Nova's First Anavar Cycle Log

Hello!
I’m Nova and I'm starting my first cycle of Anavar today, July 12, 2016. I am very excited for this new journey I am about to experience. I am taking 5mg per day (2.5mg before my 12:00pm workout and 2.5mg before my 5:30pm workout). I have a low tolerance (except to pain) but I will increase the dosage over time. The length of my cycle will end in 8-10 weeks max.

My Stats:
  • Female
  • 28 years old
  • 5'0" tall
  • Starting weight: 115.4 lbs
  • Body fat %: 17.1 (measure with an electronic device)

My Goals:
I'll be honest, I want to look like a female CrossFit elite athlete. Their muscle definition is absolutely beautiful. I want to compete in local CrossFit competitions and take home the "W." And of course, set new PRs in all my lifts (see below).

My Diet:
I meal prep a week's worth of lunches and dinners every Sunday. My meals always include a meat, a sweet potato or white rice, and a vegetable. I also track macros that are formulated to my stats, activity level and goals. Here are macro targets:
Training Day Target: 118 (g) Protein, 318 (g) Carbs, 36 (g) Fat and 2,069 calories.
Rest Day Target: 118 (g) Protein, 143 (g) Carbs, 64 (g) Fat and 1,626 calories.

My Training:
I workout 5-6 days per week. I go to a regular globo gym on my lunch breaks (1 hour) that includes about 3 lifts. Then, I go to a CrossFit affiliate after work that includes lifting mixed with metcon.

My current 1 Rep Max:
  • Strict Press: 95 lbs
  • Back Squat: 195 lbs
  • Deadlift: 225 lbs
  • Bench Press: 115 lbs

My Supplements:
1 scoop of Creatine post-globo gym workout

Here are pictures of the Labmax test before/after 15 minutes.

I hope you enjoy my log for the next several weeks. I will greatly appreciate your comments and advice during my first time experience.

Have you read up on birth control and var? My wife has been looking into it for a possible var cycle to. Not sure if BC really makes a diff or not

Welcome! Looks like you're prepared for some changes... good starting base too.

I personally think it definitely does. I found that cycles run on bc are less beneficial (results wise) compared to those off bc

Thank you everyone for wishing me luck. I greatly appreciate it.

Day 2 (July 13th, 2016):

I skipped my globo gym workout because I took the day off from work to hang out with my best friend. But I did go to my CrossFit affiliate early in the morning to do “Filthy 50” for the first time.

For time:
50 Box jump, 20 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 3/4 pood
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 35 lb. bar
50 Back extensions
50 Wall ball shots, 14 lb. ball
50 Burpees
50 Double unders

My time was 40:41 (something I am not proud of). I’m not used of working out right after waking up and have zero fuel in my system. At least I set a baseline and I will do better next time.

Notes:

  • I almost always feel cold (my boyfriend calls me cold-blooded) but I’ve noticed my body temperature has increased. Now I feel comfortable or a little warm.
  • I drink water regularly but I’ve felt extra thirsty for it. I’m not sure if the increase of my body temperature plays a role with this.
  • My appetite has been on a roller coaster ride. I would feel hungry one minute, then feel the complete opposite the next. Don’t worry I am eating, even when I don’t feel like it.

That's a really good question but I don't know the answer. I have not read up on it because I do not take birth control. Many medications will combat the effects of birth control, even something like Advil can make it stop working so, I've heard.

Subd because I'm gonna steal some of your WOD as I'm just transferring over from pure strength to a conditioning style. Also good starting point, I'd look into getting some taurine to combat the pumps you'll be getting in the future from the var so you can still get through the workouts without being crippled by shin pumps or lower back pumps

Thanks for the advice! I do have glutamine handy. I will get back to taking it again.

Day 3 (July 14th, 2016):
I went to the globo gym today at noon. I did the following workout:

Practiced my freestanding handstands and handstand walks
Bodyweight dips 3x10
Mason Twist with a 10 lb. plate 3x15

I also went to CrossFit after work and completed this workout:

Lift: Bench (5x5x5x5)
5x 95 lbs.
5x 105 lbs.
5x 105 lbs.
5x 105 lbs.

AMRAP 7 minutes:
3 Clean & Jerks at 85 lbs.
3 Toes to Bar
6 Clean & Jerk at 85 lbs.
6 Toes to Bar
9 Clean & Jerk at 85 lbs.
9 Toes to Bar
12 Clean & Jerk at 85 lbs.
12 Toes to Bar

I completed 26 C&J and 18 T2B in 7 minutes.

Notes:
• Nothing new except that I feel less hungry now. Feels like I’m taking an appetite suppressant.

Good Luck to you too also! Are you keeping a log as well? I would like to follow it.

Thanks, no log just running a minimal amount and try to get some lean gains. I track workouts on another forum though.

Just a tip, as your strength increases dramatically just be careful and not go up in weight too fast, injuries suck big time. Still dealing with a tendon issue in my elbow from running my first trestolone cycle (my strength shot up so much, and so did my ego lol) but I'm sure you know, you don't look like a newbie.. More of a reminder

Thank you for the tip/reminder! Injuries are the worst.

Day 4 (July 15th, 2016):
I set a new front squat PR today at the globo gym today! It was an only a 5 pound increase but it still counts. My previous PR was 140 lbs. and now its 145 lbs. I did 3 sets of hollow body hold for as long as I can hold it before I had to go back to work.

The CrossFit WOD is:
"Nasty Girls"
3 Rounds for time:
-50 Manual Squats
-7 Muscle Ups
-95# Hang Power Cleans, 10 reps

My time was 22:02. I replaced the muscle ups with 21 pull-ups AND 21 ring dips in each round.

Notes:
  • My appetite is coming back. I have no cravings and I’m happy about that.
  • I’m full of energy.

Day 5 & 6 (July 16th – 17th, 2016):
Rest days.

Day 7 (July 18th, 2016):
I practiced my freestanding handstand holds and handstand walks at the globo gym. I am getting better and feeling more comfortable with the handstand hold.
Lift: Barbell incline bench press 5 x 5 x 5
45 lb. bar (warm up)
65 lbs.
75 lbs
85 lbs

My CrossFit WOD is:
Lift: Back Squat 3 x 3 x 3 x 3
85 lbs.
115 lbs
125 lbs
125 lbs
I didn’t do so well with the back squat because I have a bum left ankle and right knee. My body is whispering to me and I’m listening to it before it starts to scream.

"Helen" 3 Rounds for Time
400 m Run
21 KB Swings, 1 pood
12 Pull-ups
My “Helen” time was 14:26. It was a lot harder than it sounds. It looks like an easy workout on paper but I was running out of steam by round 3.

Notes:

  • My appetite is back to normal.
  • My body temperature is back to normal.
  • I’m going to increase my dosage from 5mg/day to 10mg/day.

When you do pull ups are you Kipping or static? I am keeping all mine static but I'm going to be doing murph Saturday and that's 1mile run 100 pull ups 200 push ups and 300 squats then another 1 mile run and I can't see 100pull ups happening with a weighted vest right now. So do you either just skip the reps or do one at a time until you've finally reached 100?

How's the pumps treating you on var any issues yet?

Hi RodgerThat!
I do strict pull ups because I don't have my kip down. I'm still practicing the kip but I always end up doing strict. Personally, everyone should do strict pull ups before kipping. I wish I can just skip the kip and learn to master the butterfly pull up.

I did Murph on Memorial Day and this is how I broke it up (thanks to WODPrep! I put a YouTube link down below - he offers tips on how to conquer this famous hero workout):

20 rounds of:
5 pull ups
5 push ups
15 squats
5 push ups

My time was 49:40 without the vest. I definitely want to do it with a vest next year. I recommend wearing tape over your palms because you may rip.

Good Luck!! Please tell me how you do.
