Metformin for insulin resistance due to high dosage GH pre contest.

hey guys,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this or not...
Anyway, I will start with a little about me. I'm currently 11 weeks out from a nat qualifier I won my class in last year but did not win the overall in so I'm going back for redemption because it's a show I've wanted to win since I first got into bodybuilding. It's personal, yes it's trophy chasing. Then after that I will be doing a pro qualifier 3 weeks later to try and get my pro card.

Here's my issue... I have been steadily and consistently using gh for about two years now and never really had any issues with this up until this point.. But I am beginning to experience some noticeable insulin resistance. I'm also running gh higher than I ever have at 12 iu pharma a day. Fasted bg is Def running a little high and I notice a difference with how I feel when I eat my heavier carb meals as well. It's almost as if I feel bogged down.

I already use insulin on my refeed days and when needed but for the purposes of getting as peeled as possible this looked like it may be a good option to look into as I feel it's a little harder to get nasty shredded using insulin and don't plan to continue to use it all the way through the contest prep.

With that being said if any of you guys have any experience of your own with metformin or any insight you can offer it would be greatly appreciated!

I use it, but I'm diabetic also. It can help transport nutrients faster and lower glucose but it depends on what your fasted glucose is at. It's not going to correct it if you're really high, but a tad above and it may. Word to the wise, take a break from HGH soon

Not crazy high like 120..
I may have to back the dosage down but I definitely don't want to take a break until the shows are over..

Thanks for the insight.

I guess I should've also mentioned any advice on the best way to dose of it would be appreciated as well.

Dose 1,000mg per day, take 500mg pre workout and 500mg right before bedtime. It'll also help shed visceral fat. How much longer till the show?

Don't take Hgh unless ur on slin or met or berberin. Or take breaks and use dnp for 2 week mini cuts.
But I don't use Hgh so yeah...idk.

How much berb.
Regardless. Maybe u need to lower dosage of Hgh

They are 400mg caps. I get that but that's why I'm looking into other alternatives first.. Modesty is not my goal right now getting a pro card is.
If I wasn't competing it wouldn't make any sense to run it this high I agree.

The only thing that I can think of that would be helpful in this situation would be basal insulin (Lantus). This may or may not interfere with fat burn, you really need to talk to someone who has a lot of experience with basal insulin during contest prep or experience using it to mitigate beta cell damage as a result of heavy GH use.

If berberine isn't making a big difference I wouldn't have high hopes for metformin since they are similar in terms of efficacy but it would be the next step if berberine or other GDA's aren't helping.

Basal insulin can be useful for minimizing damage to beta cells in your pancreas to reduce the chance of developing t2d from being insulin resistant for too long (split dosing GH for too long, being too heavy, eating absurd amounts of carbs for too long etc). Contest prep is a pretty unique set of circumstances and even though I have experience with basal insulin, I have no clue how useful or detrimental it may/may not be for you.

I don't know how detrimental dropping or significantly reducing the GH would be to your condition, but I wouldn't dismiss the idea if you can't get it under control by other means.

from one competitor to another, is being a pro worth being a diabetic at 30?

Definitely not brother.
You're telling me you've never pushed the envelope before?

I didn't make this post to get a hard time about my gh usage. I'm looking for a solution before I drop the dosage back down. I'm aware that is going to be the best option of I can't get this figured out..

I know guys at the top level using 20+ ius a day... No that doesn't make it okay but I feel like people aren't aware that this is really going on.

Like @Demondosage told ya, 100mg of metformin per day seems a first good approach, if this doesn't do it, maybe try an approach with long lasting insulin to help you keep bs to normal level since you're already using slin. But be carefull go slow and watch your BS

Not at all attacking he mindset. I get it man. I do.

But things to consider; those guys are dumb, they’re maybe better at handling the dosage than you, different diets and drug use, etc.

I’ve never pushed it with gH.

I don’t think you need 20iu to go pro. That’s an honest statement. But this is your go. I’m just reinforcing what 120 fasted big means...
