So you think these Confederate motherfuckers were just fighting for what they believed in.
If you believe in holding people captive, working them for generations, beating them and selling off their children then you gotta a screw loose.
The entire history of the confederates needs to be wiped off the face of the earth, this kind of nonsense was erected a hundred years ago to enforce the the white mans view that he was entitled to do as he pleases.
Owning slaves wasn't just a miscalculation, or a product of its time. There were plenty of people back then that knew it was evil, man knew it was evil for hundreds of years. Quakers, Presbyterians, 'Methodists, knew this stuff was evil and railed against it. Even the founders knew it was evil, but they did it anyway, so I say fuck these assholes.
I'm going to address your latest string of posts but won't tag them all.
First, you have been sold a pack of lies that subvert your reason by hijacking your empathy. I'll demonstrate it here and I really hope you take the time to consider what I say and look into the examples I provide.
Crimes are not equivalent. One type of crime does not necessitate any shared territory with another type of crime. So you are making a false equivalency when saying that we as criminals here should therefore respect those who commit crime and further admire those who are good at it. A person here is exercising freedom of choice of what they want to do with their body. It infringes on no one elses right to do the same or otherwise. The fact that retin a, a lotion is illegal to posses without a prescription is arbitrary and has no moral ground to stand. It costs 70 dollars in the us and 7 in india and thats why you need a script not for any considerations of morality or justice or even protection/safety for that matter; considering that if safety were the true concern then cigarettes would obviously be illegal. You on the other hand are advocating for the subversion of peoples will through deceit and manipulation. Did you know that it's illegal to own slaves in the US? By your logic we should admire those who are able to practice slavery well and commit the crime of doing so long as they do it well and get away with it. Which you obviously oppose as demonstrated in following posts. I hope you can grasp the stupidity of your inconsistent thinking here.
"cheering on the shooting of our citizens" Never happened. I'm sure you are referring to Jacob Blake. How did the media report it? "unarmed black man shot in the back 8 times by white cop after an altercation started where he was just trying to break up a fight" The only thing true or honest about this is that one dude was white and one black and he got shot. There wasn't a fight. The truth was the cops responded to a call from the rape victim of Jacob Blake saying that he was harassing her. He had a warrant out for his arrest for sexually assaulting the women who called the cops on him a month prior. He defied all lawful orders was tased etc and then he reached into his car where there was a knife visible and got shot in front of his kids. What the fuck did he think would happen? What do you suppose should have happened otherwise? In your mind does that justify looting/ destroying/ assaulting people?
It was biden who said people who don the confederate flag were fine people. Look up the video on youtube. You are probably referring to the Charlottesville speech trump gave. Turns out if you watch the speech that is not what he said. They took his words out of context and imminently preceding the statement that the media has pushed as evidence of his racist ideas he condemned in no unclear terms any form of racism and bigotry. Watch the interview yourself, it's online and is about 5 min. Then contrast what he actually says vs what the media says he said.
Slavery was not just a product of the time, it was literally the norm through pretty much all of history. The USA in stopping slavery broke with many many thousands of years of human tradition. All races creeds and colors practiced it. Even the natives that Columbus made first contact with. Which he then enslaved himself. But you get the idea. Slavery is not a US specific thing. The word Slave comes from the word Slav, like slavic people. Additionally who we regard as the super wealthy and elite of today are who would have been the slave owners in antiquity. The vast majority people in the US did not practice slavery.
Obviously slavery is an abomination. Most of history is one abomination to the next. However, history is there to teach us about our mistakes. If we don't keep it around to learn about it we will fall prey to the same axioms that got us there in the first place. No sane person would advocate for slavery in the modern world but tons of people will take this proposition and make out to be just that so they feel superior in their righteous indignation such that they feel justified in aggression against the people who suggest it. be it property or person.
The police do not make the laws that they enforce. Obviously I don't think many laws should exist. Specifically the ones that encroach on civil liberties that pose no threat to others. Obviously shitty cops exist because shitty people exist. The police force is essential but what is policed has gone far past what is essential. Police reform is needed but cops don't make those reforms, politicians do. Just like the military is essential but war isn't. Well, under MMT war may actually be essential for the survival of the currency but that's another discussion.
One oddity is that you want a more centralized government with more authority.. Who do you think is going to enforce that authority and in a more centralized government do you think the laws of the land are going to be less authoritarian or something?
