I went for a PR close gripping yesterday. Rep was solid and no issue with the pec but my knee locked up as I was pressing which made lockout tough with no leg drive but I got it.

Moved my grip out about one inch on each side today and worked up to 380. Lockout again was a bit slow but I had moved my feet forward some today to avoid any issues with the right knee and as a consequence used very little leg drive. No pec issues either day this weekend.
Congrats on the close grip PR , 375 thats gorilla strong!!! Impressive [emoji123]

Thanks Mr. B. I think I could have hit that number prior to my last meet but never did as I was only close gripping once a week. So I will take the PR in an otherwise down week.

10/12
medium grip paused bench 5x155, 5x205, 2x255, 1x305, 1x355, 1x385, 3x315
lat pulldowns 3x10 230
low pulley rows 3x10 230
ab pulldowns 15x100, 15x110, 12x120

Some good and some bad today. On the plus side one week after the initial pain my knee felt much better for the first time. Still some swelling which I don't like but pain has lessened considerably and ROM was much better today. Had to put off deadlifting today but I think I may be able to pull again before the end of the week.

The bad was the 385 single. Came up uneven as it was quicker off the right side than the left, almost missed as I was straightening the bar out but I managed to lock it out. On the plus side there was no pec pain with the narrower grip and low touch point.

Great log, MP. I just finished catching up. You're strong as hell brother, i hope to be able to move weights as heavy as you do one day.

Thanks for checking in ruckin. There is something to be said for lifting for a lot of years.

Knee is still swollen and bothering me and got a fucking head cold over the weekend. Disgusted so I decided to see if I could pull today as it is getting to the stage if I can't I will just bench at the meet.

Program called for block pulls which gave the knee a bit of a break. It actually went much better than I thought it might. I think I can get through the meet an then get whatever the issue is fixed.

On the plus side checked in at 197.8 this morning so making weight should be easier for me than it ever has been.

10/16
paused medium grip bench 5x155, 5x205, 2x255, 1x305, 1x355, 1x385, 2x2 345
pull throughs 2x12 120, 2x10 140, 10x150
hip flexion 3x10 30
ghr's 2x14

Still fighting a nasty cold but got some sleep for the first time all week last night and three weeks out from the meet I needed to get some work in. Worked up to 385 with a medium grip and low touch point without any pec issues. Despite continued swelling in the knee pain is much more bearable and I was able to tuck my feet to there normal position benching for the first time since the knee issue. There was a pop in the knee when I straightened it out after each set but no significant pain.

Past ready to get past this cold and minor injuries and train hard into the meet.

10/17
paused bench 5x155, 5x205, 2x255, 1x305, 1x355, 1x390
dumbbell ohp 3x10 65
side laterals 3x10 30
rear delt raises 3x10 50

Grip was only about an inch short of normal on each hand while touch point was still a couple of inches lower. 390 was an all out grind which didn't make me happy as I should be able to handle that weight without that kind of effort. About an hour after this session I felt like I had been hit by a baseball bat repeatedly so obviously the cold still had a stronger grip on me than I had thought going in.

2" inch block pulls 3x295, 2x345, 1x395, 1x445, 1x495, 0x545

Slept a bunch this morning and early afternoon trying to get over the cold. Had no expectations on the pulls at all but I needed to do something. 495 moved ok so I went for 545 which I knew was a stretch but was what I had planned for earlier in the week prior to getting sick. Broke about an inch off the mats and was done.

The last month has seen more setbacks than any other month of meet training I have been through. Pec was first, then the knee and now the cold. 20 days out from the meet and I'm just hoping to get right physically between now and then to at least give myself a shot.

Your fight through adversity is inspiring my friend. Stay up.

You'll get there, keep on keeping on.

Thanks brother. Nothing inspiring about getting sick and injured but sit could have been worse. It all happened early enough that at least I think I still have a chance on meet day.

Went back to normal bench positions today. Worked up to a smooth 390 which moved fairly well and was done without pain. Starting to turn the corner with the cold although it is putting up a strong fight as I still have quite a bit of chest congestion. Plan is to try to work back up over 400 this week assuming continued progress on the sickness front and no pec issues.

Bad luck on the cold Masters, but at least its early enough that it shouldn't be a problem come meet time. Im really looking forward to hearing how you do.

Thanks Mr. B. Shit definitely could be worse if the cold or the knee would have happened during meet week I would have been in trouble. As it is there should be time to be okay.

side laterals 3x10 30
rear delt raises 3x10 50
ab pulldowns 15x110, 2x12 120

Cheated the pause a bit on 398 today. Went up okay. No pec issues. Cold is still hanging on in my chest but things seem to be slowly starting to move in the right direction.

10/22
paused bench 5x155, 5x205, 2x255, 1x205, 1x355, 1x395, 2x2 355
leg curls 2x12 90, 10x100, 9x100
ghr's 2x15, 13

Wanted a clean top single with a solid pause so dropped down to 395, It went well and was clean. Had at least another 5 pounds in me.

10/23
paused bench 5x165, 5x215, 2x265, 1x315, 1x365, 1x402, 2x2 360
pull throughs 12x120, 12x130, 10x140, 10x150, 10x160
hip flexion 3x10 30

Warm up sets went well today so I decided to go 402. Should have worn a skate on my left foot as it slipped twice. Was still able to lock it out with a pause. No signs of the pec issue this week so hopefully I'm done with it. Congestion seemed to be lifting a bit this afternoon. Meet is two weeks from tomorrow. Looking for a solid last week plus of training to set me up for a good effort.
