Hair Loss

I heard Rogaine can lower sex drive or mess with T... Is that true? Do any of the products listed in the OP affect sex drive and/or testosterone?
My wife bought me rogaine because she cares more about my hair than I do and I used it for six months well when I remembered and when she wasn't rubbing the shit in for me at night and I never had a problem with libido.

Some of you bros dont care about hair loss, but it can be a big concern for most of us other bros. I'm 35 and I still have a thick and full head of hair. I am not one of those guys who would look good bald or balding. In some of my cycles years ago, I noticed large volumes of hair falling out in the shower during a cycle. This brought me to the point where I would look in the mirror and say, "What good is there in having huge muscles if my hair looks like crap?" So my search began to find the best possible hair solution, which involves stopping hair loss and even reversing it!

Let me just show you the final results (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE), and I will comment on each:

  1. AVODART® (Dutasteride) - Dutasteride was developed to help shrink the prostate and was found to have an even more profound effect on regrowing hair than Finasteride! Not only that, it can take care of more of your DHT, it starts working faster, and stays in your system for much longer. 1 to 5 mg ED is all you need, and it also keeps that prostate down during your cycles. In my book, this is a win/win situation.
  2. PROPECIA® (Finasteride) - Next to Viagra, this drug may have had one of the all time record advertising budgets. Finasteride is a hair loss prevention / regrowth drug. Recommended dose is 1 mg ED and after 6 to 12 months the user may achieve positive results. The reason I write "big 4" in the title of this thread is that it may not be necessary to use both Dutasteride and Finasteride, although there are no known drug interactions. I say roll with Dutasteride if you can and if not then use Finasteride.
  3. ROGAINE® (Minoxidil) - Cheap to buy generic at target in three month supply, Minoxidil blocks DHT on the scalp. After handling DHT within the body via Dutasteride or Finasteride, you can also stop the damage of DHT on the scalp. Use twice a day. I use it after my morning shower and after my workout shower.
  4. NIOXIN® (Cleanser, Conditioner, and Treatment) - Use these Nioxin products as your daily shampoo and conditioner. They work on the scalp to ensure that your skin is healthy. Shampoo removes impurities that clog follicles, including DHT. The conditioner keeps the scalp moisturized. The treatment adds botanicals and nutrients to the scalp skin.
  5. NIZORAL® (A-D Shampoo) - Ketoconazole, the main ingredient in Nizoral, acts as a relatively mild anti-androgen. (Androgen binds to hair follicles and over time shrinks them down, causing thinner and thinner hair.) Use this shampoo once a week for help with DHT.
This hair regiment is not difficult to maintain, and can provide great results. I went from losing my hair to growing it back! It takes a few months to start working, so for the first 6 months have patience. Passing the 1 to 2 year markers using the "Big 4" regiment should yield significant hair gains, or at the very least put an end to your loss.

This article assumes appropriate nutrition, hydration, and sleep.

Peace,

I have taken fansteride before. My doctor gave it to me for thinning hair. He failed to mention that I'll be limp dick forever. Your libido will go down so low anf if taken long time, it will be permanent.

Luckily I did research and I discontinued it and my sex drive went back to normal. It's not worth it guys.

Lee WJ, Sim HB, Jang YH, Lee SJ, Kim do W, Yim SH. Efficacy of a Complex of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid and Glycyl-Histidyl-Lysine Peptide on Hair Growth. Ann Dermatol 2016;28(4):438-43. Efficacy of a Complex of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid and Glycyl-Histidyl-Lysine Peptide on Hair Growth

BACKGROUND: Pattern hair loss is a very common problem. Although effective therapeutics for the treatment of pattern hair loss have been used, novel therapeutic modalities are still required to enhance hair growth.

OBJECTIVE: We investigated the efficacy and safety of a complex (ALAVAX) of 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and glycyl-histidyl-lysine (GHK) peptide for the treatment of pattern hair loss.

METHODS: Forty-five patients with male pattern hair loss were treated with ALAVAX 100 mg/ml (group A), ALAVAX 50 mg/ml (group B) or placebo (group C) once a day for 6 months. Total hair count, hair length, hair thickness, patient's assessment and adverse events were evaluated at month 1, 3, and 6.

RESULTS: An increase in hair count for 6 months was 52.6 (p<0.05) in group A, 71.5 (p<0.05) in group B, and 9.6 in group C. The ratio of changes in hair count between group B (2.38) and group C (1.21) at 6 months showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05). The proportion above good satisfaction was higher in group A (26.7%) than in the other groups (group B: 14.3%, group C: 7.1%). There was no statistically significant difference in hair length and hair thickness among 3 groups at 6 months. There was no adverse event in 3 groups.

CONCLUSION: Our study showed that a complex of 5-ALA and GHK peptide may be considered as one of the complementary agents for the treatment of male pattern hair loss.

I know I experience some hair loss on cycle but balding runs in my family so not a real big deal for me. What I have noticed more than losing hair is growing hair on my lower back, legs, and especially my chest. Have any of you experienced more hair growth on your body since you began cycling?

Is hair loss on cycle permanent? Or does some grow back from your experience? Never cycled before. Planning my first soon and baldness runs in my family so this definitely concerns me.

Does anyone have any experience using RU58841. MPB has been part of my research. It seems like about half the people that have tried say it works to some degree, and the other half say it just more internet snake oil. Any thoughts?

I can't say that they are permanent in my case. I have only run four cycles of aas at this point spread out over a couple years. I do notice hair lost while on cycle but not to the point of a bald spot or handfuls of hair shedding. My hair is already thin but it does grow back slowly after. I would think that with long term use, family genetics and not using some sort of hair regrowth formula or meds it could be permanent. Alot of the guys on this thread mentioned products that worked for them or didn't.

For the majority of cases, it is permanent. If you have the MPB gene then AAS will greatly accelerate hair loss. Also, just because others in your family are going bald, does not mean you inherited the MPB gene. My dad and his 5 brothers all have a full head of hair, yet me and my male cousins have hair loss.

Thanks fellas. I'm hoping I lucked out on the hair genetics as I am 31 with a full head of hair. My brother is completely bald and lost his hair starting at 23. My father lost all his on top gradually from 35-55. I'm using minoxidil(lipogain) and Nizoral Shampoo as preventative measures. Hoping I never have to go the finasteride route as I hear horrible things about it. My cycle is going to be Test only.. hoping keeping in simple limits any hair loss. Thanks guys!!

[OA] Bater KL, Ishii M, Joseph A, Su P, Nellis J, Ishii LE. Perception of Hair Transplant for Androgenetic Alopecia. JAMA Facial Plast Surg. Published online August 25, 2016. Hair Transplant for Androgenetic Alopecia

Importance Hair transplant is among the most common cosmetic services sought by men, with more than 11 000 procedures performed in 2014. Despite its growing popularity, the effect of hair transplant on societal perceptions of youth, attractiveness, or facets of workplace and social success is unknown.

Objectives To determine whether hair transplant improves observer ratings of age, attractiveness, successfulness, and approachability in men treated for androgenetic alopecia and to quantify the effect of hair transplant on each of these domains.

Design, Setting, and Participants A randomized controlled experiment was conducted from November 10 to December 6, 2015, using web-based surveys featuring photographs of men before and after hair transplant. One hundred twenty-two participants recruited through various social media platforms successfully completed the survey. Observers were shown 2 side-by-side images of each man and asked to compare the image on the left with the one on the right. Of 13 pairs of images displayed, 7 men had undergone a hair transplant procedure and 6 had served as controls. Observers evaluated each photograph using various metrics, including age, attractiveness, successfulness, and approachability. A multivariate analysis of variance was performed to understand the effect of hair transplant on observer perceptions. Planned posthypothesis testing was used to identify which variables changed significantly as a result of the transplant.

Main Outcomes and Measures Observer ratings of age (in number of years younger) and attractiveness, successfulness, and approachability (on a scale of 0 to 100; scores higher than 50 indicate a positive change).

Results Of the 122 participants in the survey, 58 were men (47.5%); mean (range) age was 27.1 (18-52) years. The initial multivariate analysis of variance revealed a statistically significant multivariate effect for transplant (Wilks λ = 0.9646; P < .001). Planned posthypothesis analyses were performed to examine individual differences across the 4 domains. Findings determined with t tests showed a significant positive effect of hair transplant on observers’ perceptions of age (mean [SD] number of years younger, 3.6 [2.9] years; P < .001), attractiveness (mean [SD] score, 58.5 [17.5]; P < .001), successfulness (mean [SD] score, 57.1 [17.1]; P = .008), and approachability (mean [SD] score, 59.2 [18.1]; P = .02).

Conclusions and Relevance Men were perceived as being younger and more attractive by casual observers after undergoing hair transplant. Participants also rated posttransplant faces as appearing more successful and approachable relative to their pretransplant counterparts. These aspects have been shown to play a substantial role in both workplace and social success, and these data demonstrate that hair transplant can improve ratings universally across all 4 domains.

What product would help prevent hair loss with out causing loss of your libido.

I am also looking for an alternative to finasteride and rogaine if it exists. I like my sex drive but also like my hair which thins out so bad on cycle and grows back on my body instead of my head

That's odd if rogaine actually affects your libido. Iv read about it but it seems like quite a rare side effect in very few people.
The finasteride will more likely impact your sex drive while on it but aslong as its just for the cycle so 3-4 months max and then get off for 6 I don't think the limp dick impotence and whatnot will stay with you. Dutasteride is definitely stronger but so are the sides.
Otherwise yeh the alternatives that don't cause sides are just shampoos and treatments like nioxin and nizoral but they don't help regrow hair but rather slow down the thinning

The pharmasict said that Aldactone/Spironolactone work for hair loss. Whats peoples take on that?

Both are used for essentially the same from what I'm reading and that's to treat fluid buildup. A benefit of this is it acts as an anti androgen but again it won't help regrow hair but rather slow the loss down.
Honestly just consider finasteride at a lower dose like 1-2mg ed and stop using it after pct, nothing otc will be better. Going bald pretty much kills the point of taking steroids for me, idk why you cycle but if it's the same for you it might be worth the risk

hey guys, from what i gather, Fin does nothing for hairliss from Tren right? does anything help with that?

my last cycle was a tren cycle of 50mg ed and i didnt have any hairloss whatsoever untill about a month after the cycle ended which i found wierd. no bald spots are excessive receeding or even extra hair in the drain. i just noticed a thinning. does this signify complete MPB?

im also interested in a tren cutting cycle and was curious if theres anything that can be done or should i just stick with a higher Test only cycle and use a Fin throughout the cycle?

Potentially, however you'll notice in the coming months if it gets back to normal it's not mpb, if it stays the same or gets worse it might be. Were you atleast using shampoo/Rogaine on cycle?
You're still using a test base while on tren though so fin will help with that but since tren is a nandrolone based drug fin won't slow thinning and hair loss, to a noticeable extent anyway. Tren is one of the harshest on the hair so the decision is up to you if it's worth it since hair aesthetics for me are major. You can do a small cut on test as well but keep in mind you may need a higher dose of ai when using fin

Im on tren as well so its a tough one. I use AAS for sports purposes. Aesthetics I could do naturally without issues. Hair always comes back after cycles tho so I just gotta tough it out. Perhaps I will take low dose fina since im also running 700mg sust. Guess it wouldnt hurt the sex drive too much

i actually did not run anything while on Tren. my hair held up great while on it so i assumed i was fine. i didnt notice anything untill after i stopped taking it.

i know in theory nizoral should help against tren hairloss but does it actually?

In theory yes it may help. Some guys use nizoral 1/2% and it helps them stop a receding hair line and in another dude it does nothing. You'll just have to see if it works for you.
Keep in mind but that even with the 1% the max you'd be able to use it would be 3x a week imo since it's incredibly drying on your scalp. 1/2x a week would be better
