I agree with you. I personally take issue with people accepting free items without purchasing previously regardless of who it is but I agree with your point.
I'd rather members not accept free samples at all. But members will continue to make their own decisions. I can't force them to see the pitfalls of accepting free samples.
I'm not naive. I suspect that a lot of people have received free samples and don't disclose it because they don't want to be called out. But I would greatly prefer for members to honestly disclose any such actions after the fact if they are going to review and critique sources. So, I prefer disclosure and honesty over cowardice.

I agree with you. My point is that simply because he disclosed after the fact does not mean he did nothing wrong. He chose to disclose instead of being a coward and hiding and that I respect. I just won't say he did nothing wrong throughout the process.
I think we agree but disagree on semantics. I think it was a bad decision with consequences if he wants to participate in the review and critique of forum sources.
I don't think it was wrong in the sense that it was an immoral or unethical action. It would have been wrong if he secretly accepted free samples and then provided a positive review as a quid pro quo. Even if he accepted free samples and gave a positive review along with a full disclosure, it is still not necessarily wrong.
At least he was up front about it. I don't know why an established source would send free samples though.
It is still a bad idea to accept any free gear.

I see your point in that it was a bad decision and I think we agree setting the semantics aside.
May I mention that I disclosed in Pharmacist's thread once I have received the pack, and it was several weeks after a discussion in PM. So is it necessary to disclose samples just at the same time as the offer?
No gear was involved, just ancillaries.

I don't think it's necessary to reveal any details whatsoever about illegal drug importation, etc. But if you want to publish an honest and credible review of a source, then you should provide full disclosure at least at the time of the review.
It is the free compensation of anything from any source.

Honestly, though, would his reviews have meant much to many people here even if he didn't accept free samples? It's my opinion that some non-proven allegations have done enough damage to his opinions/credibility. A screen shot of the things that he said, even if it was a poorly worded 'joke', is enough for a majority of people to steer clear.
