Day 28 (August 8th, 2016)
I told you I would back to the grind, didn’t I?

Globo gym workout:
-Practiced handstand walks
-Wide grip strict pull-ups 5 x 5 x 5
-Loaded overhead alternating lunges (5 reps with 15 lb. DB and 5 reps with 25 lb. DB)
-Man makers (5 reps with 30 lb. DB)


CrossFit workout:
Lift: Bench Press
Warmup set w/ bar
5-5-4-4-4-3-3
40%-50%-70%-70%-70%-80%-80%
45 lbs.
55 lbs.
85 lbs. x 3 sets
95 lbs. x 2 sets

WOD: Perform 2 rounds through all 3 stations
Station 1
1 Min Wall Balls (14#)
30 sec break
1 Min Double Unders

Station 2
1 Min Loaded Overhead Alternating Lunges (25# plate)
30 sec break
1 Min Burpees

*Record the total number of reps: 173 reps (I had difficulty doing double unders with my bum ankle)

Notes:
  • My ankle doesn't seem to be getting better. I'm bummed that I took 5 days off and my ankle isn't getting better. I guess it's time to make an appointment with a doctor.
  • The appearance of oily acne has decreased.
  • I'm beginning to lose my appetite again.
 
Day 29 (August 9th, 2016)
No globo gym today. I had to meet up with a handyman to fix an electrical issue in my home.

CrossFit workout:
WOD:
For Time: 15-10-5-5-10-15
Kettlebell Swings (53 lbs) – I switched to 35 lbs for the last set of 10 & 15.
Abmat Sit Ups
Front Squats (85 lbs)

Record total time: 15:30


Lift:
Power Cleans
12 minute EMOM
3X @ 75% of 1RM (85 lbs)




Day 30 (August 10th, 2016)

Definitely no globo gym today. I am so sore from yesterday’s CF workout but I am going to force myself to do tonight’s CF workout.

CrossFit workout:
Lift: Push Press
1 set x 5 Reps @ 40% (45 lbs)
1 set x 5 Reps @ 60% (65 lbs)
3 sets x 3 reps @ 75% (85 lbs)
3 sets x 3 reps @ 85% (95 lbs)


WOD: 5 Rounds for Time (30 minute time cap)
400M Run
20 Wall Balls (14 lbs)
20 Hand release push-ups

Record total time: 24:07



Day 31 (August 11th, 2016)
REST DAY!!!! :) Hurray! My quads are really sore today.
 
Side note - my ankle is feeling better. I woke up 1 morning and the muscle pain went away. Thank you good Karma!
 
Wondering with all the CF workouts are you noticing any issues with mobility on your cleans or snatches due to the ankle or was it just pain?

It was just pain. I don't want the pain to come back so I'm going to cool it on the running and jump roping for a while.
 
Hi Meso Rx! Sorry for not staying on top of my log these past few days. Work has been nar-nar. Thank goodness for weight-lifting to release the stress I feel from work.

Day 32 (August 12th, 2016)
No Globo Gym :(


CrossFit Workout:
Lift: Snatch Grip Deadlift (I’ve never heard of such movement! It was very strange to me. Coach says it helps with the initial pull of a snatch).

1 Set of 5 Reps = 85 lbs.
1 Set of 5 Reps = 115 lbs.
3 x 4 reps = 145 lbs.
1 x 1 rep = 155 lbs.

WOD: AMRAP Games
REST 1 MIN BETWEEN EACH EXERCISE

3 Min Hollow Rocks
3 Min Superman Hold (each time you come down, reduce your total score by the number of seconds you rested for)
3 Min Double Unders
3 Min Wall Balls (14 lbs.)
3 Min Kettlebell Swings (53 lbs.)
3 Min Box Jumps (20”)
3 Min Goblet Squats (53 lbs.)

Record total reps (after subtracting from superman hold) = 273 reps



Day 33 (August 13th, 2016)
I went to a barbell class this morning. It was a refresher on the basic fundamentals of a clean. The coach helped make some minor adjustments on my form so I can clean heavier weight in the future. If you have an opportunity to take a class similar to this, I recommend it because there is always room for improvement.



Day 34 (August 14th, 2016)
Rest Day.
 
Looks good! Everyday it's therapy cheapest therapy you can get and only reason I'm semi-sane.

When you say coach made adjustments are you talking a personal coach or Olympic lifting trainer or crossfit trainer at the gym? Only asking as my buddy is helping me with my oly lifts as he's a national level oly lifter but not actually a coach of any sort he just has a God given talent that I'm finding hard to match up with my natural level of 0 talent :oops: so wondering if it's just a general kinda course you can do at the crossfit places?
 
Day 35 (August 15th, 2016)
No Globo Gym again :(

CrossFit:
Lift: Power Cleans
Three Wamrup sets (2 reps at 60 lbs., 75 lbs., 80 lbs.)
EMOM for 8 minutes
2X @ 95 lbs.


WOD: 14 minute AMRAP
5 Toes to Bar
7 Thrusters (85 lbs.)
30 Double Unders – I struggled with the DU because the pain in my ankle was coming back

Record total repetitions = 136 reps



Day 36 (August 16th, 2016)
I finally made it to the Globo Gym today!! :)
-Row 500m
-3 sets x 5 chin-ups
-1 set x 5 wide-grip pull ups
-2 sets dragon flags
-2 sets x 15 mason twist w/ 10 lb. plate
-2 sets x 10 v-ups w/ 2.5 lb. medicine ball in between my ankles


CrossFit:
Lift: Bench Press
1 x 10 reps @ 35 lbs. (bar)
1 x 10 reps @ 55 lbs.
1 x 8 reps @ 70 lbs.
1 x 6 reps @ 85 lbs.
1 x 4 reps @ 95 lbs.
1 x 2 reps @ 105 lbs.

WOD: 20 minute AMRAP
10 Goblet Squats (53#)
10 strict HSPU
400m Run

Record total repetitions = 98 reps

Buy Out: 50 ab mat sit-ups


Notes:
  • Body temperature is still a little warm.
  • Appetite is still decreased.
  • Oily skin on my face has come back, especially on my nose this time.
  • I don't noticed a difference in body composition but my boyfriend says he sees a difference. I will post an updated body image next week.


Day 37 (August 17th, 2016)

Hiiii! The coach is a CrossFit trainer at my box. He has his Olympic Weightlifting certificate and Basic Barbell certificate.
 
Day 38 (August 18th, 2016)
I give up! I made an appointment to see a doctor next week to check out my ankle. I’ll let you know how it goes next Thursday or Friday. In the meantime I will take it easy and modify my workouts.

Globo gym workout:
-3 sets x 10 reps per leg Step-ups (20 lb. DB)
-5 sets x 5 bent over rows:
Warm up (20 lb. DB)
30 lb.
35 lb.
40 lb.
40 lb.
45 lb.

No CrossFit tonight because it was my bestie’s birthday.




Day 39 (August 19, 2016)

Glob gym workout:
-Practiced freestanding handstand holds/walks
-5 sets x 5 Incline DB push press:
25 lb.
30 lb.
35 lb.
40 lb.
45 lb.
-3 sets x 8 DB shoulder shrugs:
30 lb.
35 lb.
40 lb.

No CrossFit tonight but I’ll be working out over 2 hours tomorrow morning.

Notes:
  • Under the skin acne are appearing on the worse places on my face. I have two on my nose and one on my waterline!! Who knew you can get a pimple on your waterline near the tear duct?!
  • My heart rate increases more easily than before when performing a simple lift.
  • I can see definition in my abs only when I flex.. hahaha.
 
Really enjoying this log Nova! Keep at it, your ankle will get better. See your doc and see what he says and just remember: if you push it to hard, you could knock yourself out completely! Your doing great, don't let that ankle get in your head.

Partner WOD for time
*1 partner works at a time

2 x 500m row (partner planks while other rows)
100 Wall Balls (14#)
100 KB Swings (35#)
100 HRPU
100 T2B
200 Double Unders (I had to modify – I did 100 sit-ups while my partner did 100 DU)
2 x 400m Run (partner planks while other runs) I had to modify – I rowed 400m and my partner ran 400m.

Record total time: 34:09


Day 41 (August 21st, 2016)
I wanted to ride the assault bike at my friend’s house but plans were changed at the last minute. I’ll definitely hop on the bike of death next week.
 
Any major changes in your physique? Haven't noticed much gains/strength but definitely a lot of hardening here.
 
Day 42 (August 22nd, 2016)
I begin week 6 of my cycle tomorrow! I’ve decided to increase my dosage from 10mg to 15mg/day, starting tomorrow.

CrossFit workout:
Lift: Power Clean
1 x 3 reps @ 30% (35 lbs)
1 x 3 reps @ 50% (55 lbs)
1 x 2 reps @ 70% (85 lbs)
1 x 1 rep @ 90% (105 lbs)
1RM Max Attempt (125 lbs) <-- couldn’t succeed.
1RM Max Attempt (120 lbs) <-- New PR! 5 lb. increase :)


WOD: 4 RFT
Run 400m (MOD: Row 400m)
10 Pullups (MOD: Ring Rows)
15 Box Jumps (MOD to: Step up 20in.)
20 Hand Release Pushups

Record total time: 18:24 (Modified due to ankle injury.)


I’m going to see my orthopedic doctor on 8/30 now. He put hardware in my ankle a few years ago and I think it’s about that time to have it removed. I can’t 100% blame the titanium for the discomfort in my ankle but it’s not helping things either.


Notes:
  • Acne is coming back with a vengeance on my hamstrings.
  • Body temperature has stayed on the warm side since I’ve started the cycle.
  • I will post an update body image by tomorrow.

I have noticed minor changes in my physique when I flex. Does that count? :P My boyfriend tells me he has noticed a difference but I don't see it. I am going to take pictures today and do a side-by-side comparison. I'll post the pics by tomorrow.

Thanks Geterdun! My ankle still hurts but I'm not a quitter. The pain is not excruciating but it doesn't feel good either. I just put the feeling in a dark, dark, dark place in the back of my mind during my lift.
