The blood vessels essentially didn't cotterize the first time with the Silver Nitrate so I think when I sat up straight and ate lunch...all the pressure of my body came down on the incision and it just burst the blood vessels seeing that it was a fresh wound. I tried again on Thursday to sit up straight eating lunch and had no problems.

What I said was that the infection had just about crept to my hip joint.

All I can say is...I'm one lucky guy right now. Well here's the nasty of it....BTW I had my significant other log on to check on the Jagers situation like I didn't have enough to worry about so that's why it says I was logged on about 23 hours ago.

Checked into ER at 7:30ish..waited about an hour...saw the nurse and that's when hell broke loose. She took one look at it and said that I am going to be admitted IMMEDIATELY that it wasn't normal. ER doc took me in and looked at it and fuckin couldn't beleive his eyes. In almost 17yrs. he said that could have been the worst abscess he's ever seen. Straight on IV Anit-biotics..given to me by another guy who was a paramedic for 15 years and said that was in his top 3 worst abscesses he's ever seen. The surgical team had to rushed down there and they were like "Oh my god"....not only the team but the head of surgery at one of Boston's premier hospitals came down to look...he just looked with amazement and said I was in trouble. BTW I used Pumped 101's excuse as a B12 injection and it worked fine the entire time.
Now I had to wait for 2-3 hours to get the entire team ready, nurses, drug administers, surgeons, etc. This was a HUGE deal at the hospital. They decided to do "conscious sediation" right there in the ER instead of up in surgery because it needed to be done ASAP. Right off I was given Verstad (high powered quick acting valium) through IV then followed by Fentadyl (very very potent form of morphine) through the IV. I had to call my significant other and tell her to get the fuck down there because I was in trouble. Well..that knocked me the fuck out...from what they told me I was snoring a little during the procedure but I was awake. That's the fucked up part I really can't remember much.. I was just out like a light. The girl doctor who performed the procedure (who was so hot) said she drained about 250+cc's of pus not including the 15cc's I was able to take out myself.
I'm not out of this operation till the wee hours of the morning...they put me in a room bandaged up and was obviously staying the night. WELL they leave me for a little while and I noticed that I had started to hemmorage all over the sheets, through my johhny, all over the place...like a horror movie. I wailed on the nurses button and she came in and was like OMG!! They rushed the entire team back there within minutes....I really thought I was bleeding to death. They had to stich me up with no lidocaine, etc....I was yelling, grabbing onto the side of the bed as hard as I could..she was saying she was sorry and all I could say is it's not your fault. Finally someone rushed some lidocaine up there but there was only like 2-3 stiches left and I just yelled out to her to do it and I stuck it out. Man..that part hurt the most. Immediately was given 4mg's of IV Morphine and the pain started to subside but still hurt..Tuesday was a resting day...more Morphine, changing of the packings, blood tests (I must have 6-7 holes in my arm like track marks from all the blood tests). I don't really remember Tuesday that much other than they wouldn't let me eat....I was sooo hungry, sick, etc. Finally at 7:00 the doctor said I could eat so I ate like a pig.
Wednesday moved to a new room and thought they were going to discharge me later on Wednesday.
So Wednesday was a Sitzs Bath day where I had to get in shower and essentially clean the wound. WELL..that didn't go good..I took off the gauze, then had the nurse took the packing out and the fucking blood came spewing out. I said I was going to be fine and jumped in the shower..well after 5 minutes I had to pull the nurse emergency cord. I was feeling so lightheaded, sick, just the sight of the wound made me ill. So she came in and put a gauze on it till the surgical team got there, put my johnny on and helped me back to the bed. The team arrived within minutes, gave me some more Morphine and had to use Silver Nitrate which is a chemical on the end of stick. When distilled water is added to the end of the stick the Silver Nitrate cotterizes the ruptured blood vessels so they did that and packed it again. This was at 10 AM. Well while eating lunch Wed. around 1sh my fuckin thing exploded on me and blood was pouring out...all over the sheets, the bed, etc. Had to get the surgical team back up there and this time they had to use Silver Nitrate again, morphine, etc. So I was repacked, etc. This time it held thank god.
Good food though...Pot Roast, Chicken Stir-fry, etc. lol..I guess I can have a little laugh. The head surgeon came in Wednesday late afternoon and explained how lucky I was...he said the infection had almost spread to my hip joint and there was a very good possibility if I waited longer that I might have lost part of my leg. This is own words and I'm not making this up. THAT freaked me out. They had switched me to Perocets instead of Morphine cuz I was just getting sweaty, etc. from it.
So today everything was cool...blood tests revealed no lingering infections in the blood, I was able to shower myself...the wound still looks like someone stuck a fucking knife soooo deep into my ass. There was minimal blood loss in the shower, etc. which was such a sigh of relief to me. Not to offend any women that might read this but it looks like a big pussy.
I asked my surgeon about the cut, etc. and she said it is about a 3 1/2-4 inch cut length wise down my ass. I asked her about the depth and she couldn't tell me...all she said was that she took her finger and just keep poking inside and when her finger stopped that's where the healthy tissue was...fucking grossed me out. She was so hot though, lol.
Now...I'm on Percs for pain, I don't need any antibiotics because my system was flushed out, blood tests came back negative for any infections, etc. I have to have a visiting nurse come to my condo 2x a day until Sunday, then 1x everyday next week to pack my wound and gauze it.
The doctors said I was very lucky guy. My doctor also said it is a remarkable recovery in a day from what it looked like on Wednesday and that I would be fine. I was kind of teary eyed, gave her a hug and thanked her and everyone else that was there for taking care of me. I will heal eventually she said but it will take time. There will be scarring but I'm just glad I'm alive to tell this story.
I want to thank everyone from McKenzie, to Thick, to Maxx, to Pumped101, etc. I probably would have been a stubborn SOB if I didn't read your posts and took them to heart. I'm glad I did and smartened up quick enough.
Everyone...PLEASE take good care of yourself when you inject, etc. I can't stress enough how sterile everything must be. Don't cut corners, etc. Take this episode as an example....because I never thought it could happen to me...but it did. Once again thanks to all of you. Kerrie and Irene (my 2 doctors) God bless both of you...all my nurses Pam, etc. all I can say is I know you know nothing about this board but a BIG THANK YOU...you really are special people.

Manfreakca...I am a clean person. I've been at this for 10yrs. and nothing like this ever happened. That includes countless, countless injections..I can't fathom how many over the years. Like I posted earlier I really don't know why it fucked up, I don't know. I thought I had gone through the correct procedures as usual...if I knew why then I wouldn't be embarassed to say that I fucked up. I was just stressing at the end of my first post that to keep everything sterile, clean, etc. cuz you just don't know and not to take chances.
