If you're a drug addict and tell a doctor you don't feel well, they give you blood work.
If you're an alcoholic and tell the doctor you don't feel well, they give you blood work.
If you're obese and tell the doctor you don't feel well, they give you blood work.
If you have a headache and feel unwell, they give you blood work.
If you use steroids and want to practice harm reduction, they turn their nose up at you and judge you.
Ever seen how many people truthfully are in and out of a methadone clinic? How about a liquor store? Pot shop? Oh yeah, that's right.... The government has their hands inside of those markets.
Last time I walked into a walk-in I told them my prior bloodwork was worrisome and cholesterol was horrible and I would like to make sure my liver values and kidneys are functioning. I told them I used anabolic steroids and I wanted to make sure I wasn't harming myself. I was told "you can't just go to the walk in clinic and request bloodwork whenever you please, stop using drugs". I told them that they were liable if I walked out of the walk in clinic and had a stroke or kidney failure and in Canada it is their job to give bloodwork to patients regardless of their shitty opinions. I freaked out and started a scene, so.. they gave me the bloodwork requisition, BUT. I haven't gotten bloodwork since then because I was embarrassed.
That was 2 years ago, how's my cholesterol? Not sure, I should quit steroids they said.
How's my liver and kidneys? Fuck if I know. They told me to stop using steroids.
I will be getting bloodwork very soon, but that experience seriously made me uncomfortable.
Canada needs to normalize the harm reduction on all drugs not just ones with markets they have their crumby fingers in.
