Meso Powerlifting Corner

I hate equipped lifting. Its a complete exaggeration of a humans abilities. An egotistical and ridiculous exaggeration. I hated when the guys do it and when the women do it

Equipment aside from say belt, sleeves , wraps is so vastly different it’s hard to lump it in with powerlifting. There some equipment guys at the gym I go to. Not to say these guys aren’t strong but the suits add a lot to squat and bench. Huge amount of skill to complete the lift. Knowing their gear seems almost more important than being strong. Mis groove a rep, the bar ends up in their teeth or they fall over. It’s not just the act of sliding on some briefs or a shirt and increase your total by 500 lbs. which I think is fine so long as these guys are honest about it being in a multiply shirt/suit. Matt Wenning and Chad Wesley Smith have an awesome convo about this. They go on to bash some “500 lb benchers” who can’t lift 315 without a shirt. There’s one lift that the gear can’t improve and many times makes more difficult. The deadlift. When I look at an equipped total I always look to the deadlift. If their deadlift is lower than bench they’re just good at using their equipment and may not total 60% of that multiply going raw.
