Nanny State Stories From The Front Line

So you want more government. You think it has your best interests at heart.

California, one of the most suffering states in the Union has a lot on its plate. But at least it tackled one extremely important issue that really was keeping me up at night. Whether to allow flat sheets on beds. Thank God we finally have this pressing and national issue finally settled and now all sheets are equal with no sheet daring to be better than another:

Being a totalitarian ideology, nanny state liberalism aims to control every conceivable aspect of your life — right down to the sheets on your bed:

When California’s elected officials come back from their month-long recess they face a mountain of proposed legislation (almost 900 bills are lined up and waiting), including a new law (SB432) that would require hotels to eliminate flat sheets. Not having fitted sheets on hotel beds would now be a crime in California. This is not a joke…

California, the state trying to deal with a massive $26 BILLION dollar debt, is considering a law that some hospitality industry experts claim would add an estimated $15 to $30 million dollars in costs to an already hurting hotel industry. The low-end estimate of fifteen million is the projected cost to purchase new fitted sheets for the 550,000 hotel beds in the state.

The hospitality industry points out that the added expense will put jobs at risk, an argument highly unlikely to sway Democrats, who do everything in their power to keep unemployment high, thereby increasing our dependence on their handouts.

The fitted-sheet bill is the brainchild of State Senator Kevin De Leon (a Democrat from Los Angeles), whose mother suffered back pains while working as a hotel maid. Kevin has been quoted as saying this was “an issue close to my heart.”

In a tyrannical society, any bureaucrat with a pet issue can impose his will on the rest of us.

The good news for those who don’t like fitted sheets is that some petty tyrant whose mother was traumatized by trying to fold them neatly will ban those too. Then we will have sheet equality.

Remember - it ObamaCare passes the Supreme Court (it will still be killed in one way or the other - trust me on that one), then when the conservatives are in power, they can make you the target of their pet projects. This is why Statism is not a conservative or liberal issue. If they can make you buy insurance, then as the lawsuit just lost in the 11th circuit by Obambi said - they can make you eat broccoli or buy a gym membership or dictate what weight you must be in order to get health care for certain issues. Or they could....fill in the blank.

If you are a thinker and not an ideologue, you just probably had an "oh shit" moment and if you supported ObamaCare and are still that thinker, you just had a really big "oh shit" moment because the CBO can't score ObamaCare because the rules are made up as they go along by - you guessed it - the secretary of HHS. If that happens to be a conservative, what is to stop them making a rule which says all TRT replacement is no longer covered - period. What would you say then?

Think before you vote. Think before you jump on the bandwagon. Read about the NHS in Britain: http://www.lumponablog.com/health-care/for-obamacares-impact-look-to-canada-and-great-britain/

Ya really want that do ya? It's great if you have a cold or pneumonia. Sucks if it's something more serious. And our system is setup to be even worse and more expensive. But of course as Nanny State Nancy said - we would have to wait for the bill to pass to find out what's in it. Does that sound like government to you - or tyranny?

That was not a trick question.

Obama bus tour a real bust so far:

I love the golf clapping. Sounds sooo enthusiastic. And I wonder why they don't show the crowd. I'm sure we will see more of this non-event as more reasonable people cover the event and show just how uninspiring this bozo really is.

Man, what a looser.

The stupidest thing I have heard in the past week is......drum-roll please:

Obama Ag Secretary Vilsack: Food Stamps Are A Stimulus | RealClearPolitics

Yep, you read it right here. Food stamps are a stimulus. Only in Big Government socialism can someone say that food stamps, which is money from your pocket that goes to someone else after loosing value in the bureaucratic process (the bureaus gots to gets paid) and then used is actually stimulating the economy. Well....what if I decided to spend all of it instead before it went out? I would be spending MORE, therefore food stamps are not a stimulus but rather a drain on the economy. Don't get me wrong, if you need them you should get them - unless you are gaming the system in which case I think you should be forced into hard labor to payback every penny. My wife, God love her, long before she met me fell on hard times and refused food stamps while the government officials tried like hell to get her to take them. They actually hounded her! Estimates are that for every dollar the government gets, about 10 pennies to 50 pennies actually gets used after the bureaucrats eat it up (depends on the department). So let's be nice here and say its 50 pennies on the dollar. That means I only have to spend 51% of the money if I was allowed to keep it myself and I would be stimulating the economy more than the government. This is the crazy thinking of liberals who try to convince us that taxes are in fact a form of stimulus. [:o)][:o)][:o)][:o)][:o)][:o)][:o)][:o)]

Anyway, here is the story:

Obama's Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack: "Well, obviously, it's putting people to work. Which is why we're going to have some interesting things in the course of the forum this morning. Later this morning, we're going have a press conference with Secretary Mavis and Secretary Chu to announce something that's never happened in this country -- something that we think is exciting in terms of job growth. I should point out, when you talk about the SNAP program or the foot stamp program, you have to recognize that it's also an economic stimulus. Every dollar of SNAP benefits generates $1.84 in the economy in terms of economic activity. If people are able to buy a little more in the grocery store, someone has to stock it, package it, shelve it, process it, ship it. All of those are jobs. It's the most direct stimulus you can get in the economy during these tough times."

NEW MATH FROM THE PRESIDENT'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TEAM

$1.00 GROWS TO $1.80 FOOD STAMPS
UNEMPLOYMNENT $1.00 GROWS TO $1.60

God, I wish my money would do that. Who would have thought that food stamps were a form of investment with such a high return on investment. Amazing. I'm getting out of the market and into food stamps. I mean and 80% ROI! Wow, I'll be rich.

Coming soon: Obama announces that Al Gore not only invented the internet and global warming, but a perpetual motion machine.
