Meso Powerlifting Corner

I didn't see that. I did see where he benched like 560lbs the other day.

That's just crazy to think when you see the guy. Such a huge weight for an average sized guy. If I remember correctly I think the sleeve record is 2,121.9lbs. Which means he'll probably get it because his recent gym singles were 578lbs bench, 854lbs deadlift, 711lbs squat that was pretty conservative. At least now I don't have to worry about him in the 181 class. Haha.

Makes you wonder what makes his body superhuman. It's obviously not muscle size. He doesn't have freakish proportions either that really favor any certain lift.

All I know is I started chasing him about 4 years ago, and have yet to close the gap at all. Ha. Every time I hit a pr, seems like he hit one too. Now I've been kind of laid up the last year and he's still blowing up. Kind of curious now to see how long he keeps it going. Never thought he would have a 2,000+lbs total and potentially be holding atwr in three different weight classes at the same time. Lol. I never "fanboy" people, but the dude really is made of something different. Lol.

I'll be happy if I can put together all my gym PRs from over the years at a meet.
550/440/700

I'll never see 2000lbs, but I think I could someday squat 600lbs at my current weight and maybe bench 500lbs if I bulked to 242lbs.

It’s the tendon strength and muscle fibers, I would guess? Haack is the same way. They must be packed full of fast twitch fibers, lol...It always amazes me when I see dudes like this, and some don’t even look like they lift in a serious fashion. Shit, when Haack wears a shirt, you might even assume his body is just built like that.

It’s funny that you mention going to 242 to see 500...That’s precisely why I decided on 242 instead of lower / higher. I figure 242 is easy enough to get relatively lean, but have enough weight to put up some big numbers for myself. I’d never see the numbers you’re doing at your BW, lol. But at 242 I’ll have a chance to press 400+, I think.

-And honestly, I just wanna compete once and put up an elite total, just to get my name up there and have the experience. It’s not something I really wanna take serious (for an extended amount of time) with prep and all the peaking and such. After that, I’ll probably transfer into more power building

For sure bro.

For me it's a tendon issue.
I just havnt put in enough time lifting heavy.
My CNS isnt used to it either.

I get outlifted by guys who look much shittier than me.
I LOOK like I put up numbers... but I dont lmao

I'm thinking of switching to Sheiko for a while.

Then following up with Smolov to get my weakest point, (Squat) up to par.

I'm spending all my off cycle time doing SBD and only SBD, since obviously ots not s muscle mass issue since om 235/240 and my lifts didnt go up nearly as much as my mass during my Tren run

My elbow tendons are complete shit. I have a suspicion that it’s what’s holding my bench back. I started doing banded pushdowns every session of 200 reps just for tendon strength. Dave Tate swears by them, so I’m hoping it works.

I've torn both my triceps and have nasty muscle balls near both elbows (My doc thinks I'm a literal retard lol)

Hasnt held my back too much on bench...YET
But I'm still lifting kid weight when compared to the boys here lol

Haven’t even broken into 300 yet, unassisted by slingshot lol. Man I feel tht.

Previously yes I agree. Haack is fucking jacked now and still pretty lean. But just looking at him I’d never guess he could bench over 550, squat in the 700’s and deadlift in the high 800’s. He looks like a total gym bro or maybe he does CrossFit.If I had to guess I’d say he could maybe squat 455 and bench 375 probably pull 500 just by the looks of him

You need to hit more heavy singles. 2-5 rep range is pretty much the norm for most powerlifting training on main moves, obviously depends on the blocks or whatever the phase you are in. Start working in the 1-3 range. If you want to do an intensity phase I recommend after say your 3x3@87% or 4x4 at 83% do a couple singles at a slightly higher % instead of amraps. Also what Ever you can do to overload the CNS/PNS. BENCH to a block/board/ slingshot/floor press. Squat in wraps or to a slightly high box. Pull from blocks or add chains, Use straps etc. I think you would need to adjust frequency and volume but the strength can be there if you want it to be. You can probably afford to gain a bit more weight, your over 6’ IIRC?

6'1"
235/240 dependant on the day.

I look like I lift.... but like you said, need to focus on 3 ish rep rsnge for while

Any suggestions on a program?
Was thinking Sheiko large load program.
Thoughts?

I also really need the consistancy of a plug in spreadsheet, I have a tendancy to get too creative with my training LOL

I always suffer from the same issue, my REPS are there... say on an AMRAP 225 bench
1RM tells me I can hit 325 or 335.
But I'll max at 305 or 315 and not hit my potential.

Sheiko large load is for little guys that can handle more volume, you want medium load.

My reps are different on each lift. For squat my reps show a lower 1RM than what I can actually do. Bench it's almost spot on. Deadlift my reps show much higher than what my actual 1RM is.

Start lifting heavy, knock off the volume and all the amraps if you aren’t trying to grow. I think Sheiko is an idea but might be too much volume. Not sure how much you’re doing before

Medium load it is

Yeah, but mine are ALL lower
I guess I'm just good at reps lol

I'm pretty decent with volume.
On a decent gym day I'll hit probably around 36 ish sets and still function without problem (Other than volume on legs.. which I havnt been doing since our conversation)

You have a different program in mind?
Maybe heavier with less volume to really focus in CNS and tendons?

Does anyone else follow strongman as well? I’ve been really into it for the last year or 2. Looking to outfit my gym with some strongman stuff, after the essentials are taken care of.
-Anyway, pretty cool mini doc about Eddie.
