybe. Not sure if I'm interested or not. It seems it could be beneficial for some muscle groups that I have a hard time getting to engage.

Just ordered the sabbo deadlifting shoes because of this thread. Always bare foot or wreastling shoes. Can't wait to try them out. Also got a inzer lever belt. Dropped 200$ for 2 pieces of geae lol.

So it was a cheap day then nice man! Lol I seem to be unable to spend anything less the 400 when I place orders. You won't be disappointed with the sabos I promise you that. What size inzer you get 10mm or 13mm? Ever used a real lifting belt before not just one of those stupid old age bodybuilding
Style ones

Nice man a good belt is way way different then the bodybuilding belts you'll feel a lot more stable. I have a 10mm inzer aswell and I love it (single prong) picking up a 13mm lever action belt in a couple weeks here too.

Any idea what brand of squat rack (or cage?) this is? I want it...

View attachment 44777

They have one almost identical at my gym, only difference is it has a few more places to put the bar a couple notches higher. I'll check the brand when I'm there this evening and let you know.

Just so you know I'm 5'10" and can't quite hit proper squat depth in that rack. I'll bang the bar every time. Low bar anyway, high bar might be possible, but I haven't tried it. Be aware of that if you're around my height and you want to buy one. Might want to test it if you can.

I saw that rack online in some video, and it looks like it has everything I'd need for safe home use.

I'm 6' even so a tad different. Oddly, at the gym, I often wind up placing the bar a few inches offset to the right when I rack the bar, so the left side collar sits on the pin, some kind of systematic shift that I do. At least I'm very consistent. :-)

I forget the official name for it, I think it's an Olympic squat rack or a half rack. Both get hits on Google with similar devices. I'll check when I'm there later and bump this thread with a brand name though.

I totally forgot to check that brand earlier. Been kind of a long day. Will try to remember Saturday if you haven't figured it out by then.

No rush Perrin - I'm probably going to keep tracking Craigslist for the right opportunity to get a full cage with accessories - I've seen some people let go of really nice equipment for pennies on the dollar when they move. As much as I like new stuff, I'm also cheap when there's no drawback to buying used.

IMO as long as you get a rack with a 800+ weight capacity (most are but some Walmart shit is like 300lb) it doesn't matter what rack it is, with weights I would make sure to buy standard sized 45lb plates so that when deadlifting it's the proper height other then that the weights don't matter get whatever works. The only piece of equipment I would actually spend good money on is your bar. I personally have the Matt chan rogue bar it's got 21" separation from knurling to knurling in the centre so no long socks needed when deadlifting as you won't tear up your shins. The bar still does have 6" centre knurling but it's a mild grip just enough to grab onto a Tshirt during squats but not so much that it's cutting your throut during oly lifts or front squats. rogue has tons of bars and it be best to read the profile on all of them to see kinda what you need/want for your training. I do some Olympic movements that's why I went Matt chan bar otherwise I would have gone for the west side barbell or for the Ohio bar

Gear review. Got my compression cuffs. The sizing is a little off. Even though I measured bigger than the ones I ordered theyre a little loose. But im guessing a size smaller would be too tight.
They do their job like stated. Unfortunetely In my pursuit to keep my elbows from bothering me I ended up slighlty straining my pec and shoulder (this was before they showed up).

If you have elbow problems give mark bells compression cuffs a try.

/shill

Ya trust me I thought it was loose too so I ordered the size down and I couldn't keep them on between sets. It gets the job done without constricting blood flow so it's good in my books. Got ourself a new gear shill eh :p

The compression elbow cuff i got was a rehband cuff. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I ordered off of amazon and the rehband was the one that kept popping up so i gave it a shot. I did get the Mark Bell slingshot knee sleeves. I assume the elbow sleeves are comparable to the slingshot knees and i love those like crazy.
