Long Off-Season to Classic D Class Weight Cap

How are those Gasp shoes? After my old Crossfit TR Lites fell apart, I've been looking for a replacement.
Good grip, reliable, and you can choose comfort level with different insoles. I’ve been using them for the last 2 years day in day out, without the soles so it’s as flat and close to the floor as possible, like high top deadlift shoes. Not at all comfortable that way though, but I got used to it. Very good for back/hamstrings/quads and keeping tension through the feet for heavier bench press. Without any soles it’s ass for daily steps and incline treadmill.
Oh they also run large, so buy a size down if you get them

any benefit to shoes like this? i usually just run leg sessions without shoes on

Awesome, thank you. Are they narrow? I've got super flat feet so narrow shoes kill me.

The grip is very good when you’re doing a squat variation where there is a tilted pad for the feet, or for standing calf movements where you want the feet to stay in place. On the heaviest sets of hack or pendulum shoes with poor grip or socks make my feet slip slowly each rep and I would have to readjust. Same can be said for hip thrusts, or deadlifts. So to minimize risk of slipping/sweat causing some movement when i have to “push” through the feet in some direction, these kind of shoes help me feel secure/stable.

this is the only time in my life im happy im flat feeted. natural blessing for big quads

plan update: cutting 5 more weeks hahaha. Since I will travel to America to visit family for a bit on vacation, my coach has advised it will be best to wait to rebound when I come back.
This is going to be much easier than the off season to be honest. Last time I was back home I was struggling hard to eat the food because my digestive system wasn’t used to the rice, different grains etc.

I will probably get some more training sessions in while I am there with the same trainer I did last time. Some of the advice I was given for my rear delts really was invaluable and made a huge difference over my off season. Also certain things about pinning gear/things to avoid is just making my life generally easier so I would like to see if there is any more I can learn.

when I get home at the end of august we will start my off season.

My back condition is improving, my gyno surgery healing is getting better slowly too. I think at the end of the cut I will be at a new previously unseen level of conditioning, so I’m excited to go there.

3.5 years of gains, An old photo popped up so here is a comparison. the left was natural before lifting. Later that year i was able to deadlift 255kg, 560lb, conventional. This year I can RSL more than that for reps lol. Time flies when you’re having fun I guess

4 more weeks to cut
Going to America next week, will finish cut there and rebound when I get back to china.

My ab and thigh needs a lot of work ..
Just showing how healing of gyno surgery is going. Pecs are getting better.

In regards to an& thigh I need to start working on vacuum and ab control. I will ask coach for a protocol to begin this in a regimented way where I am held accountable.

My pressing is back to normal now. Inclines 140kg/315 x6 this week with pause and nice tempo. Im really hoping I can keep it here and then press over 400lbs for reps next off season.

When I go to rebound I will definitely be able to train normally and get much stronger.

102kg this morning.

Ok so plans changed. This or next week will still be last week of cut, want to get a little drier before we reverse diet. Since I’ll be in the US for a decent amount of time, there’s no need to keep cutting weight that long.

We added 40mcg clen, so now at 80mcg. Have been at 0-40 this entire time. 40 for previous two weeks.
No need to add any thyroid meds.

Back improved and got triceps in over night, and lines coming in from back on glutes.
Will do one small refeed (+160g carbs) on leg day.

My coach gave me a new protocol off keeping waist in check that I started today and will run through the off season.
I figure it is better to start this now as I estimate i will push up to perhaps 120kg within the next 7 or so months.

Scheduled some training sessions with psycho Lewis when I get back to CA, will be doing one or two per week.

Also trying to clean up some transitions

I am currently 93kg/205lbs, and need to add another 12.2kg to get to the Classic weight cap which is 105.2kg/232lbs for a 6 foot 2 inches/ 188cm person.

Since December I have added over 6kg stage weight, going from 87 to 93 but ending up leaner than I was previously and with less water, so probably more muscle. That being said I am 4 weeks out with this condition so I probably need to gain something like 14kg muscle mass. I have worked with one coach since that time and will continue through this period with the same coach which will take well over a year.

Today my second rebound and off season push starts.

My cycle is 250 test per week, 250 eq per week and 5iu gh.
My coach will give me a new split tomorrow for the off season, since right now it had adjustments made to be appropriate for cutting. All training is done to or past failure with intensifiers. High volume, high intensity.

I lost a decent amount of strength during this cut because I was at 108.8kg/240lbs, so I lost 35lbs.

For example (with 8 rep range)
I lost 10kg off my RDLs went from 180kg to 170kg.
-15kg from my incline bench 140kg to 125kg
-20kg flat press 160kg to 140kg
-15kg overhead pressing (150kg to 130kg machine)
-40kg leg press (300kg to 260kg)
-20kg tBar Rows- (4 plates to 3 plates)
-40 hip thrust (260kg down to 220kg)

Some of these were also influenced by the fact that I herniated a disc. I still can train every body part correctly but I wasn’t able to hinge and leg press, RDL, or hip thrust for several weeks while my spine healed. So for some time I replaced them with similar movements.

Here are current photos before my rebound and where I start this process before I make my way to the stage

Some different lighting (will take back updates today)

If you are in very good shape, you can even win your class. It’s not all about weight.
12 kg lean mass in a year ?

i think you are correct. Some people can win well under the weight cap. I have friends trying for their pro card quite a few kg below their cap, but this is one place in which skeletal structure, height and muscle bellies/insertions make a big difference.

The problem for me personally is that my structure is not good with less muscle mass. I look very stringy especially in the limbs, so I need more weight to look more proportionate due to my skeletal structure.

I also did not say 12kg lean mass in a year, just that I need 12kg. I didn’t set a strict time line.

this is i can relate because i have the opposite issue. you're probably tall while im around 180cm. you take all the girls i take all the muscle mass

My buddy won his class on 96kg stageweight
Open BB heavy up to 102kg

Very reasonable, especially with shorter guys. Height and bone length makes a huge difference . Some of my friends will try for a pro card In September and are not close to weight cap. But they aren’t D class for height.

For this to be possible for me I would need to get into super heavyweight (Im already 99-102 this week deep into a cut but barely look classic) and then get way beyond the minimum to look open. Genetics are a bitch for tall guys hahaha

Oh for sure hahaha even just powerlifting having a little muscle mass was enough to make things like tinder on easy mode. When I first tried tren at 300 per week on some nights I would use that app to go on several dates in a row. For better or worse having a wife that doesn’t like that makes it hard to get a lot of women, so Im left with super slow gains.

Did a referee, +160g carbs yesterday.
540g carb total
Today felt much fuller, and hit 4plates per side on overhead for 7. I think I will try for 5 plates next off season.

Probably most improved poses. I was happy about progress on side tricep today.

101.5kg
Obviously not stage ready, but I think for sure I will get to that weight cap 2026 and will be ready at least to not embarrass myself on stage

Next September i will start to work with a training partner. There is a guy who wants to compete against me next year, but also hopes I can get a pro card next year too, so it will potentially be nice to have a productive bit of competition to push & support each other. This will be the first time having a consistent training partner, so Im looking forward to it.

Frankly I like to be alone generally and focus on the workout, but when we have trained together the intensity does get turned up and we help each other push past failure/limits so I think it will be a win win for both of us. It’s also nice to have somebody who wants to see you succeed at reaching your goals, and believes in it, so I think if I don’t let my autism run rampant, the camaraderie will be helpful for motivation.
