Number Theory

Yea my rating officially back then was in the 1900, I couldn’t break the 2000 mark at the time and seeing people around the 2500 mark as a GM was just crazy to imagine at that age. Of course on some of my online accounts I rate around 2400 but sometimes those ratings don’t even count especially with the levels of players that sometimes you run into online.
That's awesome, I wish I got into chess earlier. I don't aspire to get titled but if I had started chess earlier I would have striven for a title. If I thought a GM title was achievable I would have given everything to get it. It is still possible but my goal with chess was to get 2000 rating just. Now I just love it, I can sit and play games all day and it creates some sort of comfort for me. When I put the pieces out and everything works in almost perfect symbiosis, it's beautiful and relaxing. Even getting beat by beautiful plays is nice :P

I honestly still love using the Queens Gambit, it always gave me center control if done correctly but I never did any variations with it or as black.
I switched mainly because my coach thought I was too lazy to keep up with opening theory and it changes pretty frequently with the Queen's Gambit as the GM games include it often.

Read your PGN and I honestly hate blacks opening, I always thought opening with the bishop that way always weakens one side of the board and you can easily slip and lose control hence you taking over the center easily after. Usually ends in some type of Bishop sacrifice on their end, I think it’s a waste.
Me too, I think it's a poor choice! Wasted tempos on the fianchetto and white will almost always coordinate the dark squared bishop and queen to kick black's Dark squared bishop out of that g7 square. Plus I like when I get the d4, e4 and f4 pawn out there. The f pawn makes my king safety look weak but he has no real threats.

It is playable on the GM level but they have a totally different understanding of the game.

Bobby Fischer was just amazing, he just went bat shit crazy at the end, with the whole Russian Conspiracies and everything else.
I think there was a tournament he refused to go to because he stated the time of the game was much to early in the game and unless they changed it later he would just forfeit and not give a shit. Boss Status. lol
I don't know if he went crazy. Paranoid about the USSR? Yeah, I would be too, that was back when Russia was USSR. Relations between USSR and USA were under heavy tensions and chess was being used as a political tool. If I were Fischer, I would be scared shit-less too. Plus, he had no family of friends. Fischer against the world.
I will say this, chess players and mathematicians are some of the most logical and analytical people in this world. Also they have some of the highest IQs. If they say they see something that we can't understand. Take a note of it! :P

I used to be so much more into chess than I wish I could dedicate time to it now. I remember going over the Deep Blue v. Kasparov games in full depth and his devastating loss. lol
I know what you mean, I have a lot of time on my hands now but it won't always be that way.

Chess is such a different game now-a-days! AI and neural networks has elevated chess to another level! Have you seen some of the newer games? I can post a game or two of the AI games that have been making headlines.

I like Kasparov a lot, I was thinking about getting a set from one of the many Kasparov vs Karpov matches. I want a really nice "Soviet" set. I am part Cuban so maybe a Capablanca set would be nice too. Do you have any favorite chess players? Tal, Morphy, Karpov, Kasparov, Fischer?

I usually don't like these types of shows but I skipped to the last guy which was a good choice. Pretty interesting convo!

I started the clip at the appropriate starting point.

Where do you play chess online

I will play you

Goes to show that Math people have humor!
Btw, factorials are great to learn so you can calculate permutations. Permutation is a fancy word for saying, "ways to arrange things."

If you have 4 different colored fabrics, how many different ways can you arrange them? 4!(1x2x3x4)=24

Cool to know IMO!

I really don't like listening to this guy but his videos are good and there is a lot to learn. I didn't know about the Draper point.
