Meso Powerlifting Corner

Squats tonight. Hit a rep PR. 405x2 super clean and damn near effortless. I felt I could have hit 450+ tonight. Just a really really good sesh.

Started using low bar and I think it's really helped my form and is allowing me to get cleaner, easier reps. I got 365x4 like it was 2 plates. Only reason I stopped was so I didn't burnout before jumping to 405

Thanks, RT. The PL program I did seemed to boost my squat and DL numbers, but not my bench. I got a 5lb PR (265) but failed miserably @ 275.

I'm gonna be using The Cube Method in a few weeks here. Just wanna get my sling shot first. Hoping it helps fix my form, if that's the problem.

Was talking to an old Powerlifter in my gym, he approached me cos he saw me squatting (nobody in this gym squats. There's like 3 of us that do) gave me some good tips and said my form looked real good.. sounds lame, but it's nice to get affirmation that I'm doing something right, haha.

Keeping with this: do you guys that have competed always try to PR on your last lift?

Ideally yes, but I'll go for less before I go for something I'll likely miss. With that said I've only failed to PR twice at meets. The first time was at my first meet I missed my third bench attempt, only lift I've ever missed in three meets. At my last meet my third bench attempt was one pound under my old PR, but I knew if I jumped five pounds I'd miss it and looking at the video I would have.

If you have the time, do yourself a favor and watch this interview. Didn't pay much attn to Duffin before, but he's definitely in my top favorite lifters after watching this. He's the epitome of badass

when it comes to recovery, mobility, and the mechanics of lifting he is one of the smartest guys out there. watch any video he has on any of the said topics and you will definitely learn a thing or two for sure. one of the all time greats for sure.

Been watching alot of youtube deadlifting videos trying to fix some form issues.

Trainer buddy of mine is going to help out on my next few deadlift sessions and help me. He's the one that pointed it out to me. Never had any lower back trouble so never knew I was doing anything off.
