Marijuana [Cannabis]

The Fun I Had Buying Marijuana as a Tourist in the Legal Pot Paradise of Colorado
Colorado, where you can buy legal cannabis in America for the first time in 77 years.

Judging from three days on the ground in Denver interviewing experts and reviewing the latest tourism data, Colorado could make anywhere from $100 million to $500 million in extra tourism in the first year alone of newly legal weed.

Will you be one?

from personal experience its much easier on the body than alcohol. when you are using aas you need to consider the affect on your liver that alcohol has and oral aas. your better off without it but if you need to unwind its less dangerous.
smoke, or smog or anything esle is not going to help you become a better athlete, but a couple j's a week isnt going to do much. and for someone using aas its a wiser alternative imo. the true downside is you can be locked up for lighting up in this country, but we are use to taking chances.
legalize it.
that being said im on my way to jail:(

Phillip Morris Introduces Marlboro Marijuana Cigarettes | Abril Uno

Phillip Morris, the world’s biggest cigarette producer, announced today that they will join the marijuana legalization bandwagon and start producing marijuana cigarettes. Marketed under the brand “Marlboro M”, the cigarettes will be made available for sale through marijuana-licensed outlets in the state of Colorado, and the state of Washington when it becomes commercially legal there later this year.

Oh shit Big_Paul, sorry to hear that. All the states seem to have a little different time frames, and it also depends whether you plead out or not. But a 5 year max. you could be back on the street in a matter of months. Course I don't know your circumstances. But, again, really sorry to hear this.

i cant say where i live for obvious reasons, but people are scared that the place will be over run by cartels. so much mis information out there. im not saying its without risk same as aas's its a trade off. a less dangerous alternative. the two groups i know who are against legalization are growers both american and cartel and cops. they both have an interest. growers its money and cops its jobs. we could probably lose a couple hundered thousand cops if they werent out busting peace loving stoners. i think the world would be a better place with less cops. i know 3 friends who were busted the last couple years and the cops in every case stole their gear, busted for weed in every case but the aas don't end up in the inventory. i got no respect for the worthless bastards.

Every drug bust is a stepping stone for the prosecutor on his/her way up. Their mostly bloody maggots. Obviously your friends were mistaken, there was no aas :)

Drug Dealers Unfazed By Legal Pot In Colorado
Drug Dealers Unfazed By Legal Pot In Colorado

The Marijuana Policy Project’s Mason Tvert said he was confident the ever-expanding competition between the legal businesses will push out the small sellers.

Sitting in his corner office in a historical mansion on Grant Street that houses a law firm and doubles as the headquarters for both MPP and the National Cannabis Industry Association, Tvert said eventually the convenience will override the appeal of buying “slightly cheaper marijuana.”

For an adult on his way home, Tvert asked, which option would he be more likely to choose: Calling everyone he knows to try to find some marijuana, or stopping by the nearest store and paying a bit more?

“There’s a reason there’s not an underground alcohol market with beer and moonshine being trafficked around the state,” he said.

Study: Why Pot Smokers Are Skinnier
Marijuana users had smaller waists and scored higher across several measures of blood sugar regulation.
Study: Why Pot Smokers Are Skinnier - Lindsay Abrams - The Atlantic

PROBLEM: "Marijuana use is associated with an acute increase in caloric intake," goes the clinical jargon for popular lore. Still despite eating more while high (by some measures, over 600 extra calories per day), marijuana users' extra intake doesn't seem to be reflected in increased BMI. Indeed, studies have identified a reduced prevalence of obesity in the pot smoking community.

METHODOLOGY: Researchers at the University of Nebraska, the Harvard School of Public Health, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center analyzed data from a nationally representative sample of over 4,600 adults. About 12 percent of the participants self-identified as current marijuana users, and another 42 percent reported having used the drug in the past. The participants were tested for various measures of blood sugar control: their fasting insulin and glucose levels; insulin resistance; cholesterol levels; and waist circumference.

RESULTS: Current marijuana users had significantly smaller waist circumference than participants who had never used marijuana, even after adjusting for factors like age, sex, tobacco and alcohol use, and physical activity levels. They also had higher levels of HDL ("good cholesterol"). The most significant differences between those who smoked marijuana and those who never or no longer did was that current smokers' insulin levels were reduced by 16 percent and their insulin resistance (a condition in which the body has trouble absorbing glucose from the bloodstream) was reduced by 17 percent.

People who had previously used marijuana, but not in the past thirty days, tended to have similar outcomes, but to a much lesser degree. In addition, none of these measures were impacted by how much marijuana people reported smoking.

IMPLICATIONS: Although they're not sure exactly how it happens, write the authors, these findings suggest that marijuana somehow works to improve insulin control, regulating body weight and perhaps explaining why marijuana users have a lower incidence of diabetes. Adding to the big questions -- "can weed can treat obesity?" and "marijuana makes you skinny?!" -- is the possibility that marijuana might be useful in helping people to manage their blood sugar. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/wp/2014/01/29/medical-marijuana-will-be-on-florida-ballot/ (Medical marijuana will be on Florida ballot)

The Florida Supreme Court has narrowly approved language for a proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize marijuana for medical use, guaranteeing the measure a spot on the state’s November ballot.

Advocates have already collected well over the 683,000 signatures necessary to qualify the measure for the fall ballot. County officials have already validated a sufficient number of signatures. The court challenge was all that stood in their way.

In an 84-page opinion, the court ruled by a 4-3 margin that the proposal’s ballot summary was sufficiently clear. Republicans, led by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (R), had challenged the language as misleading.

Justices debated whether the language made clear that medical marijuana could only be used to treat “debilitating” diseases, like cancer, AIDS and Parkinson’s. The three justices who dissented said the ballot summary was “seriously deceptive” and would do voters “a severe disservice.”

“Today’s ruling leaves the issue of medical marijuana in the hands of Florida’s voters. I encourage every Floridian to read the full amendment in order to understand the impact it could have on Floridians,” Bondi said in a statement after the court’s ruling.

The proposed amendment will share the ballot with a heated race between Gov. Rick Scott (R) and his predecessor, former Gov. Charlie Crist, who last won office as a Republican but is now a Democrat.

Crist, once dubbed “Chain Gang Charlie” for his tough-on-crime stands, says he supports legalizing marijuana for medical uses; Scott opposes the bill. Crist is heavily favored over former state Sen. Nan Rich in the Democratic primary.

Some Republicans worry the proposed amendment will drive turnout among younger voters, who disproportionately vote Democratic. Several Republicans recently voiced fears that the amendment was little more than a Trojan horse for the Crist campaign.

Opposition to the medical marijuana push is likely to come from Save Our Society from Drugs, a group run in part by Betty Sembler. Sembler’s husband, Mel, is a former ambassador and major Republican donor. The group’s executive director told the Tampa Tribune that the loopholes in the proposed amendment would create “de-facto marijuana legalization.”

In an interview earlier this month, Ben Pollara, who is running the pro-amendment campaign, said his group would aim to raise and spend at least $10 million.

If the amendment passes, Florida would join 18 other states and the District of Columbia in allowing medical patients to use marijuana. Two states, Washington and Colorado, allow legal purchases for non-medical use.

A Quinnipiac University poll conducted in November showed a huge majority of Florida voters, 82 percent, backed allowing adults to use marijuana for medical purposes if their doctor prescribes the drug. Just 16 percent of voters said they opposed marijuana for medical use.

The same poll showed a slim plurality — 48 percent — supported allowing adults to possess small amounts of marijuana for personal use. Forty-six percent said they opposed recreational marijuana use.

It's always been difficult for me to gain weight! Even after gorging myself, figured the extreme laughing episodes while on a doobys was the calorie killer. Didn't know it was due to lowered insulin and insulin resistance! Brownie points
!! Literally:D
