MindlessWork Accepts Free Samples.

Free samples? Lol. I love free samples. Fuck, I'm damn near in my golden years and I still go trick or treating. Sometimes I do more than one complete circle around in Costco just to get a double up on free samples. And if I go to a store next to sees candies I'll stop in and pretend I'm gonna buy something just to get a couple free samples then I tell them I left my wallet in the car. I love free samples.

Whilst i prefer to stay neutral in this one, i can see where Mindless may have made the pct sample connection.

There have been instances of noobs coming here, looking for an AI hookup and rather than get the typical "fuck off, find it yourself" they're given links or reference to our very own Pharmacist.

i completely understand why some members would bend the spoon feeding rule in this instance, but i believe it's going to cause confusion down the line... And here we are.

But, but, but... i also think that taking samples from any source should be an instant "no thank you."

So, while i can understand his side of the argument, i also believe that, for someone who's been here forever, he should have known better and refused taking anything for free.

Just my thoughts on this subject...

Have no dog in this. . but OP i literally just picked a random page of Mindless log . Dude might wanna research a little more nxt time looool

So that's why we need to have a good discussion as a community on this question that has just come up, and thanks for your input.

Maybe @CensoredBoardsSuck can chime in on this question and I gladly will await his feedback. Hopefully there will be a clearer agreement on this issue. If I made a serious mistake then my bad, as I had different impression of this rule.
@CensoredBoardsSuck has already written extensively about this (see link below). It's the usually-expected quid pro quo that is the problem. If you don't provide it, then it's not necessarily a big deal. BUT your credibility in positively reviewing this source is irreversibly tarnished as a result of your decision. And any positive reviews of other sources may be met with suspicion that free samples were also involved. Even negative reviews of other sources may be met with suspicion e.g. was the negative review given just because a free sample wasn't received?

See Why You Shouldn't Accept Free Samples From Sources

Accepting free items from any source here regardless of item is looked at negatively here. Your views will be tarnished and every review or critique of sources/members will now be viewed with an extra level of skepticism. For a newer termed member the excuse of ignorance to the rule may be easier to swallow but not for a longer termed member. You should of known better and if you didn't then you have not been paying attention in your years here. I think the stance on free items from sources here is straight forward with no exceptions.

As a longer termed member and frequent poster you have an added responsibility that newer less active posters do not. Like it or not some people will see your actions and decisions as endorsement for them to follow your lead. Again you should have known better.

While some may disagree with me on this I don't see this as a reason to leave Meso but your integrity, reviews, and critique of members and sources will be taken with much more skepticism.

It should be noted that @MindlessWork has done nothing wrong as far as I've seen. He hasn't given any positive reviews. He hasn't done anything in exchange for free samples. And he has fully disclosed his receipt of free samples. He's done everything possible to openly and honestly reveal any conflicts of interest.

But as you've noted, if he wants to provide feedback and reviews about sources here in the future then he has introduced a lot of skepticism even with his disclosure.

No , he just proved that hes a cheapass that doesnt pay for his own gear or AI"s . He wins them in contests (AAS) and asks for freebies (AI) . Draw your own conclusions...

Well to be fair he outed himself by speaking to the source about the samples in the source thread. Pretty difficult for him to not admit later on after it was already known. Now if Mindless offered up the receiving the samples himself without being called out then I would agree that he openly disclosed but that's not the case. I don't think this is a road that the board wants to go down. Are free samples ok as long as when you are caught you admit to everything after the fact?
